The god gambit...

Postby decepta-scott » Wed Sep 14, 2011 11:25 am

Or maybe the god gauntlet was a toon in the first or second season. I cant recall of hand but the main premis is that starscream astrotrain and one other decepticon arrive at some plannet and fool the inhabitants into believing them to be gods. Astrotrain plays the role of the most powerfull god after choking starscream into submission and telling him basically to shut up this is how its gonna be!!! The other con present even tells screamer at one point that they have to do as astrotrain says or he will blast em both to bits. Starscream dosent disagree.
My rant is why make screamer the second in command if they were just going to make him out to be such a sissy the whole toon? Why have astrotrain punk out starscream? Starscream should have been in complete control of that situation and weel able to put not only astrotrain in his place but the other decepticon present as well.
Further more they shouldnt have even crossed him as he is second in command. I realize I am picking apart a childrens toon but I remember thinking the same thing as a child. Just because it is a childs toon dosent mean they should toss rank and pecking order to the wind as if we wouldnt realize it.
I realize ofcourse that I say all this while being extreemely partial to screamer as he is my fav.
What say you??? :D

Screamer was a wimpy, whiny, traitorous Dog, I know, I'm Currently Watching G1 for the first time! I'm on episode 27-Micro-bots! I now know why everyone loves G1! It has this flare to it! I mean, every episode gets better and better, and having watched practically every OTHER TF Series out there, accept the exclusively Japanese ones, I see alot of references in G1, even that one scene in DOTM were megatron destroys lincoln and sits in his chair with starscream there? That was taken from Atlantis: Rising!
Anyhow, I like G1 now, and Screamer is def. one of my favs, but he's a whiny wimpy little tin turkey who gets his sides kicked in by everyone. even frenzy and rumble....

I believe the episode was originally written with different characters in mind (most likely Starscream in Astrotrain's place, etc), but things were changed up to sell the newer toys at the time.

Yeah, it's most likely Astrotrain was meant to be Megatron, but Astrotrain was the new toy out at the time and so they had to advertise it. So instead we get an Astrotrain who acts in very Megatron-like in this episode.

Starscream doesn't respect Megatron, Decepticons respect Megatron, Decepticons disrespect Starscream. Simple Math :P

I hadnt thought about the possibility that A.T. part was originally written for meg. That could be it I suppose. It just kills me that they would have the events of god gambit transpire but in contrast any time megs is gone, hurt, whatever screamer is able to assume leadership of the entire con ensamble with general ease. I cant recall anyone especially A.T. standing in screamers way to challenge for the crown.
Shockwave, soundwave all the seekers have been shown to cower down to screamer when given orders in megs absence but other times he is treated as a baffon. I just dont get it.......

"cower down"??? your exaggerating a bit.

Yes, they eventually followed his orders, but they never behaved in a manner I would describe as "cowering down" to Starscream.

I am glad to see you are alright sto.
Anyway, the toon comes to mind where megs is thought dead and screamer travels to cybertron and demands that shockwave do as he says. Also orders him not to contact megs. I Think there is also an epp where screamer makes a general threat to gun down the next con to second guess an order he has given. The surrounding cons look at their feet and there is silence.
However, I gues I would have to agree that "cowering" was a grose overstatement and come to think of it shock wave disobeyed screamers orders not to contact megs as soon as he left didnt he? Or did megs contact shock wave? Cant recal.
In any event I agree. Still there is a problem with consistancy with reguards to screamers authority here. :)

its good to be back :D

but I suggest you re-watch that episode [countdown to extinction] yes, Starxreams gives those orders, but Shockwave just downt blindly follow them.

I Think there is also an epp where screamer makes a general threat to gun down the next con to second guess an order he has given. The surrounding cons look at their feet and there is silence.

And as far as I remember that never happened, it the way you describe.

The closest [that I remember] was in the episode Starcreams brigade, he put a gun to Thundercrackers head and demanded passage threw the space bridge.

And even that I wouldnt consider "cowering down" because a gun to the head is going to make just about any one compliant.

In any event I agree. Still there is a problem with consistancy with reguards to screamers authority here. :)

not to mention that in the toon they never really [officially] stated that Starscream was 2nd in command.

I rather liked this episode. Rather... moderate stance on religion. It's not wrong to worship gods. Just don't let it get too out of hand. Also, the female Titan firing arrows at Perceptor and him barely noticing always makes me laugh.

By that image, you can guess who is one of my favorite TF character ever, all series combined.
G1 Starscream is a comic relief of sort. He's so arrogant, blunt, and stupid, it give him a charm. Why he's second in command? Easy: Megs want to have TOTAL control. So he keep an idiot at his side. But the 'cans way is the strongest and most cunning get to be the leader. Megs know very well of Starscream's intentions. Jeez, Screamers even bluntly tell him that one day he'll stab him in the back to lead! At this, Megs just respond to STFU.... because Megs must not become rusty and must be on guard at all times.

However, the most inteligent and cunning Starscream is the one in Cybertron or Galaxy Force. He's wise, very sly, cunning, and actually become almost a friggin' GOD! He even took on PRIMUS HIMSELF! Okay, that last part, he overestimated himself a bit, but it was still totally awesome.

The other most bad-ass Starscream is defenitely the one in TF:Prime. I cant wait to see more so final judgement can be made.

Runner-up is Animated Starscream. Funny, immortal, and shitstorm brewer. What's not to love?

Yeah I noticed you had a few screamer figures there. He is my fav too. ;)
I have heard several times that the comic starscream was a monster who regularly took on and beat top notch autobots and cons. By what Ive read(others post) it would not be an exageration to say that the cons and a few autobots cower to strscream. He was interprited as intelligent, powerful, the undesputed second in command and feard as one bad ass mo fo.
I have never read the actual comics but I have never seen anyone argue that any of the comments were inaccurate. So the comic screamer would be at the top of most able screamer incarnations. I wish he were portreyed that way in the G1 toons.

Yes. Now that you mention it I believe that the screamer which I am refering to was in the comic written by an author that was/is a fan of his. I believe he always makes sure screamer is portreyed as a toughy.

Yeah. I guess I didnt specify. As I understood it, Theyre were around five comics(?)
and two of them had the same writer. That writer liked screamer and made sure that he was portreyed as a bad ass. Good stuff Im sure. Wish I could get my hands on some of them.......

Thrthfully, I havnt the slightest clue which ones depict him as awesome. I do remember that I got my info via wicipedia. I typed in "who is decepticon starscream" and got a detailed description of him including the comments made about the writer who fancys him and his two incarnations that noticably favor him.
