Paragraphs are your friends.
To be honest, a lot of the games released are similar, but that doesn't mean that there aren't good ones. Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., and Prey are just a few recent FPSes that simply OWN. Great story, atmosphere, engines, use of technology, great gameplay and multiplayer, etc. And mindless shooters can be good if done well.

If you think Gears of War is worse than Star Trek Legacy, son you might just be retarded. Legacy is the epitome of licensed crap. You say depth, I say SC3 Lite.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Random Battles in RPG's are VERY annoying. Every five steps, *whoosh*, it's a fight. And even if you can see the monster your gonna fight, it has to load up for the fight, which can be annoying. That is why I like Zelda and now I'm really, really beginning to appreciate FF XII. I took a couple breaks between playing the past month cause I wasn't in an RPG mood, but now I'm back, and really appreciating the game.

Once you get into it, Trek Legacy is pretty good, though a few more months in development would have done the game a lot of good. Gears of War is just the same old have gun, shoot, move forward, shoot style of game that's always hailed as the greatest thing ever, even though they're dull and pointless. Legacy, though in bad need of being remade, has at least some tactical gameplay and something that all the overhyped shooters don't have, an actual element of gameplay.
Aye, the game isn't as good as it could have been, but at least it's not the same old gun fest that keeps being loved. If Legacy had been fully developed with a ship editor/creator, scenarios and a conquest mode, it would have been a lot better.
And there's a movie licence game that is actually good and amazingly, it's from EA, the masters of rehashes and rubbish games that sell well. I got it this morning since I couldn't find any TiTF's in my area, all sold out as usual, so I thought I would risk trying a movie licence game and got The Godfather. Pretty good game, shame that other movie licence games are never as good.
Tony.

How about bosses that have like 15 hit points left and then boost and boost and quicken themselves and then unleash like a million point attack, leaving you with one party member and 11 hit points before they heal themselves and then boost again to utterly obliterate you, leaving you angry? There's no way to beat that really, save an opening round of thousands of points of damage against the boss.

Chrono Trigger is good because of this. They allow you to see the enemy, except in rare occasions, though they only show one guy, and a few more may appear. But you can walk or run around it, and you'd never have to fight.
You'd be screwed by the time the boos comes, but you'd win anyway.

In Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, you have to touch monsters on the overworld map before you have to battle them. That's always a good thing. If you don't want to battle, just dodge the enemies.

I've got some amendments
10. Great looking intros and cut scenes for games with P!$$ poor graphics and game play.
9. Planing on doing Video games trilogies or more and canceling them after the 1st or second game.

Yes that's true, but like I said, it still has to load up the battle system, which switches to a totally different screen. I like Zelda's, and FF XII because they DON'T have a separate battle screen. The monsters are on the screen, you target them, you draw your weapons, you fight, you move on, no separate battle screen present. It makes leveling up so much less tedious in my opinion.

They don't do that in Chrono Trigger, either. Battles take place right where you stand.

Completing them.
Good one.
I remember when I finally beat Zelda TP after a whole month.
At first I was glad but then I felt "****, what the heck am I supposed to do now".
Also, I know it's essential to RPGS and whatnot, but I kinda hate leveling up.
I don't mind adding new weapons and abilities, but leveling sucks due to the fact that it takes forever to get to a competant level. i mean I want to beat this boss NOW, not 3 or 4 hours from now.
plus if you get really far in a game without doing it, your screwed.
I actually like leveling up in Megaman BN 3-5(Haven't played 6 yet) because the Navi Customizer is challenging(in a good way) and some of the stronger battle chips have the eye candy appeal. It sucked in the first two games because the Power Ups got more and more expensive.

That does get annoying, sometimes. Just use some flashy moves to kill 'em and reap the kickin' rewards.

Hmm, probably cause I played the Playstation re-release is cause I'm remembering loading up battles, plus I've only beaten the game once. I should play it again sometime.

I hate unskipable cut scenes that last forever, useless A.I. and not being able to turn the in game music off without turning off the sound effects and vocals (sometimes I like to play my own CD's as the background music.)

1. SNK Boss Syndrome -- if SNK's hellbent on making ultra-broken bosses, they should had given them God Mode instead.
2. Playing vs Grasshopper on Twisted Metal 2
3. Pointlessly wasting all your lives by just falling down on the New York and Antarctica levels on Twisted Metal 2, even when you have God Mode activated
4. F***ing Final Fantasy Fanboys (4F), specifically the ones who worship FFVII
5. Nemesis from RE3: Nemesis. He's the creepiest stalker in the history of video gaming!
6. Hunting for Warmech on FFI
7. Hunting for Iron Golem in FFI
8. Fake walls in FFII-J
9. Cut stuff that turned out to be good. Here's a sample: Thumper's live-action ending from Twisted Metal 1 that didn't make it in the actual game.
10. Condescending players, teammate or from enemy camp.

Yeah, you can learn how to survive random battles with this helpful documentary.
I also hate random battles. They make going anywhere in Final Fantasy take 10 times longer.

Not sure if it's been listed already, but...
Fighting game A.I.+ constant blocking. I swear, you throw a punch, they block it almost automatically. It's so irritating! Blocking is O.K. in moderation, but this is just too much. I was playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 yesterday, and the dang stupid computer kept blocking just about every single punch I threw. Is it just me(and it probably is), or is SFA III PS1 version really hard?

Things that are unfortunatly found in games:
1.Super hard bosses -not always fun, espcially when you get VERY close to defeating them and they take you out with one lucky strike, after it took you a nerve racking half hour of constant button-mashing
2.Infrequent save points
3.Respawning monsters- just when you thought you killed them all!!!
4.Idiotic A.I in game enemies
5.Game freezes and locks up, forcing you to start all over again.
6.Games that have good gameplay and story-lines you wish were longer then the length they were made
7.Parts in games where trying to complete them is an ordeal-Indiana Jones:The Emperor's Tomb, where you have to whip-jump over a series of pits with arches over them and von Beck's chasing in that stupid machine-tank. Turok: Evolution, Just about ALL the flying levels

What the hell, I'll give it a shot. (in no order)
10 - Finisher Reversals in Smackdown Vs Raw 07 ('07)
9 - Now loading...
8 - Blue Turtle Shells
7 - Useless AI (Transformers, '07)
6 - Playing Golden eye on one hit kills and you die when touch the smoke from the rocket
5 - For that matter, proxy mines
4 - Those blind jerks from RE4. Phak them.
3 - Button Mashers and Wavers
2 - The sewers in the original TMNT for NES
1 - Fighting Kid Buu in DBZ 2.
EDIT: I would also like to add the stratagy guide for FF9. "Want to know how to get this rare item!?!? Go to PlayOnline.com now!" I didn't pay $25 for a book to tell me I should have downloaded the f'n walkthrough instead. I can come to that conclusion on my own. Also, the game play in FF12 gets an honorable mention. Ooooo I had better level up or I won't be able to wear pants. Pffft, screw that.

What's wrong with Minigames?

They're always good, unless there's too many of them.
As for the constant blocking in fighting games: I was playing Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. It normally take about a half a second to block, where you're left defenseless. The enemy AI doesn't have this. They can block instantly.
Et tu, Midway?

No, no, sorry. I should have clarified that I was talking about the G1 game that was a Japanese exclusive. I love the game (lots of others don't) but if you want a chance in hell playing that game you pretty much have to use Convoy/Rodimus or Megatron/Galvatron because of their spin kicks and special attacks.

There was a Game for Zoids on the Gamecube. That game has earned my Eternal Scorn.
1. The weapons don't adjust. Meaning, if you're running, the cannon on your back will be bobbing up and down. You have to stand still to make a shot, unless you've got really good timing.
2. While the cutscenes featured dialogue boxes, in battles, characters would shout idiotic, 4Kids style one-liners. They couldn't add full voice acting, but they could add stupid one liners that are repeated every time I hit something?

I didn't pay $25 for a book to tell me I should have downloaded the f'n walkthrough instead. I can come to that conclusion on my own. Also, the game play in FF12 gets an honorable mention. Ooooo I had better level up or I won't be able to wear pants. Pffft, screw that.
I like FFXII Get some Golden amulets and liscense points are simple. My problem with the Original NES TMNT was Shredder one shot and your a turtle, No Continues or passwords. BS my friends.
