But none of MT's combiner(2) went on sale? I'm hoping for a sub $350 price point but who knows.

I thought Giant did at one point, but I didn't follow him closely. I preferred TFC's Herc.

I think some (not all) of the Yellow Sets went on sale, at some point. Green wasn't available long enough to go on sale.

Talking about green vs yellow Giant. Many of the issues with the yellow giant got worked out before Green giant got released. Is Maketoys going to make sure all of the issues and kinks are worked out with Quantron before releasing it?

Looks like the preorder might go live soon!

Update!

Looks like $400 with an eta of September. The link is still not live.

To put that in perspective, the total cost of FP's Menasor was $390, so it's in the same ballpark.

The latter. It's cool to see the price, but these did not yet go live. (I have been getting notifications from BBTS whenever anything is up for preorder in the 3P scene. Nothing yet official from them.)

Why the drastic $399 high price for this? Looks like Maketoys just raised there Transformers Combiners toy prices. Was hoping this would be $300 or $330. When Green Giant was first released, It only cost $330.

Not quite. With their Giant release, MKT had the opportunity to split costs over two releases, their Yellow Giant and their Green Giant. Yellow Giant was sold in 2-packs at about $120 each, leading to an overall cost of about 360 for the set. Green Giant was, of course, released as a box set for $355. I'm using BBTS prices because that's where I do my shopping.

As I mentioned before, $400 isn't that high. Fansproject's Menasor came out to $390 for all 5.

Why the price increase? My thinking is two-fold. First is that it's no longer 2012 when their last gestalt came to be released. Things change, inflation happens, it sucks. Secondly is that unlike Green Giant, there doesn't seems to be a repaint of this set on the horizon. I would love SG colours, but I find that unlikely. MKT would need to recoup everything in one release.

Why the box set? Again I have two thoughts on that too: the first is that you go from having no team to having the entire team in one release. No half-formed team standing on the shelves like the Stunticons waiting for Motormaster. The second is that in this manner, there is no chance for collectors to stop collecting the team when it's not done. It would not surprise if there was a decent number of people who started collecting FP's stunticons, but lost interest after the first couple of releases. In this way there is much less guessing on the supply/demand front.

I was thinking If these are almost ready to ship out in full box sets then they clearly have all the figures pretty much finished and could have just as easily did two 2 packs and a single voyager over 3 month or whatever and kept everybody interested and just a satisfied with the speed of getting a full combiner.

At least buyers only have to pay One shipping fee price. Instead of having to pay Five seperate shipping fee prices.

Buyers of this gift set. get to play with all of the toys at once. Then combine the toy right away instead of waiting months to combine it.

I get the benefits of buying the box set and understand a lot a fans will like it this way . If this could have been done like i mentioned above i don't think there would have been too many complaints and would give more fans a chance to get this set in a more affordable way .

Personally i like to get one at a time it gives me a chance to transform them a couple of times and have it sit on the shelf and appreciate the figure , i know when i have bought the last two or 3 parts for a combiner together i do a quick transformation then it's straight into limb mode and don't get the satisfaction i did with the first couple .

I got in on the MM early bird pricing, so M3 came out to $350 for me. Still, $400 does not strike me as out of line for a Computron box set. I would say a box set even warrants higher pricing, for the very reason that paying for all 5 figures at once will price some customers out of the market. They have to compensate somehow.

I say bring em all on as a set. Im sure there will be plenty for everybody just like giant got a new run and menasor is still in stock everywhere. And for those who enjoy the individual bot modes, nobody is forcing You to keep them in combiner mode (aside from FP Motormaster being a nightmare to transform) As far as cash issues, I would rather take the hit once and get it over with.

ooh, I like the sound of payment plans.

O_O Me too! *peers at BBTS* Please? I'm not Rated X. I have an accountant that tends to yell at me and make me sleep on the couch... (Plus there are a few other large dollar items I might consider if paid out over a couple of months...)

Im not super rich lol. I offer a few tips to help my fellow collectors have more spending money for the hobby.

1. Dont have kids.

2. Dont get married. If they pressure you, ditch them and find a new one.

3. Eat TV dinners for lunch at work instead of eating out everyday.

4. Dont go out and party every weekend. Limit it to once a month. Stay home and catch some good TV instead.

5. Be humble. You dont need to have the newest car on the block.

6. Mod Edit: NO.
Autobot032 wrote:4. No discussion nor promotion of illegal activities.
This includes but is not limited to drug use, Theft, solicitation of a minor, Illegal downloading of movies and copyright infringement (including the distribution of files such as video game ROMs and PDFs of commercially available books). Read the rest of the rules here: general-rules-for-seibertron-com-s-forums-t14626.php

7. Drink beer, not liquor, its cheaper. Take advantage of happy hours when dating.

8. Buy generic brands. "Great Value" brand food items from walmart is a perfect example. They are half the price of name brands. Every major chain has their own brand.

8. Mind over matter. Block addictions out of your head. Smoking, gambling, women, etc. can be very costly.

Not saying this will work for everyone but it works for me. I have a good job. But some people who work with me and make the same salary are always broke because of their personal choices. If I ever needed a payment plan to be able to afford a toy robot, I would flat out quit the hobby and sell my collection. But thats just me. Im not trying to knock anybody who chooses that option.

I can't support this one, my wife makes all the money.

But it's REALLY good money.
