Quick fix to bulky seeker arm cannons......

Postby decepta-scott » Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:50 pm

I wish I could post pics of what I did but this damn cpu. :-x
Anyhow, I bought some clear, small ruberbands for pigtails, Took the missels out of the launchers and ruberbanded the missels to the arms of the seekers. Viola!!!
I put one band high on the arm above the elbow joint and the second low below the elbow joint. It takes four bands per figure. The bands are so small that you dont have to double them up or anything. They fit tightly arount the arms without multi wraping them. Since they are clear you cant see them either.
I know I know. It probably sounds stupid and people are more than likley turned off at having to use a ruber band and I didnt think Id like it when I tried it, but I ended up loving it.
Now I can pose my seekers with their arms and guns out in front of them without having to pull their wings way back. Not to mention it looks alot more toon accurate.
I went back and put the launchers back on to see what I thought after a while of having it the other way and I can honestly say that after looking at them without that bulky launcher it just looks silly with the launcher now.
Again, I wish I could show you pics but I simply cant. If anyone were to try this Ill bet theyd love the look especially if they were like me and were tired of having to sacrifice posability and look because some kid somewhere wants to suck on a null ray.
Has anyone else done this already?

..............The left over bulky missle launchers ofcourse! Duh hip hop!

Hip-Hoptimus Rime wrote:J/K, I like the idea of slim sleak null rays, nice.

Yeah. It really looks alot better than people would think. I mean it looks as if that were how it was ment to be. Truley after seeing them all with the rockets on the arm instead of that big ol launcher I couldnt stand the look of the launcher anymore when I put them back on briefly.
Again I wish I had pics. That is I wish I had a means of up loading my pics. I actually do have pics and lots of em. I would like to show all my collection, my wife and I, my critters (dogs) and a few other collections I have. Im gonna make getting those pics on the pub here a bit closer to the top of my things to do list now that I think on it.
I would like to see if members think the poses Ive come up with are as cool as I think they are.

Anyhow, yes, my first thoughts are that would I dislike using something as makeshift as rubber bands to attach the null rays / missiles to the seeker arms, but I am however intrigued by the idea, so I'd definitely be interested in seeing how it looks.

I agree. Were I a member reading a post where another member was telling me to ruberband something to a figure, particularly a part as important as the primary weaponry for the seekers I would pay it no mind.
Bearing in mind that screamer is my all time fav and Id never have him looking silly, the clear bands look great! They look great because they cant be seen. It is as if the missles were glued at the shoulder.
Im gonna try n get those pics up. I just need access to the tower of this cpu, but its in the back room and I cannot go in there. Cannot go to the towers at my library either.

Im sure u have facebook, everyone does. Upload it there normally and stuff. when its all done, go into your album normally, and then open the picture. Right click it and select "view image". A new tab will appear on your browser giving the "pure" image ... copy the URL (it ends with a .jpg/.png something like that) and post it here :D

Hope this helps

Why not just have the Seekers hold the guns by hand like machine guns or something. Iirc, in Master Builder, old Starscream held them that way.

Although i dont have any Seekers myself but holding them like that removes the unique awesomeness they have by being shoulder mounted weapons.

It was unique alright, except in all 5 minutes of it after the henkei /classic wing design/missile length boo boo.

No seriously, I simply cannot have my seekers going about with hand held null rays. The very fabric of time could tear were they to do that.
Plus they just dont look half as cool or retro without the arm mounter null rays. Im tellin ya if u could see how they look with just the missles stuck to their arms youd love it. the Posability increase alone is worth it.

IMO, having them hold the null rays is much easier and it doesn't require extra tools/materials to do.

I have no issue at all with simple mods like this. I'm a display guy myself and will often make such odd mods to my figures to get them to look better/more screen-accurate (you should see my Beast Wars shelf, a LOT of mods/paint apps going on there :P).

I say if it looks better/more accurate and makes you happy, then there's nothing wrong with it at all and I'll likely try to do something similar myself, those massive guns always did bug me on the seeker mold, just way too out of scale for me.

Personally I remove them altogether, unless I'm setting up an action scene that requires them to have guns. Plus I have like... I think 10 seekers altogether, and I am NOT going to keep rubber bands for every single one!

You got ti hal! The bands Im refering to are clear like the ones you speak of, only exceedingly more flexable and smaller in circumfrence so that you have no need to double or tripple wrap them around the arm.

Off topic for a sec,Id like to take this oppertunity to publicly thank mr Hal7300 for giving me a spectacular deal on a figure Ive been aching for every since I began collecting these figures. Like my pal bionic radical before him, hal has given me help that without I would most likely not have acquired this figure. Both members mentioned are class acts and I thank them very much.

 You cant leave your seekers defenseless!! dose megatron know about this gross missuse of authority? You should be thrown into the brigg!!!! ;)
Really though, you can find the bands Im speaking of at any drug, dollar, or grocery store 100 to a box for just over a dollar. Its too simple, cheap and great looking a fix not to do. If youve got sky warp and/or t. cracker you can also get the same bands in black. you may like them better as the areas in which they will be placed are colored black which makes them 100% undetectable. Ive simply gotta get some pics up. I will try to get to my sisters appt and ask if she will let me fiddle with her cpu.

It still seems rather a pain to take off/put on 20 tiny rubber bands for displaying my seekers, especially when I don't keep them in one mode or another all the time... and 3 of them are Thundercracker #-o

I don't have as much of a deal against the bulky guns anyway, I just think the individual modes look cleaner without them.

***You have ten seekers?
screamer, cracker x3,skywarp,ramjet,thrust,dirge,sunfire(im guessing, or whatever the orange ones name is) and the green one (acid storm?). Is that right?***

You dont even have to take the bands off to transform them. You do have to pull the missles out from under the bands, but its a sinch to do. Putting them back is just as easy.
If you dont mind the bulky launchers, or have actually grown to like them then theres no problem with that. Enjoy! :D

Sunstorm, and if I recall, they didn't make a Classics/Universe/Generations/RTS Sunstorm toy.
He might have either 2 of another seeker or a custom figure...

um... no, not quite. Here's the list:

Classics Starscream(repainted as Thundercracker)
Classics Skywarp
Classics Ramjet
Universe Acid Storm
Universe Starscream
KO Henkei Thundercracker V2
KO Henkei Skywarp V1
Generations Thrust
Generations Dirge
Generations Thundercracker

The repaint TC now serves as a generic, the KOs are displayed with Universe screamer to look like a cohesive unit, and the official SW and TC serve as more their individual forms... at least that's how it is now

And all that's still not counting the extra Gen TC we ended up with because it was too late to cancel an order...
