Edit: I'll prefer to get rid of it as soon as I get it now, it's a limited run so the $$$ make me want to get rid of it anyway... or maybe not. I suppose there is a possibility that the chest piece separates from whatever fills that hole, in which case I may not be quite as pissed, but it still won't look right... I guess. I'm really split all of a sudden.

In short the Insecticons got shot. Anyway, the guy did say the quality is better than TFC... I think. So there's something that makes it sound better. He also likes yellow apparently... which I can totally agree with!

Correct me if Im wrong, but they said the green version was the limited release only available in a box set. I want the yellow version that everyone is passing on to wait for the green version. And Hercules is better. Take it from somebody who owns him.

Nope. It's the other way around. If you'd check you'd see they're all sold out at BBTS actually. Though the green version will be released in a single package for whatever reason.

Also, Hercules being better is purely an opinion, and as you are a person who does not have Giant I do not consider this opinion as even close to definitive. All of the Maketoys Giant figures have more streamlined robot modes, complete with double jointed arms, less clunky legs and an aesthetic that's more in line with Fansprojects Crossfire sets, the figures themselves simply seem superior to me in every way (except for the lack a light-piping). The combined mode on both of them is a little more so-so for me. I like the fact that the Hercules cleans up the arms by using the treads as a forearm, but it's still nothing like the IDW style and it hinders the legs of the individual figures. I also like the proportions of the Giant's legs better, the Hercules' combined mode just looks all shins. Actually the more I look at it, the more the Hercules looks sort of "lanky", where as the Giant is more "beef". Maketoys' Giant may be smaller but it looks like it has just as much presence as TFC's Hercules.

Ultimately I feel it all boils down to a "who's d*** is bigger" type mentality, which the Hercules obviously wins, but remember "size isn't everything".

Edit: Well then again there's always that chest piece thing, but I'm guessing I'd be the only one complaining. I'll probably get over it...

I own Hercules and it is fantastic, my biggest grip is that due to the crane arm he cannot stand close to a wall which means that in order for him to stand on my number 1 display shelf he has the crane arm mounted on his right arm as some sort of weapon.

I wasn't expecting to like Giant so much but I think the overall level of realism on the vehicles is higher than Hercules and the individual bots do look better but who would keep them like that? I like the yellow. I agree about the tiny head but maybe that could be fixed later???

Have we ever gotten a good look at Giant's face? All the pics I've seen always had his head down a bit.

I'm loving this guy! Sure he's got a hole in his chest, but that's where the chest shield goes so I'm not complaining. My only uncertainty is where to put this big guy. I don't have a specific G2 section, as my collection is more of an amalgamation, so I'm currently thinking either using him as Classics Landfill or classics Six-Builder.

I'm definitely saving my money for a jolly green Giant! I own Herc, but Dev is one of my faves. For any other Combiner I'd definitely buy one or the other, but for Devestator, I want BOTH!

Because of all the stuff on this shoulders and all the sort-of-kibble on this upper arms and chest, unless you remove his head, you will never get a clear shot. If this guy were real he wouldn't last one battle because he wouldn't be able to see squat...his line of sight would be almost like tunnel-vision.

He could be the Constructicons when they were Autobots (or at least before Megatron brainwashed 'em). Sure, the cartoon didn't give them different colors for that time, but they didn't give Skyfire Decepticons colors either (which eHobby did for the Henkei release).

I still think Hercules looks better but when it comes to Mixmaster the sculpting in truckmode looks much better when it comes to the Giant figure. The cab is much more realistic, don't like the flat front of the Hercules Mixmaster cab.

You do realize that the picture from the fan review we're using for the story thumbnail image is of only set 1 and 2 combined, right. If you look at the image of the finished yellow Giant set from Maketoys, the standard wing-style chest piece is clearly there and appears to completely cover any holes or gaps seen in the reivew image. It's presumably going to come with set 3 that includes Scrapper who usually comes with that part.

No need to go selling these on EBay yet.

I'm still on the fence about re-selling it either way just because it's the limited release version, and not at all because of the gap. Actually I may have just not phrased it very well, I've always been s*** at language arts. He may have thought I hate the devastator that doesn't have the chest piece.

Anyway. Yes, I hate the chest piece on the original G1 Devastator. If you've ever payed attention to my posts you will know that this is most definitely not because I am a newer fan or anything. I love G1, I just don't worship it. I do worship BOLD fonts though...

So if anyone makes a chest filling block for this on Shapeways I'd probably buy it, yellow Devastator or otherwise.
