Iron Man trailer

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

Back to your point, it's because the transformers are believable in the universe they exist in. If Ironman is set in a world where there are no supernatural powers at work (no 'radioactive spider' or 'gamma rays' or anything) or transforming alien robots from outer space, then I find it hard to believe that someone can build a suit that can make you go that fast without the G-force breaking your body.

If Tony Stark had been bitten by a radioactive F22 Raptor, then maybe I'd buy it. But as it stands now, I'm skeptical of the film and have never really been a fan of Ironman anyway.

Iron Man is set ina world with heroes with supernatural powers. Spider-Man and IM were friends before the whole Civil War crap.

But if the movie is set in the same universe as the other Comic Book movies (if they drop some names) you'd be okay with it then? Because frankly I'm hoping they will.

Alternatively, consider that if you limited Iron-Man to the constraints of our world for this movie, it would wind up being a lot like Shaq's Steel movie.

I know, I just think it's starting to sound like a broken record... in every superhero movie... 'I'm Batman', 'I'm Spiderman', 'I'm Ghost Rider', 'I'm Ironman'....

... 'This is Sparta'.

"I am Spartacus!"

Sorry, someone had to say it and reveal how dated they are.

Also - Spider-man always has to introduce himself, even in the comics, Superman was named by Lois Lane, and I don't remember Ghost Rider ever saying his own 'name' in the movie. Now that I think about it really hard, Johnny might have said "I am the ghost rider" at some point.

And in almost every VG I've played where Iron-Man has a catch-phrase, it's specifically "I am Iron-Man" in a cool voice. That or "Superior Tech." I prefer the latter, but it's not technically a full sentence, so I'm not sure it can be a catch-phrase.

Iron-man's catch phrase for the movie should be true to the comics.

I want to hear Stark say "wheres the booze?" and then hit someone.

Hmm, I remember ads for Steel, but never saw it. They made like seven different Steel action figures for the movie, I have an old ad book with pictures of them.

And there has YET to be any name dropping in any Marvel movies that don't have to do with other characters from that persons universe(like Dr. Conners in Spidey 2 and 3), with the exception of Franklin Richard's name on a computer screen in X-2, and Mr. Fantastic morphing into movie Wolverine in a deleted scene from Fantastic Four. Heck, they haven't even established the Daily Bugle as the preferred newspaper of New York city like they do in the comics.

I'm hoping that since IM is being made by Marvel itself, they'll feel free to drop names of any Marvel characters that haven't had a Movie Debut yet.

AS far as Steel - I enjoyed the movie, the premise was kind of neat, but it really wasn't on the scale of Iron-Man or even Comic Book Steel. Rather than being a Superman, movie Steel was more like Batman. No flying or anything, just Shaq beating the everlovin crap out of thugs with a giant hammer and shrugging off lots of bullets.

If Samuel Jackson is Nick Fury in the movie, does it mean that the movie will follow the Ultimate continuity?

No, movie Stark is a human being whose heart is pierced by shrapnel (or something similar).

Although, I doubt movie Fury will be a WWII vet, so in that respect it will be similar to Ultimates.

Given that the Golden armor doesnt seem to be in the movie and how the Avengers are not in movie continuity yet, does that mean Iron Man cant be called the Golden Avenger?

Theres one armor in between the mark 1 and mark 3 that we havent seen, we may or may not see it, but i'm bettin g that we will. It will most likely be a slimmed down mark 1 in gold.

Not really. 3 Armours were shown in the trailer. The Mk1, a more bulky and symmetrical version of the Mk1 and the Red-Gold armor.

And Iron Monger appears to be way bigger than the Mk1 and appears to have defeated Iron Man. (in the scene with Iron Monger firing handmounted missile-launchers, look at the centre of the circle-thing on the right. Iron Man is clinging there.)

Mk1, mk3 were both shown as well as the iron monger, we have not seen mk 2 yet at all.

Ahh, but there were three armors shown.
First was the one in Afghanistan, made from leftover metal.
Second was more refined, symmetrical, bulky, had glowing eyes.
Third was the red-gold armor.

So what was the second one?

Now supposedly, all future Marvel movies produced by Marvel themselves ( Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Thor, etc ) are supposed to exist in the same continuity. This goes doubly true for any characters tied into the Avengers, as one of Marvels plans ( or so they were saying before Iron Man hit production ) was to have a future Avengers movie with an ensemble cast. Pretty much going exactly the opposite of the direction DC seems to be going with their JLA movie. I'd be willing to bet good money that any of these Avengers characters are going to end up being an amalgam of both standard Marvel and their Ultimates counterparts, due mostly in part to the rampant popularity of the Ultimates title ( and the higher than expected sales of the Ultimate Avengers DtV movies ).

I think the fact that Sam Jackson's got a cameo as Nick Fury pretty much confirms that they'll be using ideas from the Ultimate Marvel U. Personally when they finally get around to making a Thor movie, I'd much prefer the Ultimates version and the same goes with Captain America ( What can I say? I like Ultimate Cap's costume ). A future Avengers/Ultimates movie could be pretty damned awesome, as at current we'd end up with Edward Norton and Robert Downey together onscreen. They've got their work cut out for them in casting Thor and Captain America, though, neither will be an easy choice.

With regard to hypothetical casting, I think the closest my wife and I could ever come to Captain America was Brendan Frasier or Brad Pitt (two very different choices, I know).

Thor may be nearly impossible.
