Ahhh.. back to the Seekers.

I wonder how many Seekers were/are in Megatron's Decepticon forces? Somewhere I have heard they comprise half of the Decepticon Military, but I could be wrong.

I thought Phoenix was a fan character, and that she was female? Or at least she is female, but a canon character? :???:

The Seekers are so beautiful! I love the manly ones :x

Um...coming from a girl...

Sorry, but what? Just because I am a girl, it dosnt mean I need to like a female charicter. Arcee just annoys me, I find her too much like a last minute addition to the cast. It is good that they have fembots for girls to relate to I guess, but at the time I watched it rather than thinking, "Oh a girl, now I can relate" I was busy thinking, "Why is the only girl baby pink and silly" Or something to that effect, it was a long time ago...
Now looking back, I still think it was an odd choise to add only one girl in the movie, it makes her kind of unique, but in a sort of bad way....

Well you find her annoying I find her interesting as a character. Compare her to the other female characters around at the time I would rather have her over say Maxi, which was a show in the 80s around the time of the transformers. I don't think she was a last minute addition to the cast, I think they seriously figured it was time for some cool females. Silly? Arcee was never silly. Now Spike "Hey lets go get captured three times on Dinobot Island" Witwicky, he could be more of a girl then Carly. There were females prior to her too. Elita-1, Moonracer, Firestar, Chromia. They were all not wearing pink, Elita was pink, yes, but Moonracer was like a sea blue, Cromia was a dark blue, Firestar was red, there was a green one, and a Orange one too. The reason they made Arcee pink was that they were going to have her as Hot Rods girlfriend later on, and were going to compare it to the Elita/Prime relationship.

Look I never intended to say that your opinon on Arcee is wrong, I just disagree that she's a silly female. Really if you look at the 80s shows there's a limited female collection, and most are the silly type you're talking about. There's only a few that are female and were actually part of the main cast. That was the good thing about Arcee. As much as I loved the Autobots, I liked the idea of a female warrior that could sharp shoot better then them. And like I said, she led the way for BA and Airrazor, two of the most hard core characters on the Beast wars show.

Zombie, I think that they made up most of the first season's core cast, and it would make sense that there were a large number of them since they are the group that can fly. Hummm...We know of the main cast of them, too bad we didn't hear about the non spoken ones.

*gives Whiner-tron a hug*

Question, does Terrorsaur, Waspinator, and Airrazor count as seekers? I know that Airrazor and Terror both had similar headsculpts to the older seekers in that they were very arrow dynamic.

Yeah, sorry about that post Night Striker, I was kinda tired, so it sounded rather less rational than I ment it too. I still dont like her though. Spike was just increadably useless, most of the humans were really, but thats what made it more fun no?

From what I can remember of Beast Wars (I did not see all of it, I should catch up) Airrazor was pretty cool, as was Black Arachnia in Beast Machines I think, but she was kinda goth... As for no other 80s females, you know who was cool? Cheetara :P

Zombie Starscream, I have seen pics of a green female seeker, I think shes a fan charicter, and not canon, but I aint sure.

^_^ No harm done. *hugs Tangent* I can understand, Sorry if I came off as sore myself. Damolisher's post got to me.

Anyway, it's cool. I can like her and you can not like her, but we both agree that TFs rock no matter what. *grins*

BA, a goth, huh. Never really thought of her as that. I know in the Japanese series they totally made her like Thunderblast. *shudders* Or at least close to it. Airrazor was one of my favorites, and the fact that she punched BA in the end of season one and ripped Terrorsaur apart. She totally won me over. Cheetara was one of few good things about Thundercats. *laughs* I saw an old episode recently and was shuddering through it. The dialoge was so badly done, no wonder Transformers hold up so much better, it's smoother even with it's glitches. Heck Thundercats had them talking in space with no helmats on at all.

Humm, I know I saw that one on Deviant art. There are a ton of female seekers from Fans. Thing is, sadly, a lot get turned into Marysues and Garystus. =_= Shouldn't there be a rule that says, "I will not follow in Starscreams footsteps. Or if I do I will get my skidplate handed to me by Megatron." ? :P

I wonder what differantiates a "Mary Sue" Seeker from a regular Seeker? I would love to find out... I like to write, and I don't want to create such a creature in a fanfic.

Man, I agree with everything you just said.

It's been a while since I saw BA in BM (I likes to shorten words) but she often seemed quite depressed, maybe it was because of her alt mode? :P I try to stay away from Japanese takes on such things, far, far away.

When I watch old shows I used to love, they usally have me either crying or laughing, except for Transformers, although, it does have the ocasional moments...

And man do I hate Marysues, and Starscream fangirls scare me so much. Starscream is no rolemodel...I'm working on a fem seeker charicter, kinda, but there will be NO marysueing!

Well I created a list for my *coughs* Yugioh characters to follow, I know it by heart, so I think I can easily convert it. There are two version of it though. A question one, and one that's like a list.

1. You have a mary sue when your seekers name is Starscreamer and he's exactly like Starscream except super powered and can take on Megatron.

Something like that. *laughs*

Seekers eh? :-?

Does anyone else think MP-03 colourscheme reminds them of those generic seekers in the opening pilot? For example the guy who shot at Sunstreaker and was shot in the wing in return. Not Thundercracker, the other one. Yes, I know the vent thingies are white, not red, but I said remind them.

The one on fire.

They even have the same colour wing markings.

Wow, he really does look like him, right down to the markings! Coincidence? I think not!

But seriusly, why did they make him so dark? I prefer the G1 colours so much more. I guess it dont matter, as I cannot afford either...

I saw a TF mary sue litimus test somewhere on the internets.

But a stereotypical seeker sue might be something like this.

Seeker Sue upstages all the characters, is usually (romantically) connected to some manner to screamer or megs. She's had a troubled past (created to be an interface slave anyone!?) All the 'cons want/love her save for screamer who is jealous/wants her but wont admit his undying love for Seeker Sue. The 'bots want her to change sides/fall in love with her. May or may not be connected to nightbird or part of an equally sueish gestalt.

More to come when I decide to do some lurking on ff.net

:D Glad to hear we worked this out. No shows made me cry very much, I think the only few that really did that was probably Danny Phantom. Transformers always made me get really energetic.

Some things I thought of regarding a marysue for a Seeker.

1. Is like Thunderblast in many ways.

2. Is the focus of the story no matter what.

3. Was, is, Megatron's girlfriend, former girlfriend, love interest.

4. Was is Starscreams girlfriend, former girl friend, love interest without giving a backstory to it that makes sense.

5. Has major skills as a fighter.

6. Has some sort of unnatural powers.

7. Can pwn every autobot and Decepticon she or he takes on.

8. Wants to confirm Starscream or any other Decpeticon to the good side.

9. Turns Human, or can turn human.

10. Knows more about the Decpeticons then Megatron does.

11. Saves everyone repeatedly.

12. Megatron goes to her for advice. A lot.

13. Everyone talks about her.

14. Autobots fall for her and she for them.

*thinks* I'm sure there's a lot more.

Danny Phantom could make anyone cry...

But that list seems right, and is funny too. But you forgot to add...

No other chariciter in the story but the Marysue, Starscream and Megs have more than one line, if they are included at all.

Not only are they an ace fighter, they are also the best scientist, inventer, weapons expert, driver, the fastest, prettest, ect.

Often is cold hearted and hates everything, cares about absolutly nothing, except for Starscream.

Then theres ones which love everything ever, would never hurt a fly, especially love Starscream and have absolutly no logical reason for being a decepticon.

Oh, and last but not least that said fanfic reads like a two year old wrote it.

If it sounds like someone young wrote it, someone young probably did write it. As a fellow author I'm not ashamed to admit that I created a few Marysue type characters in my youth. I feel as if it is an important part in creative development, it certainly was in mine. When you go back over a piece after writing a character like that, especially when you've gotten a little more mature, you come to realize what a horrible mistake it was. That's why I try to be tolerant with authors who make their original characters a little too perfect, and try to help them along if it's appropriate for me to do so.

Yay I'm back in the thread, didja miss me?

I hate these Marysue type characters (even though I never heard of them before this thread). I much prefer the darker guys, those with inner torment from situations beyond their control, those that know they are not the best, know they have failings, but try to push on regardless, even if they might die. And if someone in my fanfics bites off more than they can chew, they will die, even if it's a main character.

I missed you!! I understand about young writers making lots of mistakes, my friend used to write fanfic and loves reading it, and it was just awful. Now me, I have always known that I cant write, thats why I never have. As such I cannot really offer much help to new writers. I do draw, but I still need to practice so much...

Mary Sue is the female version of this type of fanfic character, and this is the most usual varient. The other more rarer version is known as the Gary Stu. I think Prime might be a Gary Stu, as he seems to have a lot of the listed symptoms but is not a Seeker.
