Looks like some early scans of the new magazine have been released, giving us our first look at the new dark type Pokemon and its pre-evolution. Of course, nothing is confirmed until the magazine actually comes out.

From what I can see, the names should be romanized as:

Pre-evo: Zoroa
Evo: Zoroaku

I hope the shiny version is white and red. @_@

Pretty cool IMO.I hope we'll get more brand new pkmn that good.Enough with the evolved/pre-evolved forms of previous generations pkmn...

Aww, but the pre-evolved forms are cute... And there's got to be something to pad the Pokedex numbers. ;P

You may be right. But, I don't think there are many pkmn fans waiting for some new baby pkmn(which are useless in battles)just to have some cute little monsters in their pokedex.

By the way,I wouldn't prefer another water-fire-grass starters trio.I mean there are 17 types of pkmn....some innovation wouldn't hurt anyone....

On the contrary, consider the target demographic of young children and especially the female side who are going to love small cute things. It works for older girls that still love cute things too! :P Both my fiancee and my best friend love to collect the cute ones.

Plus, Gen4 gave us Gallade, who is a great counterpart to Gardevoir, and I loooove Gardevoir. I love having Gardevoir and Gallade together in a team because they match and look cool standing side by side. So having more "variations on a theme" final evolution Pokemon can only be a good thing!

I agree with you on the starter types though. It'd be really cool but the problem is getting a triangle that works. Dark, Psychic, and Fighting would be perfect if it were not for the fact that Dark is immune to Psychic rather than strong which upsets the balance a little. The only other perfect triangle that does not include one of the original types would be Rock/Fighting/Flying. Not a terribly exciting trio. =(

Also, the Fire/Water/Grass starter triangle has become something of a tradition that I really can't see them wanting to break, unfortunately.

IMO the whole new-forms-of-old-pokemon thing along with the small ammount of nice new pokemon in each gen(especially 3rd and 4th)indicates a lack of creativity.
Personally,I wouldn't mind of either the baby pokemon or the new evolved forms(as you said some are pretty good)if there were 25-30 cool new pokemon in every new gen, which IMO doesn't happen(even the starters of D/P sucked).

I can't really agree with that, but it is a rather subjective matter so I can't say that you're wrong.

You don't like Empoleon? =x Rar! Empoleon was an awesome final form, but then I love penguins.

Empoleon, Staraptor, Luxray, Rampardos, Vespiquen, Mismagius, Honchkrow, Spiritomb, Garchomp, Lucario, Drapion, Abomasnow, Electivire, Magmortar, Togekiss, Leafeon, Glaceon, Mamoswine, Gallade, Dusknoir, Dialga, Giratina, Darkrai.

All really cool new monsters in my opinion. Infernape too maybe, but I don't particularly like primates. I know it includes new evolutions but they DO improve on the old ones, so it's almost 25, so I'd say we had a pretty good run!

Zorua and Zoroark look cool, and I hope there will be some new evolutions for the old pokemons too (completeing the Eevee types for once, or some new takes on older bug-pokemon (Pinsir, Heracross) in Gen IV, the new evolutions of older pokemons I liked were Leafeon, Glaceon, and Magmortar)

Yessss, I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Eevees. I really want a Dragon Eevee and a Steel Eevee. That'd be badass. It would be great to finally have a pure Dragon type. I really hate the 4x weakness to ice that everything bar Kingdra seems to have.

Dratini,Dragonair,Bagon and Shelgon are pure Dragons with 2x weakness to Ice.I love the Dragons too and always have a Dragonair instead of a Dragonite in my team.
But,ofcourse I will agree with you that we need a fully evolved Dragon with no wings..!

...Gee, thanks smarty pants, but they aren't final forms. There is very little point in taking an NFE Pokemon into a competitive battle. >,>;

Actually I'd rather they have wings as well as an alternative typing. That's what Levitate is for after all.

Not one, but TWO new new Pokemon! Despite apparently being pure Dark-type, it looks like it may have something to do with fire, maybe learning a few Fire-type moves?

What about a NFE pkmn with boosted stats(with Carbos,Zinc etc)?Would it work in your opinion? I am trying to make a Dragon team that would be able to succeed against almost any type.I use a Dragonair(Outrage,Flamethrower,Ice Beam,Thunderbolt),a Dragonite(Dragon Pulse,Flamethrower,Earthquake,Thunderbolt) and a Salamence(Dragon Pulse,Fly,Brick Break,Crunch)holding a Fist Plate. With these sets of moves I have a super-effective move against any type. But,still they are weak agaisnt Ice(the flyers get 4x)and other Dragons.Any pkmn/item/move suggestions fellow Dragon lover :?:

Stat boosted Pokemon are pretty much all you're going to find if you dabble in competitive battling. You're going to want to EV train properly in the field as well as using the vitamins. Vitamins can only take you so far, 100 EV points in each stat when ideally you want to get 252 for your focus stat.

That said, NFE pokemon just do not have the base stats to be much of a threat, they're going to be overshadowed by pretty much everything else you'll meet.

You might be able to catch people off guard with a fast, physical Dragonair. Pump all your effort into training its speed and physical attack, give it moves like Extremespeed and Outrage/Dragon Rush, so it hits hard and fast. Just don't expect it to take many hits. Dragon Dance maybe, if you think you can avoid a KO long enough to pump up Dragonair's speed and attack.

Or go for an attack boosting nature and have it hold a choice scarf. You'd definitely get some good use out of Outrage that way. (Just don't put Dragon Dance on a scarfed Dragonair.)

But if your only concern is the single player portion of the game, NFE pokemon are fine. The game's AI is not smart enough to beat you even if you want to run a team of six bouncing Magikarp. (Okay, maybe it could. ;p)

But if you want to play other people online or use the Battle Frontier, you're going to get raped with so many dragons. Running all dragons isn't a good idea because, as you said, they all share common weaknesses and you're going to get swept hard. =/ That's why Dragon is in dire need of some alternative sub-typing, Fire/Ice/Steel/etc. You could give Salamence/Dragonite a Yache berry, that will atleast protect them from one ice attack per battle.

Thank for the advice Tekka.
You may be right afterall,a Dragon only team wont'be a quite usefull team.
Maybe I should just work more on my Steel team (Empoleon,Lucario,Steelix,Metagross etc)which is much better for competitive battles due to the dual type pkmn it contains....

Sounds good if you must have a common theme! Steel is a great type, just watch out for earthquakes and heat waves.

Leading with Empoleon and Skarmory would probably be a good idea.

It'd work fine. For a start you get Gengar, who is still one of the best in the game for both physical and special attacks. Great strength, great speed, awesome move pool and has levitate which is always a plus.

Alakazam is another great sweeper, and there's Metagross who is and always has been a beast.

And Drapion+Weavile are also awesome choices for the Dark type.

And they all cover each other's weaknesses nicely.

Could I have a move super-effective against any type with these pkmn?I think these types don't learn a big variety of moves.
I could use pkmn like Tyranitar,Cacturne,Sharpedo and other dual types of course, but then the team wouldn't have the "sorcerous" character I want....

Don't worry too much if you don't have total type coverage, sometimes it's good to stall and chip away at a foe too.

Here's what I would do:

Gengar would be your front line sweeper:

Gengar
(Focus Sash)
Shadow Ball/Shadow Claw
Thunderbolt/Thunderpunch
Dark Pulse/Fire Punch/Ice Punch
Explosion

Then have a Dusknoir, so Gengar can blow himself up in doubles without killing his teammate.

Dusknoir
Shadow Sneak
Will-o-Wisp/Toxic (Dusknoir is a tank. So use these to kill while you wait.)
Protect/Pain Split (To help with stalling the enemy.)
Trick Room

Use Trick Room before Dusknoir goes down or before you switch in Metagross. Metagross is already a beastly tank, but with Trick Room in effect it turns from a Tank into a Gunship and will rape everything in its path.

Metagross
(Wide Lens)
Bullet Punch (Just incase you don't get Trick Room started.)
Meteor Mash
Zen Headbutt/Earthquake
Explosion

Then Alakazam to cleanup.

Alakazam
Psychic
Energy Ball
Signal Beam
Shock Wave/Hidden Power(Rock/Ground)

And for the last two Pokemon just choose whatever you fancy...

That's what I came up with off the top of my head anyway. If you talked to someone who's more up to date on their modern competitive movesets than me, you might find something much better.

Lol. Don't come back and yell at me if it doesn't work out. >P

I'm not that good really. There are a lot of really great players out there that beat the tar out of me on a regular basis, but I do my best.

The important thing though, is to do your best, use your favourites, and have fun! ...Right?

That's why, even though she is outclassed by Alakazam in every way, I will always use Gardevoir. :x

Anyway...
This is going to be a great year for Pokemon.HGSS will be released in about a month I think and the 5th gen is on it's way..!
I am really excited about the remake of the 2nd gen games,IMO the best and most complete pkmn game till now.Of course they don't have neither the features not the graphics of the GBA and DS games, but still they have the best story and the whole 3-years-after Kanto quest was epic.
