It really pisses me off to know that some little kid out there is off playing with some really great figure, but not playing with it right. I've been to some of my parents friends houses and most of the time they have young kids about in second or third grade. Every kid I've seen was throwing a figure and nearly destroying it. I've seen kids throw an alternator down stairs, G1 figures across a room, and an MP Prime slammed in a doorway. It's just turns my stomach to know theres a kid out there destroying an 08 BB. Parents should control there kids.

My 5 year old is as careful with his toys as I am. Of course, my wife and I always taught him to value and appreciate his things. I'm sure lots of parents do the same, but it is a shame to see such wanton destruction.

Meh... there's plenty to go around. I could care less what kids do with their toys.

Bad parenting. I think adults need to have a license to breed. Must meet minimum requirements of intelligence, and show that they are responsible people for bringing up a child. This would be spending time with their kid(s), and showing them how to play, be responsible, and take care of their toys and other posessions. I know, that'll never happen.

But, yes, I agree. That is simply toy abuse, and the dumb nose-pickers don't know any better sadly.

if they play rough with them...well, it is their toy.

Umm, they're toys. Thats what we all did with our first TFs. Gotta give them some battle scars!!

I've put mine down the garbage disposal, launched them on rockets, floated them off roogs in Parachutes, it goes on and on.

They are toys for kids to have fun with.....

imo, if you think you need 08 BB more than a kid, you need to get a grip.

You mean to say you never once destroyed a toy when you were a kid?

Agreed. It's a piece of metal and plastic, if it gets broken and torn up, well, that's just what happens. And better on an inanimate object than something living.

Of course, the day may come when the kid grows up and kicks themselves for destroying a valuable figure, monetarily or otherwise.

Of course, I do wonder how a kid would have acquired 20th Prime, save on clearance. Those guys are pretty expensive. And I doubt it'd be much fun to a kid, Alts. as well, but to each their own.

My kid loves his 20th Anniv DVD Prime too (yes, it was on clearance for about $25 and Daddy has a soft spot for his kids when they want Transformers).

Oh yes, I remember destroying many a toy in my day, but not out of random abuse. There were usually some theatrics to it, and they often went with a "bang", especially G1 Joes. I never destroyed my TFs though.

true true, however i really regret carving up my Lion-O and drawing on him with red marker to make give him "battle damage"

Hah, reminds me of my sister's extensive Barbie collection. They all had "make-up" drawn on with marker. Otherwise they are in pristine shape.

I played rough with my toys sometimes, I pushed the powermaster Prime off some steps and broke the little tab that was there to connect Prime to his trailer. I also used to get Primes at garage sales and take them apart, and tried to set one on fire. I played alot nicer with my other figures though. I had two bumblebees, one was yellow and one was a little darker yellow, not sure why but i think i called the darker one firecracker or something...

oh yeah i just remembered, one of the 1st things my younger cousin did when he got his movie Bumblebee was pop the legs off to re-enact the movie not too much damage but if he keeps doing it i'm pretty sure the ball and socket joints are finna wear out plus he never presses the button to automorph, oh well at least he enjoys playing with it

I used to have a neighbor family with this awesome little kid. My garage was filled to the brim with all my toys, and he came over to play all the time. His favorite, however, were the Transformers. He was a big fan of Armada and all that, but his family was poor, and couldn't afford the toys. He used to love playing with Armada Red Alert - he got really good at the transformation process, and never had read the instructions or anything.

However, they had to move. Before they moved, the kid came over to play again, and he asked where Red Alert was. I said, "wait right there," and went down the hall. I came back out with Red Alert, gun, and instructions, and I said, "This is yours. Take care of it, man."

I had forgotten about that until I read this thread. I wonder if he's still playing with it.

Mmm, toy destruction. I was good at that job, unlike every job I've held as an adult.

I used to build cheap Revell model ships with weights in them, put a couple M95 waterproof firecrackers in them, and watch them sink in pools of water. Was awesome to watch them split in half and sink. Now I build very expensive Trumpeter and Tamiya models that I wouldn't imagine A) blowing up or B) a child buying and building. Hell, USS North Carolina cost me 90 big ones alone last year.

I don't know how many Ninja turtles I went through. I know I had repeat figures of all 4 turtles. And I was hell on Robocop figures. I used to love driving screwdrivers through his chest like the scrapyard scene in Robo 1. Probably a few died that way.

Aside from wishing I had a few of my old toys left today, I'll live happily with the memories of endless hours of toy abuse. Luckily they couldn't scream...

What's wrong with kids playing with their toys? I mean...they're toys, they're supposed to be played with and I'm sure most of us put our first Transformers through the same conditions when we were children. My old Optimus Prime is now headless and handless and my mom's old G1 Slag has been lost forever.

Once they grow up, I'm sure they'll appreciate their toys a little more, but for now, it's completely normal.

I think what he is saying is that there is a difference between playing with toys, and abusing them. TF's are not built to be thrown down stairs, or into doors or walls. A kid should know the value of their toy where they know that if they break it on purpose, that's it. No replacement because mom and dad work hard for their money, and they have other things to buy than toys non-stop.

Now, I know kids are kids, and toys are meant to be played with, and there will be some wear on them because of that. But bashing them into walls, or sending them down the stairs or out a window is not playing, that's destructive behavior.

I can see a LOT of movie toys going into trash bins since they are not as durable as, say, Cybertron figures. The rarity of the movie figs because of this will eventually make them worth a lot of money if TF popularity continues. Hmmm...

Transformers is a destructive cartoon. It's all about the violence. Obviously that translates into play as well.


If i was a kid and had movie Prime and Bonecrusher, the first thing I would probably be is to decapitate Bonecruser.

Hell, at 29, I still might.

Of course, destruction rules with children, so they may tear toys apart. I know I may have destroyed a toy as a child, but never a TF. Stupid sugar and it's many effects on children ... I's a shameful sight to see a TF toy die thanks to children . We pray for thee, TF ...

I agree with Bonger, it is a destructive cartoon, & just from watching that children could fall into a state of destruction to take out on toys. Once again, stupid sugar, & it's effects on children...

Kids will be kids. Seriously, why complain about them distroying their own toys, only they lose out, not you.
