No, they kept telling themselves to remember and bring something to melt the ice next time. They promised him that they shall remember! :P
and here I keep picturing Jetfire being held by 5 ice cubes and a rampant refrigerator with a TF Cog :P

I thought Slag was pretty good with the arsen and melting snow cones. :-? Who did remember to defrost the decepticon traitor?
The dino's didn't come along to the arctic. In the end it were Wheeljack and Sideswipe that freed Skyfire in 'Fire on the Mountain'.

Plus Skyfire has red, that one's all white, so it could have been anyone or just a ship.

Same with Powerglide there, he showed up in Ghost in the Machine. :-P

What really ticked me off was the way they handled Skyfire's character; at first he's a reluctant participant who really wants to be a scientist, then's he's just a big guy who's just sent to drop Brawn off in Peru, even though Brawn is clearly outnumbered and outmatched. He then does some espionage, even though he himself admits he's too damn big.

Way to go, Sunbow.

For me, both Jetfire and Powerglide lived on.

True, and Wheeljack came back from the dead in Victory. Maybe the Japanese have some secret resurection technology? Or it could just be terrible continuity, but thats boring!

Contrary to popular believe, the Japanese continuity did not split off with HeadMasters, but split off earlier with the beginning of season 3.

Originally, Transformers the movie was not released in Japan until much much later. Instead, season three became 2010. Basically the same, but with some minor changes. Instead of the Movie, it would be based on the Scramble city mini-series. Unfortunately of the Scramble City cartoon, only one episode was really produced (With Scramble City 2 made up of animation with the actual toys and turned into a long commercial basically, to tie the ends somewhat).

Scramble City was supposed to give their own explainations of events of where Metroplex came from and how Roddy and Galvatron came to power. Little changes from this was for instance that Trypticon wasn't born in Five Faces of Darkness, but as the translated writing put it, was repaired from his fight in Scramble City with Metroplex. Without the movie, characters like Wheeljack had not died in the Japanese story version.

When wouldn't he be? Skyfire didn't even die. We will never really know if that was Skyfire in "Dark Awakening", or just a Cybertronian jet that bore a striking resemblance to him. *shrugs*

D-Soundwave has a point. That same episode shows Skydive as a ship in the Autobot fleet. Then it shows him inside Optimus Prime's flagship. I also remember "Ultra Magnus's birthday" where the Combaticons blew up an Autobot ship that looked just like Air Raid.

I mean, it's up to you on wether or not that exploding Autobot ship was Skyfire, but it wouldn't necessarily be so.

Only part that bothered me was the fact he got hurt so easily.

Does it really matter? What does death imply for a Transformer, that there's a 50% chance that they will not appear in the next episode and will certainly return within three?

There's also the fact that many Arialbots were blown up in that battle, but returned in "Rebirth" only to get blown up again... twice.

In newer series yes, but this is G1 they don't come back ever! Well, except for starscream and prime.

Skyfire is not in that ep. That's jsut random character models shown to represent a fleet (unless Powerglide has aquired the ability to fly in space). I'm getting deja vu here. :???:

I view Wheeljack (and Windcharger) as not dieing in the move. They were just horrifically disfigured and comatose. They eventually came back later (Windcharger in Call of the Primitives) and Wheeljack in Victory (Wheeljack tacking longer to recover). I know this isn't officially true, and no doubt people are going to say "But they did die. Windcharger was only on screen for 1 second and blah blah blah Wheeljack". I don't care. This explains the appearance of those two and the change in character of Wheeljack.

BTW If they had died in the movie, why did they still have colour in their bodies? Perhaps because they wanted Prime to have such a dramatic impact when he faded. Perhaps because the only 2 to loose colour when they died were the only two to return properly (Prime and Screamer). It supports my twisted version of events, and I'm sticking to it. 8)

If there were ever plans to include Skyfire in TF:TM, they were dropped fairly early on. Some of you may remember hearing about how the company that made the original Japanese toy sued the cartoon producers for copyright infringement (this happened despite numerous changes to the design). This may help to explain why "Fire in the Sky" and "Fire on the Mountain" seem to contradict one another.

Incidentally, for that scene in "Dark Awakening" they just grabbed whatever animation models were availble, though they did draw some new jets. I'd take anything Akom does with a grain of salt, since Powerglide and the Aerialbots are clearly alive in later episodes.

Skyfire's final fate remains a mystery, but given his spaceflight capabilies, he really could have been one of the Autobots slagged by the Quintessons. Heck, the animators could even have done this intentionally, since at that point the character was considered a "write-off."
