Why in some episodes of G1 season 2 can all the autobots shoot when in vehicle mode (no mattter what it is, be it a car or tank) and in the next they can't (or only the tanks and planes can)?

This may be down to the DVDs putting episodes in the wrong order.

In the episode where Hoist and Grapple build the Solar energy collector, all the autobots can shoot their weapons in vehicle mode (when they rescue Grapple and Hoist), but in the next episode (the one where they race for charity and get stuck in vehicle mode), they are completely helpless. Is this down to the writers forgetting what happens in the previous episode, or is the DVD in the wrong order? (as it is with several Combaticons episodes)

Not sure what DVD you're watching, because that's seriously out of order. The Combaticons errors is a result of the production numbers - they were genuinely *made* out of order, and the DVDs reflect that. But the race for charity episode, "The Autobot Run," is the SEVENTH episode of season 2, while Grapple and Hoist ep, "The Master Builders," is the SIXTEENTH.

It's G1. Continuity errors exist throughout, but Chris's info is really helpful!

Its season 2 DVD the one where theres a part 1 and part 2. Part 1 is in a silver box and it has 3 seperate DVD cases and part 2 is one book with 3 dvds.

It doesn't list them in the correct order you said they should be in.
