:BOT: Oh yeah... at the theater we went to, NO ONE knew what movie it was referencing. People claimed they were ripping off movies from Grease to Austin Powers. Even our good friend, who's a film major, didn't know what movie it was  :CON:

I would of loved to had heard Stayin Alive during his strut

I noticed in the theater this HUGE Transformers ad it was at least 10ft in lenth and about 6ft in highth

It had Primes head on one side and Megatrons on the other staring at each other with Spike and the girl in the middle and across the bottom was written Transformers

I would of never had the room for something like that

I watched it last night and I thought it was great. There were a few things I didn't like. The biggest one being Venom. They either should have saved him for another movie or gone without him.

I for one would like to see a 4th movie.

Okay, just got home from seeing it the first time and hear is my two cents.

First, it was better than I thought it would be since I worried about it having three villians given what three villians did to the Batman movies.

Second, James Franco (Harry) wasn't excellent, but it was the best performance he has done in these films. This time his acting was good whereas, in the first two, it was sub-par.

Now, for the negatives: (most revolve around Venom because he is my favorite Spidey character even more than Spidey)

1.) They never even said Venom in the entire thing.

2.) Topher Grace did ok (nothing against him personally), but I am a huge fan of the 90's show and, in the show, Eddie Brock was not an exact copy of "bad" Parker. He was maybe 10 years older and much larger built. I don't like the whole skinny Venom.

3.) When the symbiote first takes over Parker it appears to grasp onto his suit altering it into the new suit, which makes sense since Parker is later able to take it off and put it in the chest, but then when he removes the symbiote there is no other suit underneath. Again, I like it in the 90's show where the symbiote can change appearance to become Peter's clothes.

4.) (maybe) It is great to see Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell with bit parts once more, but Peter should have, at least, said something to Campbell's character like: "Hey, haven't I seen you before???"

Other than these four opinions/suggestions, this movie did great, it is understandable that Venom had to be destroyed at the end, since it was a movie and not a many-episode show, but I do hope that they do continue the sequels and come up with a way to bring in Carnage and, even though it seems highly impropable, the return of Venom.

Ditto. Even though I'm a nerd, I was fighting myself from shouting "NERD!" at the screen while he was doing that.

I agree with negatives 1 and 2. The director should give the fans what they want not what he wants. Why did they hype Venom up soo much through the posters, tv spots and the toy line. He's named Venom as a toy so why no spoken name in the film?

Well, for all the complaints about Venom, I can at least lay some of them to rest.

Venom has in fact teamed up with other villains before to take out Spider-man, he was apart of the Sinister Six, however, he keeps Parker's identity a secret so he could have his revenge all to himself at anytime and anyplace.

Now, why his name wasn't spoken. They really couldn't go through the whole back story with Venom within such a short time-frame.

The only reason Eddie chose the name Venom, is because after he was fired from the Globe, he could only find work at the supermarket tabloids, writing "venomous filth." So he chose the name Venom, because it's what Spider-man and Parker reduced him to doing.

They tried to bring in wayyyy too many characters in one movie, so a lot of things had to be cut out, so the characters couldn't be fleshed out totally, or in some cases, at all.

Indeed which is why compared to the earier two films this fails. In 1 & 2 we were given plenty of back story for both Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus respectively, therefore it meant something and made sense to us when they did the things they did. Sandman and Venom didnt get this luxury and the film suffered as a result. They really could have made the entire movie about the Harry Osborn thing and it would have been a hell of a lot better, Vemon could have be focused on in the next movie.

3) Perhaps because the symbiote had been bonded to Parker for so long, it absorbed into his suit, becoming one and the same.

4) I was expecting something similar.

Bruce Cambell doesn't realy have anything to do with SPiderman, but he was Ash in the Evil Dead movies and almost everything Sam Raimi has directed, they're like best friends or something.

and on a related note, in Marvel ZOmbies Vs. Army of Darkness, Spiderman webs Ash up thinking he's a nutcase just before becoming lunch.

Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are best friends.

Also, Bruce Campbell had a cameo in the Sam Raimi film Darkman, he played Darkman for like 30 seconds at the very end of the film, where Darkman puts on a new face and disappears into a crowd, he looks back, and boom, it's Bruce.

I noticed that, too, but didn't he write it in webbing at the end? Can't remember.

I don't want to see Carnage. I think he's a fine character in comics, but Carnage is such an R villain. If he were brought in, either he would either totally darken the Spidey movies or we'd see such a tamed version of Carnage that he wouldn't even be him. Imagine a Spidey movie with a slaughter, or Carnage without the slaughter. Besides, we've already had one derivative villain in the movies.

I thought this movie was better than one or two myself It showed romance, comedy and violence.

BTW I found it very funny that in one part where Peter pushes MJ on the floor people in the audience yelled "OH SNAP!"

There are some elements that I liked. Flint Marko/Sandman is great. Just like Doc Ock, he has a convincing motivation to what he's doing.

Pretty much all the action scenes are amazing to watch.

I love the whole Evil Dead feel with some of the symbiote scenes. Especially when it's crawling out of the ground, looking like Ash's chopped off hand.

Bruce Campbell is teh awesome.

I also didn't like the Saturday Night Fever and Jazz scenes. I think the audiences responded so much to "Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head" in Spidey 2, the filmmakers felt we needed more scenes like that. Didn't work so much this time around.

Is it me or did all the Peter/Mary Jane scenes have the worst dialogue? It seriously reminded me of Hayden Christensen & Natalie Portman in Episode III.

And the butler? Deux ex machina. Nuff said. :CON:

I know what you mean about the whole Evil Dead stuff. When the symbiote first lands I couldn't help but smirk at the POV shots stalking Peter and MJ on their motorcycle in the woods none the less. Still, it made me fearful that baddie Parker was gonna use that "Gimme some sugar baby" line on some woman.

For other works that Raimi and Campbell have done, lets not forget the old Xena/Hercules shows.

On a similar note, I was the only one in the theater to make any sort of sound when Stan lee came on and said stuff to Peter. I giggled like a school girl. My dad and Tha Tweezrrr gave chuckles when I explained it to them.

Also, I'd much rather see Hob Goblin as a villain a future movie.

As a villain who would end the series, why not Morlun? Even though he's dead (And remember the Comic Book Death Rule: No One Stays Dead), he already put every other Spidey villain to shame. Of course since his hobby is hunting totems like Peter, he could be teamed up with Kraven the Hunter.

Well I just came back from seeing it.
Can't say I was all that impressed. It was decent but the story just did a bad job at pulling me in. Emo spidey was kinda cool cause he was kicking ass but that M.J whore was so annoying (Sure she looks good, but her personality sucks). Meh.
I am by no means a Spiderman expert but I always expected Venom to be... ya know, cooler.
