The Mega and Ultra Pretenders would work, but the regular Pretenders would need a lot of reworking or frankly to just give up the idea of putting the robot and the human/monster/animal disguise inside one another.

I wouldn't mind a 3-pack of Season 1 styled Seeker "Air Warriors" from either the Siege or Earthrise mold. Considering they'd be the perfect army builders and don't look half bad either, I'm surprised we've never got them in transforming toy form. Heck, Red Wing got a toy first and he literally only existed as a one-panel generic crowdfiller.

With the Flame Toy's Windlade hoopla going on, this made me want to try out one of their kits.

However, what I really want is a buildable model kit on par with Flame Toy's that actually transform.

So far, all we have are the Kabaya Gum kits and the Arms Micron minicons.

The English release of ""Transformers the Manga" would have been a good excuse to make a Guiltor Gilthor figure. The glorious insanity of that design deserves to be immortalized in plastic.

Am I the only one that thinks that Guiltor Gilthor would make a great voyager weaponizer? He's a mash-up of Optimus and Megatron (which seems oddly appropriate for a weaponizer), and he's got a whole lot of guns.

That actually sounds like a pretty neat idea, particularly since his Transformation seems like it requires some partsforming anyhow.

I know I harp on this a lot, and I might have said something in this vein already in this thread, but they don't have to limit themselves to RiD15-style figures if they want to make some more "vehicle-to-animal" TFs. It could work in Cyberverse (if it wasn't already ending) or even Generations; I know they're mostly focused on legacy characters now, but turning Micromaster bases into robots doesn't mean they have to be human-shaped robots.

Non-humanoid robot modes are the best, and I'd love to see more too. One of the things I loved about the movie designs was the more monstrous robot modes for some of the Decepticons.

That was a concept that I really loved. I would have like it to be explored further.
In the meantime, Alternator Ravage (pure cougar) do the job, but I want more in the same vein.

Actually, you know what I want? "Full size" versions of some Minicon designs. So for example, the Road Wrecker/Destruction team (Buzzsaw, Drillbit and Dualor) as properly poseable Deluxes.

Resurrect the G2 Gobots as part of the Earthrise or new line. Who doesn't remember these guys like?

Forgot about him from that really complex line. But Alternators was obscure and never came to northern Europe (Scandinavia) and Transformers: Cybertron got chosen instead (not that it was a bad series)

Well, Cybertron was a mainstream toyline with a show behind it. Alternators/Binaltech was a sideline aimed at collectors who also liked fancy model cars.

Honestly, looking back... I think Alternators/BT may have been one of the biggest wastes of fans' time and money in all TF.

There were some decent toys honestly, I had the Silverstreak from the line and he was cool. I do wish they were 1:32 instead of 1:24 though, if only because then they'd have been _roughly_ in scale with MPs.

Some molds are trash, (Optimus, Windcharger, Tracks, Sunstreaker) but other were the default Masterpieces for a long time.
Among those "Masterpieces" were Hound and Prowl. The Jazz mold was also pretty solid and with the Reprolabel set, he was almost perfect. There's also Skids who is stellar and pretty much a "MP".

There were other completely original ones that too were awesome. Like Jaguar Ravage and Rodimus. Plus the fact that you got a COMPLETE car interior and many cars were clean even on the underside! This make Alternators/Binaltech a pretty damn solid line overall.

When Alternator failed, it failed hard. But when it succeeded, it knocked it out of the park. Ultimately the true fault of the line was that it could only be in scale with itself or MP-01.

Black Hat, you can blame model car collectors for that; 1:24 is the dominant scale there.
The Alternators/BT toys are in scale with certain MPs: MP-01/04, MP-02, and MP-05. And I'm pretty sure their existence is what delayed getting actual MPs of the Autobot Cars. They also colored the development of CHUG for a while, most notably the Universe Sideswipe and Prowl molds, and probably Tracks too.

Well see, that's what I was getting at. Takara didn't bother making actual Masterpieces of the Autobot cars up until MP-10 rebooted the Masterpiece line, because prior to that the Alternators/BT toys were expected to fill that role and treated as "good enough".

Oh, the good figures are quite good, don't get me wrong. Although, Roddy is a retool of the line's Mirage.

Also MP-05, because that was in scale with MP-01. But see, that's kind of a big fault. That and the fact that it influenced CHUG unduly and became Takara's excuse to not do actual MPs for the longest time... That's why part of me feels like it was a big waste in hindsight, even with as good as several figures were.

Oh, another fault with it, now that I remember what else tied into Alternator/BT: The higher-ups at Takara didn't bean Yuki Oshima on the head with one of the toys.

But what I REALLY want and I know for sure HasTak will never make is the other cassettes.
Frenzy would be eazy enough by just being Rumble's repaint.

Then they could make Lazerbeak and Buzzsaw. Because Alternators focus mostly on "normal" cars, a Pontiac Trans-Am could be perfect. Especially if there's the good old eagle logo on the hood! (Ah, childhood nostalgia!)



Then the cake would be Alternators Soundwave being a 1:24 MAN TGA car carrier. He'd transport the "cassettes" on his trailer and his trailer could transform into a weapon platform. Man, this could be AWESOME!



Also, bonus even if it's redundant, but Alternators Bumblebee as THE most popular classic Volkswagen Beetle would be nice too. I mean not the one used for the original MP but the car that have been the most produced for the longest time with the most units ever.

Yeah, well, Volkswagen was against having lowly "war toys" like Transformers made of their cars at the time, much like Porsche. Bumblebee was planned (although as a New Beetle b/c everything had to have modernized altmodes at the time ) but VW said "no".

Also, even if Alternators had continued that Soundwave would never have happened. For the same reason that Optimus got reduced to being a pickup.

Also, Optimus was NOT "reduced to being a pick-up". Rather, Ironhide(?)(as rumored) was fock'd out of his Alternators spot by having his mold stolen by Optimus because Optimus sell more because Takara demanded it.

Ah, I'd forgotten about that. Still, even if Optimus had had his own mold being made he probably would have been a pickup. See, I forgot to include something in that last post I meant to include "and that we never got any Combaticons other than Swindle".
That reason being size. I'm pretty sure that a car carrier truck would be considered too big, just like military vehicles were.

Well, according to the article, the specific reason Takara wanted it to be made into Optimus to help it sell better, was because the vehicle mode itself wasn't super appealing in Japan.

There were separate plans for Megatron. He had his own toy in the works, a Cadillac XLR, but then the line got shelved indefinitely in 2006.

A bit of a shame though. I loved that line despite the occasional stinker.

Also, Alternators was all about "normal" road vehicles, meaning cars, Jeeps, and pick-ups as the biggest. Making a genuine truck even more of a "never make" Transformers!

I imagine the rest of the combaticons could have been made, but they would have to be reimagined as standard road vehicles. This make the line more interesting to me because it force creativity.

Once the "pseudo budget MP" mentality of the current Generations lines blow over, I wonder if we will go back to classic CHUG and see some true original content?
