I see. Thats all well and good, but what I was looking for is something more along the lines of a squadron. I really wish Jetfire had command of a team of Autobot jets

Arial bots would be the next best bet. The reason why there's not a squadren of them is due to the fact that the Autobots were desginated by the second season to stay on the ground. That's why the Con's built the Stunticons and the Bots built the Arialbots. It was all so they could deal with their weaknesses against the other side.

Jetfire's mode is Cybertronian, as I don't think he scanned anything. I'd really have liked to see more about their relationship. Starscream must have felt very seriously betrayed when Jetfire chose to be an Autobot. I think in someway Starscream wanted to look like an hero in Jetfire's optics, probably becuase Jetfire was one of the few that took him seriously and knew that he was actually intellegent.

Hey, thats deep! And makes alot of sence. When hes explaining to Megs about how they knew each other and how they crashed its like, the only time you actually see him looking *vaguely* upset about someone else. And then to lose his old friend so soon afterwards, must be fairly demoralising.(if thats the right word)

Also, isnt whatshisface, the boss Arialbot, scared of hieghts? Or does my memory fail me?

Silverbolt, he's voiced by Charlie Addler who did Starscream in the movie. And yes he's terrified of heights and doesn't have a lot of confidence in himself, that's why Prime put him in charge of the other bots.

And you're right it probably was demoralizing to Starscream. From what he was saying, and what you saw, I think Jetfire was Starscreams best friend and suddenly he lost that last link to the past. I mean the fact that he found him at all must have been so great for him because he knew then that Jetfire wasn't dead. And you could see how he was really happy for the first time on the show. I mean genuinely happy, not smirking, when he smiled at Skyfire. It was like. Whoa, that's probably the Starscream prior to joining the Cons. (If in fact he did join them becuase I still wonder if the Robosmasher may have altered his personality to want to join the cons.)

Rewatching Fire in the Sky, Starscream looks shocked when he sees Skyfire at first. His mouth is even hung open. When he's being rejuvinated the other cons seem to think it's pretty much useless but Starscream's just totally insistant, something I don't think he's ever been about anything save taking over the Decepticons. Then when Skyfire/jetfire wakes up you can see Starscream wants to talk to him but Megatron pushes him aside and takes control, much to Starscreams discontent. What's worse is that he winds up having to realize that he and Sky/Jet have become two very different robots since the crash.

I sometimes wonder had Starscream found Jet/Sky would he have still joined with the Decepticons?

Thats an interesting point, I think he might not of joined the cons you know, I mean sure he's an arrogant jerk, but we know that he is also smart and reasonable rational. If they where still friends perhaps Jet/Skyfire would have been able to talk him out of it, like, talk some sence into him maybe?

Jetfire and Starscream used to be best friends.

They share similar alt modes.

From what i can deduce, Jetfire is an F-14 Tomcat, Starscream is an F-15 Eagle. Quite similar profile.

I just don't know why Jetfire is a giant compared to Starscream. In realistic scale, they should be about equal. With Jetfire slightly shorter, due to the way it transform.

Anyway, there's your Autobot by the moonlight!

Isnt Jetfire still in cybertronian form? Either way I love Jetfire too, because he's so tall :P

If you're talking about G1 Jetfire, the white and red thing, he's definitely Earth form. F-14 jetfighter is an earthling jet.

You must be thinking of the Arielbot Fireflight. He had the same color scheme as Jetfire. However Jetfire's alternate mode isn't an Earth vehicle, and it's only a Cybertronian alt in the canon fiction. His toy mold was a Macross Valkyrie fighter jet, Takara having acquired it from a toy company that went out of business.

Charlie Addler did the voice of Starscream in the new movie.
In G1 He provided Silver Bolt.

And the whole issue of the Valkerye fighter jet is one of the reasons why they wern't allowed to ever show Jetfire in half transformation. Which rather sucked.

*hugs Tangent* Heh, this would make a great plot for a story regarding the what ifs. Reasonable yes, I wonder if they reconned his whole issue about being okay with blowing up the earth in Season two, becuase in Season one Starscream was more willing to blow it up. But by Season two he was the most vocal against it being destoyed. Namely becuase he was worried about being hurt. I love the fact that in season two they gave him moments to show that he really was a scientest under that scheming mind. The whole way he made Gunpowder in A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court was brilliant. And I think that, given time, Skyfire probably could have. *plot bunnies hop about*

Fireflight isn't an F-14 Tomcat. He's an F-4 Phantom, a Vietnam War era jet. As others have mentioned, Jetfire (toy) was a redecoed Veritech fighter, licensed from Bandai. Unfortunately, Harmony Gold had the license for the design for animation purposes, reulting in a lawsuit preventing Sunbow from usinf that design in the cartoon. Thus, the Jetfire design had to be changed for the cartoon, and they changed his name to "Skyfire". This is also why he only appears in a few episodes.

I'm talking about Jetfire of G1. The Macross Valkyrie twin. Macross Valkerie is exactly F-14 Tomcat jetfighter. I don't think Valkyrie can have any semblance to Cybertronian mode.

The tv episodes just made him a bit more boxy. But still basically an F-14 with corners.

Actually, Auto Bot, while the Valkyrie is based upon the F-14, it isn't an F-14. There are a number of key differences including the lack of rear horizontal stablizers on the Valyrie, and the vectored thrusters. The verticle stablizers are also set too closely on the Valkyrie compared to the Tomcat.

I guess they have to modify a real F-14 to be able to accommodate transformation into a robot Battroid.

Just like practically every TF jets and vehicles.

Starscream's F-15 jet can't be exactly the real F-15. It's got portions stretched or shortened. Not to mention the chest and other robot parts under the fuselage.

No, it's more than that. the Seekers are pretty accurate to the F-15 with very little variation for transformation. and that is really only with the toys. The Valkyrie has major differences that separate it from the F-14, most of which I have already mentioned. Those are radical differences. Thus, while the F-14 was the inspiration for the Valkyrie, there are enough major differences for it to be classified as a completely separate aircraft.

One of the newer F-22 Raptors or possibly one of the space planes that have been used recently.

By the way, has there ever been a female seeker? Like ever in any cannon story. I know that the Con's have Thunderblast and several others but it's cars and a boat I think. So Why not a female seeker or two?

Hey, I got a hug, ace! You should write some fanfic about them, I'd read it! *I can read, just not write*

Jetfire dosn't look like any jet I have ever seen, I'm no expert though, but he just looks far to angular and boxish for any jet I could possibly think of...

There's alot of fanmade female seekers, but I don't think there are actually any in any cannon, Tramp would probally know though. I can't think why not really, everyone loves the seekers, and most fans are boys, and therefore like girls. It would make perfect sence!

As Tangent said, it isn't a real design. It's simply the Veritech Valyrie.

As for canon female seekers, to my knowledge, no there aren't any difinitively shown. However, in Episode 3 of the cartoon, one of the Seeker "clones" has been speculated as possibly being a femme. These two screencaps show the individual in question. It's the violet and silver one leaping over Thundercracker—

Image

Image This is not clear evidence of a female Seeker, but it has been speculated that it might be based upon the build and colors. It is much more slender than the others.
That is the only canon Seeker shown who may be female, though there are a lot of fan-made ones. I've even made a few myself including turning Nightbird into one.
