For those not aware, Zero Punctuation just did a scathing review of the game. Of course, every review he does is scathing so just take it for the entertainment value.

Zero Punctuation Other M review

Cleared the main game. The ending seemed to have missed a few points, the identity of the deleter being a good one. Hopefully it's covered in the post-credits game.
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

I'm about 4 hours into it now and I love it! This game captures the feel of classic Metroids way better than the Prime series. Samus is pretty much the way I imagined her to be. She doesn't talk much, but she's always deep in thought. Ok enough rambling, I'm missing valuable play time.

Sometimes I wonder if that guy really enjoys any game at all.

This game certainly does capture that classic feel more than the Primes! It's my third run-through now (on my own Wii =P), and the controls feel pretty fluid now I've gotten used to them. I really hope there's more offerings like this in the new year. Thought hopefully, they make em a bit longer. I'd like that.

As an aside, everything about fightings Desbrachians is awesome.

He's done a few positive reviews. No More Heroes, the Orange Box, Psychonauts, the first Mass Effect, one or both Left 4 Dead games. Technically he also gave Duke Nukem Forever a good review.

I just beat it and I'd say it's one of the best in the series. The controls were great I had no trouble getting used to anything.

!!SPOILERS TO BE HAD!!
The story and characterization are perfectly fine. Even the infamous Ridley scene didn't bother me given the context. Samus was more shocked that he came back from the dead than anything. I'd be frozen to the spot too, that's the kind of thing you can't brace yourself for. The story was good, there were some good twists that I wasn't expecting. The Deleter subplot was kind of pointless, they could have done a lot more with that.

Overall I'd give it an 8.5, it was pretty short and some of the upgrades came too late to really enjoy them.

That's a fair assessment. The gameplay itself is very well done, if lacking in originality of weapons and armor upgrades. but there were so many scenes that simply didn't require voice-overs. Less is more is generally a good rule. I would have kept the cutscene voices but any narratives or voiceovers should have been cut.

Still, Team Ninja did an admirable job for the 1st attempt so hopefully they take the player's comments to heart if they make a sequel. I'd call it "Metroid: other Other M"

Quick question-

How long is this game? I have read several remarks here and otherwise that say it is a bit short for a Metroid game. In comparison to the games in the Metroid Prime series, what is the length like?

I beat it will 100% in 11 hours on my first playthrough. It's shorter than the Prime games but longer than the 2D games.
