Okay, about a month and a half ago I was terminated from my employment. Shortly after that, I went in to file for unemployment at the Department of Labor, while I could search for a new job. Originally, it was stated that I should recieve an answer with 16 days. After 16 days went by, I called the number they gave me as per their instructions if I hadn't recieved anything yet. They had yet to review my case, and then backpeddled and said that is should be 16 business days. Bullcrap, on the paper they gave me is plainly "If you have not received your written decision or a telephone call from a claims examiner by the 16th day from the date your claim was filed, please call immediately. So, yet another week later, I called again. My claim was going to be reviewed on Friday, this was monday. After much cursing after hanging up, I waiting patiently until Friday and waited until after lunch to call. No sooner was I going to do this, then a freak storm passed through town and took down power for the entire part of my town for 12 hours. Turns out, they did call, and I had until the 24th to call back to add anything to my claim before they reach a decision. I called monday the 23rd, but my claims rep was now on vacation until the 30th. WTF? I left a message, being assured that I would recieve a call from someone who was taking over her caseload. No call. I called again the next day, left a message for the supervisor...no call. I called again after lunch, after about 3 transfers, i recieved another supervisor who took my comments and went on her merry way. I'm supposed to receive word sometime today, but this is completely incompetent. And this is the same broke down system people want in charge of their heathcare needs? Rest assured, I wouldn't even be going through this trouble if I didn't need it, and I'm certainly not going to depend on it.
