Look at that "um....we got murdered" link a couple posts up. They use different alt images for each mode depending on with of their two alt modes they've transformed into.Tammuz wrote:do they use that icon for all tactics or do they use something similiar to the quints faces, with an multiple images, in battle?
And unlike the Quintessons, I have coded the Overcharges to be playable characters (eventhough no one can have one yet

This is the real deal. Triplechangers are here!

Now Esplain to me how these triple changerz works? As being different from normal jets that have Avoid and strafe already.

When it rams it transforms into a tank and when it strafes/avoids it transforms into a jet.Kryptikore wrote:Omega Sentinel wrote:Something for everyone to get excited about.Rolltide wrote:triplechangers, oh yes...very nice

but we only get to choose from pre-selected alt combinations; we can't mix and match our own two alts from the database, right?

True. But there should be enough variety to choose from to keep everyone happy.Tammuz wrote:but we only get to choose from pre-selected alt combinations; we can't mix and match our own two alts from the database, right?
EDIT: I'm actually leaning towards making the triplechangers prize alts for different things.

Would they be available to all factions including pred and maximal

i want to say NOOOOO! in my best vader voice but that makes sense.(though it also means making competitions fair, and a little less than random)
and on the plus side it also means that having won a triple changer. you have the combo of your choice made.
how exactly are tactics going to work? i mean i have character whose helicopter/tank triple changer, and is their any advantage in having strafe in both modes(perhaps making the upgrade cost cheaper, or being able to push shared tactics past the cap of 10?)
and how about unlocking tactics work? for example would my chopper-tank comes with avoid and ram starting at 1k as standard, if he gets 2 skill would he unlock his chopper's strafe? and then would their be an advantage to getting the required upgrades to unlock strafe for the tank mode?
EDIT: is it caelus? i heard nothing of these in there

No reason Preds/Maximals shouldn't have them. Transmetals were quasi-triplechangers, Optimal Primal was a full quadchanger. Could also use the opportunity to make up a new Beast Wars subgroup that can turn iinto two different types of animal - a variation on Fuzors.
And as far as the benefit of doubling up on tactics, I suspect it will be more of a frequency of use thing.
Correct me on this stuff if I'm wrong Tammuz - You're the mathman - but 10Strafe amounts to a 33% chance that given an opportunity to act, your character will strafe, right? Well, if you have 2(10)Strafe, that's a 66% chance. Also, if you have 2(5)Strafe, you get the same effect as 10Strafe, but cheaper.
However, I just realized, this can't be how it will work, because upper level players could potentially run in to the following problem: 66% chance of strafing, a 33% chance of ramming, and a 33% chance of repairing. Can the game handle that?
So long as one of the tactics is avoid it isn't so much of a problem, but then you're still talking about only a 1% chance your character will attack without a tactic.
Of course, v2 will have a very different tactic structure, but we may be worrying over something irrelevant.
Edit: Tam, I suggested the rather obscure Overcharge drone be used as a prototype Triplechanger (canonically appropriate!) about a month ago when the Quint missions first started up. Apparently OS was listening or just thinks a lot like me.

Can I make one suggestion in regards to the Tripps?
Can you change the text to read as "transforms into a Triplechanger and strafes/rams/avoids" instead of "Triplechanger tank/jet"? Or even if the code could be changed so it just reads "transforms into a jet and strafes/avoids" or "transforms into a tank and rams"?
Gets awfully cluttered in there.
Word.

Triple changers as prizes? Sounds good to me. They are supposed to be rare after all, and if they were available to everyone then everyone would have one (well duh!).

Maybe, but they'd have one I'd hate to see them be too popular, but this whole "prize" thing still spooks me.

I think that all subgroups should be freely available in the long run.
