I haven't seen Brooklyn 99 because I don't think Andy Samberg is funny. Not on SNL anyway.

While he is the lead actor, the rest of the cast get plenty of time in the spotlight, and they more than make up for it.

This, it also helps that they vary the match ups if the characters and they all have amazing chemistry. Also captain Holt with any character makes the show.

We need more Scully and Hitchcock though.

To be fair scully and hitchcock have been increasing in their screentime. I'm looking forward to watching S3 when it hits the UK in January time as that will allow me to catch up on the end of S2

So after a few weeks, Quantico and Blindspot keep me just enough interested to keep watching.

I don't see Quantico going for many seasons, in fact, I'd be surprised if it makes it past two (even though they could wrap this story up in one).

Blindspot could go a few seasons, but I can see it getting repetitive and boring, like The Blacklist has become.

Those are 2 shows I've never seen. Has anyone here watched Last Man on Earth?

Also, I saw Spectre last night, and it was pretty good. I thought Christoph Waltz made a really good Blofeld, but they really underused Dave Bautista. I kept thinking he would show up at the end to fight Bond 1 more time, but he didn't. At least he wasn't killed on screen, so hopefully he comes back in sequels, especially since Blofeld didn't die either, so he will probably be back as well.

OK so in between, work , kids, and the flu I finally got to see this with Mrs Lube (yes I know how that sounds). I've gotta say I've been super hyped about this film since the title reveal. For years I've wanted Blofeld to return. I was interested how the organisation would function in the modern day setting and hoped we didn't just get another SPECTER Lite as in Quantum of Solace. I'll get to that soon.

Let's start at the beginning, finally a proper gun barrel, not one worked into a scene, not one tagged on to the end, a proper Maurice Binder gun barrel! I'm already a happy bunny! The opening sequence is on of the richest in the franchise, and seemed to reference almost every Bond film before it, I was instantly reminded of Live and Let Die, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Licence to Kill and For Your Eyes Only and it was only 15 minutes in. Beautifully shot and an excellent balance of suspense, humour and excitement.

Song time... It's ****! I really don't get why they used the disposable X Factor fodder for this. It's not that the songs bad, as it works really well when worked into the score, it's the chinless wonder that sings it that's off, but it's a small part of the film and it's not the first Bond song I've hated. Daniel Klinemans title sequence however was once again top notch! I love how he incorporates Craig into the sequences, and like Skyfall there's an delightfully ominous feel to it.

OK now here's my major problem with the film, Bond going rouge, I don't have a problem with it in principle, it was necessary in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, but it just seems to have become "a thing" of the Craig era, it adds nothing to the plot in SPECTRE, Bond could have easily been assigned to each and a very mission in the film and the outcome would have been exactly the same.

I chose to ignore the "rouge" nonsence early on and focuses on enjoying what I could, fortunately there was a hell of a lot to enjoy. The Rome section was excellent. The way Oberhauser was introduced was both exhilarating and terrifying in equal measure. Something about that shadowy figure dealing out death with a tilt of the head and a whisper in the ear was devilish in its execution, and an excellent car chase with a delightfully rediculous conclusion rounds off thing nicely.

The inclusion of Mr White was a nice touch and helped to directly tie previous films to the plot and none of it felt particularly forced due to the omnipresent and almost supernatural nature of SPECTRE (no doubt intentional). Which brings us to Madelene Swann and another excellent sequence in Austria, yes it's silly in places but it's done so well you can't help but suspend your disbelief and roll with it.

TRAIN FIGHT! Can't beat a good train fight in my opinion, and this one perfectly balances From Russia With Loves brutality with Live and Let Dies frivolity, it's a joy to watch and pure Bond through and through.

Now on to our first real look at SPECTRE as an organisation, I was very happy to see that it was the same old organisation using modern day tech to make the remain relevant. OK yes the "big reveal" was pretty obvious and most viewers will be way ahead of the game, but Christof Waltz' superbly disturbing performance makes the whole SPECTRE HQ sequence compulsive viewing.

Wrapping things up is a fantastic London sequence where Team MI6 wage war on enemy's at home I'm pretty sure the real head of MI6 doesn't go running round the streets of London infiltrating buildings and such like but it's great to see Fiennes' M stretching his legs and showing he can "Walk the walk" as such.

In conclusion SPECTRE offered everything I wanted from a Bond film. All the pre-requisites are present and correct, we get a proper SPECTRE organisation after all these years and it manages to tie all the Craig era films into a cohesive story ark quite successfully.

Most reviews I've seen and most of my friends are saying "it's good but it's no Skyfall". Now I would say that this film tops Skyfall quite comfortably, Skyfall is a great Bond film but it has a fair few plot holes, and some pretty silly moments. SPECTRE suffers from the same issues but their not as in your face and I think SPECTRE tells a much more cohesive story than the somewhat bloated Skyfall.

Rating

*****

Went and saw Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2. I could have made a better decision on how to waste my life. :(

I read the books, I enjoyed the books, but with each movie they got worse and worse, as did my respect for Jennifer Lawrence.

Part 1 was boring, but I expected that, it was the first part of the book, the second part is where the action is suppose to pick up yeah?

No. It didn't. It went through the motions ... slowly. I still fail to see how anyone could be inspired by Katniss Everdeen. She seems to survive solely on luck, then makes a couple of rousing speeches (which honestly, anyone who went through what she did would do the same thing, she's not special, and by far, not the best female character ever). Why she's hailed as a hero is beyond me, as a figure head, she did very little fighting across the movies. Many died supporting her, and we're suppose to feel her pain with all the trauma she's endured. As an actress, Jennifer Lawrence made that hard to believe.

What I thought would be an emotional part of the movie, the death of her sister Prim, was anything but. It was a blip on the screen.

Save your money, even if you're a die hard fan.

I've never understood why so many people think Lawrence is such a great actor. She is okay in some roles, but never fantastic.

Oh, Jenny, really? You shoot a couple of arrows and you think that makes your character better than Korra? Samus? Shepard? Kusanagi? C'mon, Katniss isn't even in the top 10.

She'd be lucky to make the top 50.

That's all she did, shoot a couple of arrows, make a couple of speeches, and have many emotional breakdowns.

I wouldn't say I loved it, but it certainly wasn't the car crash others made out, better casting for Kyle Reese and dropping the "Pops" nickname would have pretty much fixed it for me.

I don't know how to feel about this but I'm leaning towards pointless. Actually tell a lie I do know how I feel, like this is far too late to actually mean anything. The first film is a guilty pleasure of mine and I still enjoy the build up at the beginning. However, it works best on its own (only thing good about this new installment is that it's keeping Jeff goldblume in work). Though it's a bit funny know that I think about it that we're getting this and a follow up to H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds next year (or was it 2017? )

No, thankfully not. It's a novel sequel to the original book
