He can't. Unicron is the size of a planet, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is large enough to pick up and throw entire galaxies. TTGL just picks up Unicron and crushes him in between its fingers. I'm not sure how the incredible size different escaped you, but this is a highly one-sided fight.

Chouginga Gurren Lagann would be more than a match for Unicron.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is overkill, it would be like stepping on a microscopic speck of dusk. TTGL is over 10 million light-years tall...

I don't think Unicron could even handle Gurren Lagann. I mean... he is powered by coolness

Hm, after watching the final battle, it seems the mechs are only that big in the Anti-Spiral universe, when the Earth...ians could see them due to that rippy thing, they were only a few buildings tall.

However, I still think TTGL'd win because it took that double Galaxy "big bang" blast without flinching. Super TTGL'd probably just be a massacre and considering it holds TTGL in it's head...

Which incarnation of Unicron?

Remember that comic Unicron originally snuffed out a universe (which contains galaxies) before Primus was around. Well that and he can't really die, he'll just restore himself in another dimension.

You guys are pitting a guy who can wield galaxies against one who crushes complete dimensions.

That attachment is contradicted by every appearance of Unicron ever. If he destroyed entire galaxies by being near them, why did he have to transform to destroy Cybertron with his bare hands?

EDIT: Also being a singularity only seems impressive until you realize that Primus and the Original 13 are also multiversal singularities.

Also, no, Unicron didn't destroy a Universe; that Universe reformed itself shortly after (And they never did say how long it took), and when Unicron tried to destroy it a second time, Primus put the kibosh on it, ensuring that if he's going to destroy anything, he's going to have a vulnerable physical form.

Primus cancels him out, Unicron can suck up a dimension after he destroys its version of Cybertron. This was explained in the Armada/Energon comics.

Good observation, but the remaining members of the 13 have their hands full dealing with Unicron and often fail at this (as mentioned by Vector Prime).

Shadowman wrote:Also, no, Unicron didn't destroy a Universe;

My bad, he destroyed the original core reality.....which contains the universe.

Retconned in the current story, the One split the original Unicron into Unicron and Primus. He created multiverse probably for entertainment (they didn't have TV back then).

Well that's because two of them (The Fallen and Liege Maximo) are actively working against the rest. And Nexus Prime was/is basically inactive (And spread out across dimensions), Alpha Trion doesn't do much of anything, and over half of them aren't even named! In fact, the only two we've seen actually do anything of importance were Vector Prime and the Fallen.

Likewise, they don't always fail. In the Aligned continuity they successfully drove him away from Cybertron, and so far he hasn't tried to come back.

I've seen this before on a few other forums. Surprised it hasn't popped up here until now it seems...

For those thinking that size would be a decisive factor in this fight, wouldn't Unicron probably be capable of changing sizes? Considering he usually eats things in his planet mode and he's eaten stars before, it would be a logical assumption.

I'd argue that since Unicron can't exactly be completely destroyed, he'd have a much greater shot at winning, but TTGL runs completely on willpower and makes the impossible possible just because its pilots have burning justice. Pretty much all of your logic and common sense need to be thrown out the window when talking about it. I think the argument pretty heavily depends on how much weight you put into the fact that TTGL can make the impossible possible.

The Fallen is spending most of his time in prison and only sometimes manages to get out.
Liege Maximo only cares about himself, he's never been seen working with or against any of the original 13 after he left Cybertron.

Your info on Nexus Prime is outdated, he was completed a short while ago in the Shattered Glass universe. His powers are quite formidable:
- He easily beat Omega Doom (who in turn easily crushed Abominus)
- He restored SG Megatron into a new incarnation of Galvatron (a good version that is).
- He restored a sun to keep it from going nova.

Unicron is locked in a eternal struggle with Primus and by extension the Primes from various incarnations. He becomes the second most powerfull creature ever when Primus is out of the picture (The One stands on top of the foodchain).

At any rate, we've discussed these guys, now I'd like to hear why you think that Tengen Toppa what's his face would beat Unicron.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The fact that you didn't know it's name means you should probably not be discussing any of this.

Gurren Lagann (And it's larger forms, including Tengen Toppa Gurren Langann) are powered by Spiral Energy; that is, sheer force of will. This includes anything from wanting damage to go away, to skipping through dimensions just because something the pilots want is on the other side. It's been shown surviving an energy attack equivalent to the Big Bang and still coming out on top. And it grows exponentially over time, to the point that the main antagonists of the series are trying to wipe out the heroes because the heroes are inevitably going to cause the end of the universe.

Short version: Gurren Lagann is powered by Awesome.

Never mind the fact that tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is large enough that it can simply crush whatever galaxy Unicron is in with its bare hands, then skip to another dimension and do the same there.

TTGL fails to detect U. Millions of years later, TTGL feels unwell and goes to the doctor. After several medical tests, the doctor says that TTGL has terminal U disease. The sneaky U has been eating him slowly from the inside. There's no cure. U himself is too small to find. TTGL dies in pain soon afterwards. U wins but it takes a very long time.
