Update on Amazon's problems with TRANSFORMERS score CD

We won't stop demanding TRANSFORMERS: THE SCORE ...

Props to Mike Halverson for the great quote

Here's the latest that we've been able to come up with (am posting this here before I even do it as an update on my blog, can ya tell that I love you guys :) ).

Am still trying to get hold of someone at Warner Records about this, especially the Canadian distribution problem. It may take another day or so before I can come back with something definitive on that though, but will keep working on it.

Now about the orders placed through Amazon.com: a source has said that "It's almost impossible!" right now to get Transformers: The Score shipped immediately from them because Amazon is running extremely low on stock. It is now being considered a "top priority" by Amazon to get more CDs sent to their warehouse (and Amazon is asking for "thousands!"). Unfortunately this means that anyone now ordering from Amazon will probably have to wait 1-3 weeks before their CD arrives!

Clearly, the demand for this was very unexpected. By everyone.

I am still looking for a couple of copies in the stores too, and went all over Greensboro (the biggest town around here) today and it's nowhere to be found. A dude in High Point has said he went looking for it to, but to no avail. Have also heard that Burlington is a complete bust.

Nothing much else to say at this point except...

"Transform and roll out... them CDs!!!"

Once again they failed to recognize the power of the Transformers Fandom.
It's sad that they didn't expect there to be such an apparently overwhelming demand for this score and thus there doesn't seem to be enough to go around. I searched high and low and FINALLY came across a Borders which said they had one left and I was able to have them hold it for me. I picked it up about 3 hours ago. And yes sadly I did not see another copy in the store. So when will they begin to Understand the forces that are the Transformers Fandom?

I'm not at all surprised that Warner Music has underestimated the desire for this CD.

Hasbro underestimated sales of toys, Warner underestimated sales of Score CD... theres a pattern here...

The way sales have been going, I'm sure the 2-disc complete score is no longer in the "maybe" category for Warner Records.

It's funny. My mom gave me the "See! You shouldn't have preordered that CD! Now you'll have to wait even longer, when you could just go to the store and get two copies!" speech.

At said store, I managed to nab the last copy.

Just posted on my blog - and I'm absolutely serious about this - that I'm not going to listen to Transformers: The Score any longer. Not until I've been able to purchase 2 CDs of the score at a regular retail outlet.

It's just not fair to be able to enjoy this when most people can't find it anywhere.

Y'all have my solemn vow: if y'all can't listen to it, then I can't listen to it either.

So let's pray that more CDs start arriving STAT!!!

In general, studios and stores just suck when it comes to scores (Sony in particular). I remember the Batman Begins and Superman Returns OSTs were hard to find in my area (and even today some big chains still never carry it!). They either underproduce, have delays, or don't even make one or a complete score at all (coughSonyagaincough).

I checked multiple Best Buys, Circuit City, B&N's, Borders, etc. All but one actually had it (one Borders had it listed as in store but never actually had it and it has since been changed). Heck the manager at the local Best Buy said they never even ordered it for their inventory (of course, they were also dumb enough to order only 4 copies of Halo 3).

I used to work at a Best Buy. It's amazing what can be back in the storeroom that they sometimes don't even know is there.

It's also amazing what will sometimes be brought out on the floor that's not supposed to be there. I wound up buying the DVD of Star Wars Episode I a week before the street date, 'cuz someone put a bunch of copies in a cart and brought them out. I got it, brought it to the register, paid for it and brought it home.

The next day I was asked if I'd bought that and I said yeah. The manager said it wasn't my fault but "please don't watch it until next Tuesday when it was supposed to go on sale."

Of course I watched it about 3 or 4 times over the next few days

You may get lucky with the score CD. I just checked all the Best Buys around here and they don't have it though.

Last night I also checked both Wal-Marts that are in easy driving distance of where we live. Neither had the Transformers score... but both of them did have ample copies of the soundtrack to Ken Burns's documentary The War.

Meanwhile, my fast from the Transformers score continues

Here's what is says on my Amazon order status now:

"Shipment #1: Shipping Soon We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed."

I couldn't find any explanation for this in the help section so I just called them. Customer Service told me this means it will be shipped in 1-2 business days.

so i called best buy, got the "music/games/software person" and asked if they had the TF score. she was like "wah-?" so i said, it was the music to the movie. so she said "you mean the soundtrack." noooooo i said, it's LIKE the soundtrack, but different. then she said "we only have the soundtrack" before even attempting to look, and hung up :BOOM:

i'm going in person tomorrow

Weapon: Plasma Beam Rifle
Regardless, I got mine from Best Buy yesterday. Oh man is this a good Score. So much of it got knocked to the background because of all the explosions so it's nice to hear them in their entirety.

I just got the email from Amazon that mine has shipped. It still has an estimated delivery date of Oct 19-22, though I've always received my stuff before their estimate.

In 45 minutes, we begin the eBay auction for the copy of Transformers: The Score signed by Steve Jablonsky.

100% of the proceeds will be going to help with music education projects in Rockingham County (North Carolina) schools.

Have gone nearly blind since last night getting this thing ready, but it's finally coming

Give us the link when it's up, we'll front page it.

As for distribution problems from Amazon... nothing on my end yet. I preordered my copy, and it shipped last week, just haven't got it yet. Being Canadian, I could only pre-order it from Amazon.COM - which is actually cheaper than ordering it import via Amazon.CA - since the Canadian Amazon doesn't respect our high dollar.
