Bishop brings up some damn valid points. Ryan offers a free service. Bitching doesn't help anyone or anything.

Well. That was unexpected. I don't have access to the staff forum Bishop.

I guess this time was a shock. Since I've only been a member since spring, I never would have known about the last reset, and i've been a member of many other forums, and this is the first time something like this ever happened.

Well.. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.. and i'll definitely learn to start saving some of the stuff I post.

I'm suprised everyone's bitching about lost post counts when a more vital question needs to be asked.

How's progress with the forums going?

Specifically, does anyone know if we should expect any more board resets, or what kinks with the code need fixing?

This isn't a demand, but some infomation on current progress might help stop some people from fretting about the board wipe, among other stuff.

I've lived through a number of forum crashes in various fandoms in my time spent online, ranging from one so bad it pretty much life-supported the community, to one where the owner actually kept daily backups so it was more of a minor hiccup. You learn to accept and deal with the possibility after a while.

I'd say that, on the whole, this falls on the "mildly annoying" spectrum of forum crashes. I find it to be sufficiently offset by the fact that I still like the vastly better usability of this forum software, and it now seems to be running a lot more smoothly.

I wouldn't even call it to mildly annoying. Not when you compare it to previous crashes where we lost MONTHS worth of data.

Time people stopped dwelling in the past and started to move forward. **** happens, when it does, you don't whine about it, you deal with it and move on.

Imagine how Ryan's feeling about this right now. You losing a couple of posts compared to the fact it's his reputation that's taking a hit and he has to see complaints from a bunch of (and you can take offense to this if you want but it's the way people are acting) children crying over some missed posts.

Like CB said, we all lost posts, a number of people had different projects going. So you're not alone, you're not special, you weren't the only one inconvenienced.

a similiar thing happened to Sustain and the RDD subforum, whe's a mod there, but is unauthorised to view that forum.


also another probelm with the new layout is that when viewing one of your PM folders the option to delete/mark as important stretches into the ad bar on the right, this means you can't delete PMs unless you've got enough PMs in that folder to push the OK button(on the far right) down underneath the ad bar on the right.

You have it in reverse this was a minor crash, the one earlier was a complete board wipe.
If those that were here then remember we lost EVERYTHING.. Every post was gone. Postcounts were lost but not so many since a backup was performed right before the crash.

I remember all the little post-whores were bawling their eyes out because their ten million posts of spam had been deleted in a blink of a second. Glorious.

I cant get use to this new lay out , I liked the old lay out 100 times better, i think it was alot better then this new one ..This ne one dont even have a nice look to it like the old its so confusing
