That's a fair assessment. That's about what I thought, too.
He'd better be a devious sunnavabish because that look comes off more as creepy than scary.

Sounds like a '70s horror flick. Suddenly this has promise.

Wow. That is totally freakin' awesome. As if this movie didn't have enough promise, then they have to give us this disturbing-looking Joker. I hope he can mimic Mark Hamill's Joker Laugh, because that would make him 100% perfect.

I just hope they don't kill the Joker in this movie. It would be nice if they can make a sequel down the line when everyone breaks out of Arkham, and Batman goes batty trying to fight off all these super freak villains

Oh dear. I understand he's been obviously roughed up by Batman, but he looks far too goofy. The smeared face paint only makes him look kind of... pitiful.
Here's me hoping it would be something similar to:

It is very similar to that. I chalk the first image up to bad lighting. Enjoy a better shot direct from the movie.

See? Now that's more impressive. Despite the JOker's Harlequin portrayal in most media, he's still a toxically mutated burn victim and that's exactly how he should look in these style movies.
Maybe there's an official release of his movie bio, but I'm hoping they find a way to tie his origin into the end of the previous movie. My theory:
He was an arkham inmate caught in the insanity caused by the scarecrow's gas. Somehow, he absorbed an excessive amount (compared to the others) and was completely overwhelmed by his fears. His mind snapped and he simply lost his ability to fear, among other emotions. because of this, he lives on the edge, loves seeing other scared, and remains calm in even the most insane situations, finding joy and humor in what others were call terrifying.
Just a theory.

Agreed, I want Ceaser Romero back!
This looks like the greasy inner child of the violin guy from Revenge of The Nerds.

They should have started off with the Joker in "Batman Begins". When i think of Batman and his enemies, i firs think of the Joker then The Penguin, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and then the Scarecrow...Not in that specific order, but you get the idea. The Joker is always first on my list.

I think they started off with the right villain, myself.
Ra's Al Ghul feels like a better choice for "Batman Begins" to me because: 1) Given the character's motives and methods, it's actually more fitting to incorporate him into Batman's origin than to have the pre-Joker be the Waynes' killer for no reason whatsoever and then not bother to make the connection at all until the end of the film; and 2) Holding off on taking the Rogues' Gallery back to square one their first time out gives the filmmakers more time to develop the manner in which the numero uno archnemesis makes his return to the screen so that it has SOME difference from what was done before, something Bryan Singer should have heeded when he made "Superman Returns" - even if it was a sequel to Donner's films, an embittered Lex bent more on killing Superman and less on land would have been a plus.
I myself would have held off on reintroducing the Joker so soon.
