Now immediately press square and Snake will say "freeze" when they're on the ground.

The guards weapon will disappear and they will stay on the ground for the entire time that you are in the area. you don't even need to kill anyone or use ammo and they will be out for the entire time, unless someone finds them, in which case they will get up but only have a handgun so even in alert they will do less damage. Its better than stunning them or putting them to sleep because they never get back up on their own

Here's the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Dear Raiden,

Sorry for all the mean things we said about you. You're actually a pretty cool dude, especially when in the Cyber Ninja suit.

Much love, home-slice

That was awesome, Kojima-san may be a tease, but that makes the wait exciting. Too bad it's not coming to the 360 soon.

There were two endings: The "Otacon" Ending, where Meryl dies, and the "Meryl" Ending, where Meryl lives.

The "Meryl" ending is the canon one. This becomes much more apparent near the end of MGS2, when Snake comments that he has "Infinite Ammo." (The bandanna you get from Meryl gives you infinite ammo)

Saiyaman wrote:And is David Hayter doing the voice of Snake in this game, it didn't sound like him?

David Hayter's been doing Snake's voice since Snake started speaking. Since Snake is an old man, it's appropriate that his voice sounds much older. But they wouldn't get rid of David, even when they recast everyone for MGS3. (Which was a prequel, and didn't even have Solid Snake in it)

Well, I decided to boot up MGS 3 tonight, figure I might as well finish my second playing of it(as I said earlier in the thread I got halfway through). Anyway, I'm in the mountains, and I had a "Wow, that's why Metal Gear is AWSOME! moment".

One thing I enjoy doing in the Metal Gear's is just causing a rampage to see how long I can go before the guards kill me, without saving it of course(but saving beforehand). So I took out my sniper rifle and sniped a guard from far away. The alarm didn't sound, and one of the vulture's that flies around the area lands beside him. I think "hey, maybe it'll start eating him". Well, guess what? It does! I think it's so neat that they put little touches like that into the MGS series.

Oh, and blowing up the food supplies and making the guards hungry is fun too.

 dude, catch/kill the vulture that ate him and ring paramedic, you'll find it pretty funny. and if you eat it and do the Sorrow fight (or walk) keep an eye out for a guy with a vulture and what he says.

I also love all the ideas they come up with

I'll do that, thanks 8) .

And the fight with "The Sorrow" is one of the most interesting boss fights ever, cause it actually keeps track of who and how you kill enemies.

I dont' normally kill or tranq enemies unless I absolutely have too(though I ain't too great at stealth), but I'll make an exception for this little trick.

I doubt I have any kills on my MGS 2 file though, cause they'll show up in "The Sorrow" fight if I do. I think the first time I beat MGS 3 I had Vamp show up, cause I "killed" him with the Rocket Launcher in MGS 2.

Oh, what's everyone's opinion of the "Nightmare" mode? It's a true oddity, and it pretty violent. Think I read it was some kind of a demo for a game engine, but I don't think that game'll come out.

No. No MGS2 characters show up in the Sorrow fight. That's hardly a Boss battle, it's a cool idea, but hardly a battle.

The End is the greatest Boss fight in video gaming history however.

Not sure if this is old news or if anyone else has seen it, but somewhere on youtube there is a MGS4 trailer that initially implies the game to be a first person shooter, showing everything through the eyes & crosshairs of a PMC soldier, until Snake whips out from nowhere and disarms him with CQC. Bitchin.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that if you have MGS 2 data on your memory card, killed bosses would appear in The Sorrow sequence. And I could have sworn that I saw Vamp, but apparently I was mistaken, oh well.

If the End is the greatest boss fight in video game history, then the escape from Grazni Grad must be one of the most exciting ever. There is just so much action and thrills in that sequence, and it is easily the most impressive showing of a Metal Gear's(ancestor anyway) ability.

One minor bit of disapointment I had with MGS 3 was there were no mandatory battles with vehicles other than the Shagohod and guys on motercycles. The Hind D is in there, and that's awsome, but fighting it is optional, and it can be taken out with a single sniper bullet. All the previous MG games that are canon eitehr had a fight with a Hind D or a jet in MGS 2.

And I am in a Metal Gear mood, so I booted up Metal Gears 1 and 2 on the second disc of Subsistance for a second play-through. Agh, both games have their share of aggravation, mostly due to dated play mechanics. I do not like how your codec is useless at least one third of the time, and they normally don't even pick up! If not for gamefaqs, then I would have been pulling my hair out at some moments.

The second one aged MUCH better, and you can really see the actual genesis of Metal Gear Solid gameplay in this game. Hey, without revealing the story, can anyone tell me if Grey Fox pops up in Portable Ops? My friend just got it for PSP, and he said that Campbell is in it, and I'm thinking Grey Fox is in there too cause before he died, he mentioned that Big Boss saved his life twice before joining Foxhound, both times around the Vietnam war.

Who's ready for the Metal Gear anniversery pack?

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3161443

That stuff looks pretty cool, but it'd probably be pricey, and probably not a U.S. release either, but I could be wrong.

Grey Fox does show up in MPO but he really shouldn't hae. It changes the story and seems forced.

Hey guys, there's a new trailer up for MGS 4 introducing some new baddies: the "Beauty and the Beast" unit:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23891.html

They are all women, they're pretty much what that guy talking to Snake are.

The wolf like one is Crying Wolf. The flying one is Raging Raven. The octupus: Lauging Octupus. Finally, the puppeteer: Screaming Mantis.

Looks like a bunch of dangerous group of people. Sounds like fun!

All of those code-names (Wolf, Raven, Octopus, and Mantis) are the FOXHOUND members from MGS1.

Yeah, three of those four FOXHOUND members are male and dead, and the members of the Beast unit are women like I said, so I doubt that they're the same people. But still, I can't help wonder: Coincidence or connection?

Laughing Octopus looks cool, but I kinda wish they'd have called her "Medusa", cause the tentacles look like hair.

It's gonna be a great game.
