Okay so I had a plain 20G iPod. This was pre-color screen era model + the first of the models besides mini's to use the click wheel. Anyway, it lasted me about 4 years, and it just "died" a couple months ago. I never dropped it or anything, so I can assume the battery is what has to be replaced. Anyway, I've managed since then to get around without it, but I figure it's time I replace it now.
Now, barring the chance it could actually be repaired, anyone have any advice on other mp3 players? As far as specs, I'd prefer it to have a screen. Oh and a workable program, unlike iTunes where it deleted songs off my library when I updated iTunes

i have a psp for an mp3 player. a four gig memory card works wonders. and all you'll need is a program called PSP media max manager which is 20 bucks at target.

What size are you looking for? I use a 4GB Sandisk Sansa. And I bought a 4GB microSD card for it for $11. So in total it cost me $120 for an 8GB MP3 player. It plays music and video, has a picture viewer, FM tuner, microphone and you can record the audio from the tuner or mic directly to the memory. Neat little feature to be honest. If I'm at work and can't listen to an interview on Opie and Anthony, I just start recording it and listen later.
And there is no program for transferring files. Unless you count Windows. It uses the basic explorer window for doing everything. Just plug it in and move your files to and from.

That sounds pretty good Iron-Man. To be honest, 20G was far too much space, and anything close to half of that would suffice.
I'm looking through the Sansa site right now. Is yours an older model or is it the e200?

Thanks for pointing me in the Sansa direction, Iron-Man, I ended up getting a Clip instead though. I love how simple it is to load music with drag and drop; not like the syncing crud with iTunes. Just got it today, and love it. Ridiculously small, but has a screen and was cheap to boot. Just what I needed

We actually just got one of those for our on hold music at work. It's like the size of a freaking shuffle but with a display screen.
