I don't know much about that character other than a few appearances I vaguely remember from the original Super Friends cartoons.sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:Saber Prime wrote:Dinobot = Need a villain gone hero then killed, resurected evil, gone good again and killed again. Can you think of anyone?
Depending on what continuity your following from the DC universe Solomom Grundy kind of fits that roll.
Saber Prime wrote:If you don't know, I looked this up on DC comics web site and Wiki. Hal Jordan started as the Hero Green Lanturn (BW Silverbolt) then later became the villain known as Paralax (BM Jetstorm) then died and is now the second Specter (BM Silverbolt). That's why he fits so perfectly into that role..

He's appeared recently as Green Lanturn in both Justice League (Guess appearance briefly in place of John) and TheBatman but as far as I can tell his comic book incarnation is still Specter. I've found nothing to say he ever went back to being Green Lanturn after he was the Specter.sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:Saber Prime wrote:If you don't know, I looked this up on DC comics web site and Wiki. Your information is out of date........Hal Jordan hasnt been the Specter for about 2 years now.....he a Green Lantern again.

This time your information is wrong.Hal Jordan was not the original Green Lantern.........Alan Scott was.He is what is called the "Goldenage Green Lantern"
Hal Jordan was the 2nd Green Lantern also called the "Silverage Green Lantern"
If your getting your info from DC's website then someone must tell them to update their site.

The words I would use to describe Silverbolt would be honest and honerable.
Words used to discribe Hal Jordan over the years would include.....
Raciest........... showen in comics from the 70's altho he has growen out of it since then
Drunk Driver...... he had a DWI conviction
Pediphile......... He had a relation ship with a underage alien girl that was also a Grean Lantern.
To me it just doesnt sound like BW Silverbolt.

Unfortunatly they update their site far too often. I prefered their set up from like 6 years ago. Ever sence then it's just been getting worse and worse to look at.
About a year ago I think it was they had a list in order of every Green Lanturn and their different weaknesses. Hal seemed to be the only one who had the weakness to yellow. One of them was weak ageanst wood. I think that's kinda funny about them. Green Lanturns have so much power to do preddy much anything but they have the stupidest weaknesses to common things like the color yellow and wood.![]()
I belive one Green Lanturn listed was allso so powerfull that he never even needed to recharge his ring.
I might still be able to find it on Wiki. DC no longer has all Green Lanturns listed. (This was all the Human Green Lanturns BTW not a complete list from every sector of the galaxy.)

That to me doesn't even sound like Hal Jordan. It's allso contridicting. How can a Green Lanturn be racist? Every single other Green Lanturn is of a different race. He allso could not have been given the Green Lanturn's ring if he had any of thoughs traits.
Hell I even had trouble beliving he was Paralax because it completly ageanst everything the Green Lanturns stand for.
Ugh, can't think straight tonight. I only had one drink.

Wether you have good thoughts or not has nothing to do with being a GL.The only prerecquist is that your wilpower is strong and that you can overcome great fear.
Maybe "Racist" was to stronge a word.
Now I'm not saying he was the kind of racist that would join the KKK but he was showen to be a bit of a bigot.Choseing a whites sides in a fight between a landloard and a renter with out first finding out what was going on, voiceing protest when the Guardians chose to give a ring to John Steward for no reason [and the Guardian said he was being predijust] [spelling?], being upset when John dated a white woman, there are a lot of exsamples I could post but I would be here all night.
Green Lantern (sometimes called the Green Lantern in the early days) was created by Martin Nodell (using the name Mart Dellon) and Bill Finger. He first appeared in the Golden Age of comic books in All-American Comics #16 (July 1940), published by All-American Publications, one of three companies that would eventually merge to form DC Comics. The collector market for original copies of this issue is strong, with a sale in October 2007 selling on an online vintage comic trading site, ComicConnect.com, for $29,250.[1] This Green Lantern was Alan Scott, an engineer who had come into possession of a magic lantern. From this, he crafted a magic ring which gave him a wide variety of powers. The limitations of the ring were that it had to be "charged" every 24 hours by touching it to the lantern for a time, and that it did not work on wood.
Nodell had originally planned to give Green Lantern the alter ego "Alan Ladd," this being a linguistic twist on Aladdin, who had a magic lamp and magic ring of his own. DC considered the wordplay distracting and foolish, and the character's name was changed before publication to "Alan Scott." In May 1942, the film This Gun for Hire suddenly made the journeyman actor of the same name a movie star. Nodell would always joke that they'd missed a great opportunity.[2]
The next Green Lantern to see publication was Harold "Hal" Jordan, a second-generation test pilot, having followed in the footsteps of his father, Martin Jordan. He was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur, whose spaceship crashed on Earth. Abin Sur used his ring to seek out an individual who was "utterly honest and born without fear" to take his place as Green Lantern.
Green Lantern oath
Green Lantern is famous for the oath he recites when he charges his ring. Originally, the oath was simple:
“ ...and I shall shed my light over dark evil.
For the dark things cannot stand the light,
The light of the Green Lantern!
”
—Alan Scott
(This oath was later given as an in-joke to Tomar-Re, Green Lantern of sector 2813, and the first Lantern Hal Jordan met after Abin Sur.)
This is a nice example of how people can get the wrong information. In the mid-1940s, this was revised into the form that became famous during the Hal Jordan era:
“ In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!
”
—Hal Jordan/All Current Lanterns
The word "blackest" was often replaced with "darkest" to avoid racist connotations. The above is the most popular version of Green Lantern's oath. Science fiction writer Alfred Bester, who wrote many Green Lantern stories in the 1940s, has been credited as the creator of this oath. However, in an interview with journalist F. Gwynplaine MacIntyre at the 1979 World Science Fiction Convention in Brighton, England, Bester stated that the brightest-day oath was already in place before he began writing for the character.
It had been established in the past that each Green Lantern has his, her, or its own oath. For example, Medphyl, the Green Lantern of the planet J586 (seen in Swamp Thing # 61, "All Flesh is Grass"), a planet where a sentient plant species lives, has the following oath:
In forest dark or glade beferned
No blade of grass shall go unturned
Let those who have the daylight spurned
Tread not where this green lamp has burned.
Other notable oaths include that of Jack T. Chance:
You who are wicked, evil and mean
I'm the nastiest creep you've ever seen!
Come one, come all, put up a fight
I'll pound your butts with Green Lantern's light!
Yowza.
and that of Rot Lop Fan, a Green Lantern whose species lacks sight, and thus has no concepts of brightness, darkness, day, night, color, or lanterns:
In loudest din or hush profound
My ears catch evil's slightest sound
Let those who toll out evil's knell
Beware my power, the F-Sharp Bell!
Since Green Lantern: Rebirth and the restart of the Green Lantern Corps, the only oath used has been the Brightest Day, Blackest Night version.
[edit] Duck Dodgers' oath
In the animated TV series Duck Dodgers, Duck Dodgers temporarily becomes a Green Lantern after accidentally picking up Hal Jordan's laundry. In the first part of the episode, he forgets the real quote and makes up his own version:
In blackest day or brightest night
Watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda yadda
Erm...superstitious and cowardly lot
With liberty and justice for all!
(In-joke: "watermelon" and "cantaloupe" are words traditionally muttered repeatedly by extras in crowd scenes to simulate actual conversation, and "superstitious and cowardly lot" were the words associated with Bruce Wayne's realization of why he needed to use the image of a bat as a means to scare criminals.)
Saber Prime wrote:
Huh? How could John and Hal even know eachother? Kyle Rayner was the Green Lanturn before John and after Hal. Pluse each sector only has one Green Lanturn at a time. Hal would have been long gone by the time John came in. And that still doesn't even make sence even if Hal and John did know eachother. The Guardians and even Abin Sir who Hal saved are of different races. Abin Sir allmost looks human except for skin color. How or why would Hal save his life if he was a racist.
There could be any number of reasons for Hal not wanting John to be a Green Lanturn or date a woman that have nothing to do with his being black. Mabe Hal was in love with that woman. I wouldn't want some guy dateing a woman I was in love with, I don't care what color they are.

Saber Prime wrote:I had forgotten about Alen Scott so I descided to look him up. Hal Jordan could still be considered the first Green Lanturn though for two reasons.
1. Alen Scott's costume seems to be mostly red. Who's idea was it to name a character GREEN lantern and give him a RED costume?
2. Alen's bio seems to have no real conection to the Green Lantern Corps.Green Lantern (sometimes called the Green Lantern in the early days) was created by Martin Nodell (using the name Mart Dellon) and Bill Finger. He did carrey the name first but he never seemed to actully be a member of the Green Lantern Corps. Hal was the first human to actully join them.
-=edit=-
Wait just read further down on the page. His story was rewrighten to link him with the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians but that was only after Hal Jordan had allready been introduced.
Hal is still the first Human to join the Green Lantern Corps. Alen joined later as an honorary member and carried the name before Hal. Either one could be considered to be the first Green Lantern in some form or another.
Oh and here's how Hal got his ring...The next Green Lantern to see publication was Harold "Hal" Jordan, a second-generation test pilot, having followed in the footsteps of his father, Martin Jordan. Speaking of wrong information. In "Forever Plaid" I didn't even get credited in the program for working the show and now in "Plaid Tidings" which just opened yesterday I'm credited as a Spot Light Operator. Kinda funny considering I can't see to operate a spot light, never worked one and never will. I'm back stage crew.It had been established in the past that each Green Lantern has his, her, or its own oath. For example, Medphyl, the Green Lantern of the planet J586 (seen in Swamp Thing # 61, "All Flesh is Grass"), a planet where a sentient plant species lives, has the following oath:

Now I've been an extra before and I never said anything about Watermelon and Cantaloupe. I did say some other things though like...
"Lets pretend to talk to eachother before we have to get up and I say my only lines in this entire freaking show."
"No I'm not horney, there really is a bannana in my pocket. You want a bite?"
"Why am I here with you? Last time I was on stage I was with another girl and you were a model. Did I dump her before we came here?"
And my personal favorite...
"The audience is sitting like right next to us, you think they can hear all the random crap we're whispering to eachother?"

All jokes arent ment to be funny..........just like the joke on beast wars about dicast being a lost art wasnt really funny.....or like the joke from one of the Batman movies, I dont know if you were a fan of them but in Batman forever when Dick is insisting that he become Batmans partner he starts saying to Bruce" what should I call myself....Batboy ,Nightwing what do you think?"..... thats an exsample of an inside joke.

All jokes are funny otherwise it's not a joke. Inside jokes are just things that only a sertain group of people would understand, like me saying "Pie is People", it's not funny unless you get that it's a "Sweeney Todd" refrence to the plot where they bake people into pies.
Nightwing is funny if you really know Dick Greyson because he sugested it as a name and he actully does use that name after he get's out of Batman's shadow.
A Green Lantern useing an old oath from a completly different Green Lantern is not funny. Even if I was a fan of the comics and was alive to follow all the Lanturn's storys I would either not even notice the quote changed (at least not right away) or still wouldn't get the "joke" that he's useing another Green Lanturn's oath.
That's like one Transformer like Energon Shock Blast looking like G1 Shockwave. It's not really a joke, just a HOMAGE!
I finally thought of it right after I posted.
