Maybe.. But what are the chances of two separate users having the exact same IP address if not from the same computer?

They simply have the same Internet Service Provider. I don't think you're following me.

Say we have User1 who registers, here. Their IP address is logged, accordingly. If this user's ISP uses DHCP, and the network goes down, they are re-assigned a new IP when service comes back online, thus freeing up their original IP. Or maybe they cancelled their service. Again, their IP is now free to use with another customer.

Now we have User2 who comes along and begins using the same ISP. This user is designated a new IP address. Since User1's old IP address is free, the ISP could now assign it to User2.

Understand?

But I logged in by different computers everytime that I post in this forum. Wouldn't it conutine to change the Internet provider address every time?!

I would think it would change..

As I said, you posted that you were at the job training program and that post's IP had the other account attached to it. I even posted the pix a few pages back.

Sure you will be allowed, I am just trying to make sure things are on the "up and up" since we have had so many alternate accounts lately.

But honestly it does not solve the case for me.. A 'Possibility" does not solve it.

Well, regardless, IP addresses are not written in stone to a specific PC. The fact that ISP's can re-use and re-assign them to other PC's should be enough proof that that could be the case here.

This forum has what, 40,000 members, right? The posibility of this anomaly occurring is very possible. Be thankful everyone here doesn't use AOL, or we would all probably have the same IP addresses.

I have been running phpBB forums for a few years, myself, and I have seen this happen a few times.
