LEGO Collectors Thread--Star Wars, Video Games, and more!

For the life of me, using the search function, I could not find a LEGO collector's thread, so I decided to start one.

Anyway, I've been into LEGOs® since I was about oh, 8 or so, and am now in my 30's, I do have my old stuff, and with the lull in TF stuff that I really find interesting, I have been returning to Star Wars LEGOs and others LEGO sets I like here and there.

I find them to be good for working my patience and dexterity. But I also like them for the creativity, and fun side.

I don't make much of my own designs anymore, but occasionally I dabble in trying to create a Joe or Transformers vehicle/character. Nothing I have wanted to keep together, but fun to try.

Right now I am working on putting together the Death Star, and a few days ago I put together the Tantive Iv set. Fun models, and a nice distraction.

I got re-interested in Star Wars (and related LEGO's) through novels I have been reading. Recently I read 'The Death Star', 'Death Troopers' and 'Dark Lord of the Sith', all of which made me want to interact with that world a little more. I do have the LEGO SW video game, but haven't started playing it on my PS3 yet (did previously play it some on PS2, and DS).

I own a couple othere sets of recent including the Spy Helicopter, and the Coast Guard helicopter. Yes, I like helicopter. I also have an Indiana Jones set (the Ark of the Covenenant set- has C3P0 and R2D2 hieroglyphics on the wall :) ).

I found the LEGO Indiana Jones video game to be a drag, but I am looking forward to the Harry Potter version.

So share what you want about any LEGO related items you have or do. Video Games (I know, we have a video games forum, so most of the talk here should be about the actual bricks/brick building), creations, recent set purchases, and experiences.

Do you enjoy LEGOs?

Hm, hard to say. I am into the brand "BIONICLE", and have an account on a Fan-site of it. My name actually also comes from my favourite character. But a month or so ago, a message from the Lego Company said that no more BIONICLE sets were planned for the nearest future. That sucked.

Of course, i have also collected other brands, as Vikings, Castle and Exo-Force. But Bionicle is(was) deffinately the thing i was the most into.

Since i got T: RotF, though, i have been more into Transformers. I actually consider buying a larger collection of figures over the net. Though, money are needed.

That would seem weird for them to stop Bionicles. Never bought any of those, but I acan see that if you like LEGO Bionicles how you might like movie design TFs or vice versa.

I often look at the castles stuff and think it might be fun to start them, and then I rethink my space issues, and monetary issues. No need.

I used to be a fan of Lego where you could build something alternative, instead of looking at instructions and wondering where the parts are. Now that I've grown out of that stage, the sets from Lego are kinda of unimpressive to me compared to other brands where I get to build stuff - Gundam.

However, I still like Lego and always will. Back in the day I was a huge fan of Lego Ninja, the original Lego Star Wars, Alpha Team, Aquazone and then....

Bionicle showed up. Holy moly I got addicted to that sh*t like crack. Other than Star Wars, I was an addict for Bionicle. I have some complete sets going back to the original release back in 99.

10 years later - I can't believe they're ending Bionicle. The Stars set still looks decent enough for me because it has a fan favourite set - Tahu. But I'll always try to go vintage and get sets that I've missed.

The new Atlantis stuff doesn't look too bad. Reminds me of the Aquazone and Aqua Raiders days and nothing is kickass as that.

Castle sets don't look half bad, as they've added Orcs as adversaries.

And then there's f-ing Prince of Persia lego that's pretty damn sweet.

So the outlook of Lego doesn't look half bad.

I'm not truely a Lego Fan, but the Blacktron I sets are truely awesome. (my brother and I had the Alienator and the Battrax when I was little, and at the moment I'm considering to buy a complete Battrax)

No surprise I have some of those, I have the Battrax, and the Renegade. Mine are not currently together, but I do believe I still have all the pieces and the instructions!

Thinking about it, BIONICLE was(is) actually a very succesful line from LEGO. But it was also a more or less expensive line; producing new molds costs lot`s of money, i think it was about 100.000 $ per molding machine. And when ´nearly every set have at least one unique piece, it get`s pretty expensive very fast.

LEGO has a special place in my heart.

I haven't outright collected any in ages but if I see a nifty set now and then, I'll grab it.

On the video game front, I've played a bit of the Star Wars games and found them interesting enough that i picked up a cheap copy of the first Indy game and quite enjoyed it. Also the LEGO Battles game for DS is great for what it is. (effectively being a cross of LEGO and classic war/starcraft)

I liked the line that preceded the Bionicle better, the Slizers - especially that they could be "combined" into gestalts.

Effectively up to... Hordika line, which was about 3-4 years in - Bionicle could also combine into Gestalts or other creatures.

You know, as a Bionicle fan, today is a somewhat big day for me and other fans. Why? Here is the reason:

Today, a new chapter of a Bionicle story serial was posted. Reign of Shadows, is the name of it. Well, as you guyswon`t know ANYTHIN much of it, Artakha, whom i have gotten my name from, have finally stepped out of the darkness and revealed himself. This is indeed a legendary moment, and will certainly be one of the mos epic moments of Bionicle 2010.

I've been on the news letter for this game a while now. It does look interesting, but not enough that I feel i'll be getting it.

On another front: I went to Wal*mart today and after seeing yet another lack of restock of Hasbro product found new Tiy Story LEGO, and I have to say the Army Men troop pack rocks.

Before you read this: Please don't judge me... I'm just sharing my story because people asked...

Wow... okay, I wasn't sure if I was ever going to tell anyone about this, but it's late and I'm sleep deprived so i guess I'll just write it now and regret it in the morning :/

First of all, - just for some background: My mom died right when I was born, (she was actually really, really hot- but this isn't about her. I guess that's **** up to say, but whatever.) I actually grew up with my dad's family, because my dad has all sorts of emotional issues and he bailed before I was born. So you can see, my childhood was really kind of messed up.

Anyways, growing up I feel like there was always a lot of distance between me and my sister. When I was about 17 or 18 I first noticed that my sister was a hottie.

I don't want to go into to many details about it, but basically what happened is that I accidentally found a video that she made of herself. I knew she didn't make it for me- but I thought she was so **** beautiful that I watched it twice. (probably would have watched it a hell of a lot more, except that like right around the time I found the video, all this crazy **** went down and I had to leave home. (My dad's family who I was staying with got in bad trouble with the law. I never talk about it).

Sooo... I was totally lusting after my sister at that point. She was also having bad trouble with the law. She was actually in custody when I left home.

My friend and I went to go pick her up. When I saw her that day, after seeing the video, I have to be honest, I just wanted to **** her brains out. Looking back on it now, it's pretty messed up- but I think she had feelings for me too. She actually kissed me right after we came to get her... and it wasn't a sisterly kiss, you know? I mean, it wasn't like ridiculously sexual or anything, but it definitely wasn't sisterly.

After we left, we all went to crash with my Sister's friends. On the trip there, my friend sort of implied that he wanted to get with my Sister, and I got a little jealous. He's a good looking guy- and even though she was my sister- I just felt like he was competition. Not much else happened between us for a while except some maybe-sexy hugging.

Pretty much everyone in my life at that point was wanted by the government, so we all moved around a lot. I'm not saying that I'm proud of it or anything, but it was kind of an awesome time.

My friend and my sister never hooked up I don't think- but I thought there was some serious sexual tension going on between them. It was around that time that I got really badly hurt in an accident. It was **** up. I almost died. But when I was in recovery my sister came to see me, and out of the clear blue sky she started gives me this awesome, slow, passionate kiss on the lips.

Sadly (although, I guess for the best) nothing ever came of it. We spent some time apart... and I started to get really religious, so I tried not to think of her that way. It was actually going well for a long time- like I was totally over her. But I have to say, like a year or so after all that stuff went down, we were out sailing (not like a date or anything romantic like that), and she was wearing like the hottest bikini I've ever **** seen and it brought back all the old feelings. Sigh.

A little while later she actually wound up with my friend from before (the sexual tension guy). I can't say I was surprised.

But even after she was shacking up with my friend, there was one time we were at a party... my friend was inside, and my sister and I were outside alone. It was a really intimate moment. I think something might have happened, except that I killed the mood when I told her that Darth Vader was our father and that I had to go face him.

Exactly the same as I was thinking. But thank you for your story Luke.

Coming up after the break: Lee is having problems relating to his father, lost his ex-wife and believes his best friend could be an angel, Is he crazy or just confused? We'll talk with him and find out.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD: PLESE STOP READING IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BIONICLE`S PREDESECCOR LINE

HAYAS! Artakha Prime calling.

So, if you are a BIONICLE FAN, like me, you would know that the sets will be discontinued. So, no more BIONICLE sets.

BUT, we were also informed that a new line would be made, based on the same building platform as BIONICLE.
This line, called "BIONICLE`S PREDESECCOR" among many members on BZPower.com(biggest BIONICLE fan-site), and was speculated about, as no pictures or names were given.

That ends today.
I have found pictures of the new line on Brickself(LEGO gallery site), and they are actually very good pictures. The line is called "Hero Factory". Here`s some links to the gallerys. The first is the best, with the best pics and more pictures.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=416210

Man, are those sets AWESOME. They are a LOT better than ANY BIONICLE set EVER.

I am going to buy at least one of them.

I can't take credit for it. Someone posted it on another forum I visit in response to one of those, "Who are you really, in real life?" threads. It was too awesome not to repost, even if I did have to shoehorn it.

Anyone else pick up the LEGO Toy Story Army Men yet?

Nope, I really do not want to open that can of worms...but I can't say it will never happen, I am just resisting it.

don't resist, you'll hate yourself later. The rest of the line is useless unless you really like the franchise, But the Army Men set rocks. The color is spot on, the bases included for the traditional feel are a brilliant touch, and making one of them a medic was inspired.

if anyone hasn't seen them yet, check http://www.lego.com/ToyStory/en-us/Prod ... .aspx#7595

I know if they make more sets for them, I'm stuck cause I'll buy it no questions asked, but for now I could easily end up buying at least a second box.

Once I ran an Anime festival with over 6,000 attendees. Now... not so much.
