The city mode DOES look badass. I love it. But unfortunately, it's the only think I love about this project, and hitting 1 out of 3 for me isn't worth my $400...

Speculating This toy is clearance bound. Maybe i'll buy it when sites deep clearance it.

If Hasbro released this toy for around $100, I would buy it.

Think You've got to really love the original media character and 1987 toy to fork over $400+ for a 3rd party toy version. Quite frankly I don't.

Yeah, I was talking to my buddy on Skype about this figure earlier and he suggested it might look good on my WfC/FoC shelf next to my PlanetX not-Omega Supreme and I think he's right. To me this is a better fit for a sort of Cybertronian Scorponok or something like that. Very big, very stylized, very manga. I dig it, but it's probably not a good fit as a 'Classics' Scorponok because the design is kinda out there.

Seems like a change of heart eh Tsu?

Anyways, I kind of agree. Sure no one is forcing us to buy this (And I so want to get this because Tomy won't re-issue Megazarak in their Encore line) but given all the 1st party releases in the pipeline............arrgh!

The 3rd party prices are starting to be ridiculous...if you can get a Tomy Metroplex Titan class for less than this........makes you want to start thinking if it (Pandinus) is worth the pain and effort.

The look of this is right up my alley.

It is so good, it has me reconsidering getting their Metroplex to stand with it, especially since they have teased the other city-bots.

BUT, the Hasbro Metroplex is VERY good, and bigger, AND they have hinted at Botcon that another titan class figure may be in the works.

But, going by current fiction, the Metro Titans are supposed to be much, much bigger than Omega Supreme and Scorponok, so I may be able to convince myself to get this even without their Metroplex. He's no more expensive than a similarly sized combiner, so the price is OK.

After having it in hand and playing around with some of the features it's high up on my want list. The head being a triple changer is something so cool I can't stop focusing on it when I look at the figure itself.

I also love that the claws don't have to be the hands. He actually has hands under the claws, as the claws are more like gauntlets. Just looks so damn sharp next to Utopia.

Given the insane popularity of Botcon Scorponok this year, it's hard to imagine HasTak NOT doing one of their own in the next 2-3 years. I'm definitely making that gamble.

Also, given the (presumed) success of Titan Metroplex, I can't imagine a Trypticon is not in the pipeline. Like Metroplex, it will probably take a couple years to tool the thing, but I think we'll get him eventually.

Not at all dude! Plenty of people are doing that, and I must admit at least some of those figures (particularly Grimlock, considering how he's still a metal T-Rex and all) fit in quite nicely :).

Whatever happened to that massive non-transforming Skorponok Takara was showing off a while back? That thing looked like it would fit right in on a Classics shelf.

Also, you may be right about Trypticon but I'm betting we'll see a Scorponok or Fort Max before we see him. I don't see Hasbro giving the green light to a project that large at such a high price point for a TF that doesn't turn into a proper robot. I could be wrong on that, but with the recent Takara reissue of Fort Max, I think they've laid the groundwork for it.

Fans balked at paying $500+ for a non-transforming figure, regardless of its size. I don't think it's been seen since.

Here's some digibashes showing this toy in G-1 colors. Guessing the actual toy colors won't look this good.

Image

Think the tip of the scorpion tail with the Decepticon symbol on it needs to be silver or gold.

That head in scorpion mode needs to be bigger. Guessing the eventual black Zarak repaint with retools will give that beast mode a bigger cover head.

Yeah, no.

Seriously, a Metroplex toy even remotely in scale with, say, a deluxe car would have to be the size of a house. Especially if you take the "city-former" thing literally (as in he turns into a city for Transformers).

On topic, this looks pretty nice. Hope it isn't too expensive.

Color cant save this thing. Theres almost nothing I like about it. Hate the faction tail. Hate the head being so small. Hate the rosery beads hanging from the back of his head. Hate the overall chunky, stubby hunchback look.

Whoa, only just noticed the Decepticon insignia on the stinger!

Looking at this thing properly, it looks magnificent. He looks like a colossal war machine- hunched over, bulky and muscular. He looks like he could tear Fort Max limb from limb with those claws! I've always thought G1 Scorponok's robot mode looked much too "normal"- he just looks like a normal robot that's been made huge. This guy really looks like a giant- like he's more of a walking weapon than a mere transformer. I think the hunch really helps with that.

The scorpion mode is a bit iffy (but then, so was the original) but that fortress mode is awesome! Love the use of the tail as a spire, and the claw-lined ramp.

Gotta have this. Perhaps come up with a new name for him though, as I already have Cybertron Dark Scorponok as my "main" Scorponok.

people saying "It's just the same price as a combiner" is all well and good, but the thing about a combiner is that you get 5 or 6 individual robots as well as one big one. I'm still finding this a bit pricey for me. It does look lovely, but not for my Classics collection, not as Scorponok. Maybe the Black Zarak version?
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I admit, I'm still in limbo over which Scorponok I want on my shelves.

MakeToys is the giant hulking citybot that I drooled over looking at it on the G1 catalog images wheread PE is teasing one that looks similar to the comics, which is the only medium I got to know the character of Scorponok, since Rebirth was so short, and I've yet to watch the Headmasters anime.

While the beast looks impressive for what it is , i don't find it impressive as Scorponok . I seriously can't understand why Metroplex got the G1 treatment and Scorponok got the toxic avenger .

If Tripticon is there next in line ? i i wonder if the mutant look will follow on .

To me the decision is pretty simple. I want Scorpinok to really counter Fort Max and I already have Warden. So PE's it is.

Plus this mould is massive. You know who else is massive? Xovregn's PM Prime, his canonical adversary. Sure he still towers over him, but if I'm getting this mould it'll be in the superior (IMO) Black Zarak colours. It's really the best of both worlds. It may also look nice against FP's PM Prime.

Also, I'm just not going to spend $400 on the same mould. The same character? Maybe. But not the same mould.

Plus, this thing is just massive. The girth is just incredible ... which is a problem if you have limited shelf space.
