Animatede Optimus's vehicle mode looks sorta dumb. Ehobby Orion Pax if anything. Most of the rest are too "super deformed" looking for me to get excited about. I hope this line ends quickly and we get to Universe 2008 quickly.

Bingo.

I had not read that thought in words yet, but yes, quite true.

Thats what it is,
i like bumblebee as i am a BB collector but the 'teen titan-ness' of it sets them too far apart,
Armada toys were a giant leap away from the norm but still recognisable transformers, if these are the first then I'm not to sure about the rest of the line

But depending upon how good their alt/robot modes are, you'd be hard-pressed to identify any of the toys from any of the lines as a Transformer if you didn't already know what it was.

Heck, the main reason that I only recently got into TFs is that I didn't distinguish them from the standard toy vehicles that I don't collect! :P

I'd disagree with that. You've only got to see a display where someone's put figures from different series together for proof that there's a general "TF look." The Animated figures look very different to everything that's gone before.

By the way, I'm not saying that's a good or a bad thing, just that I think that's why a lot of people are reacting very negatively to Animated.

Actually Prime and Bumblebee and Ratchet look VERY G1-ish. I think some people like to whine and bitch for no good reason.

I mean look at the movie figures, Aside from Optimus not one of them is recognizable as a Transformer.

1. I feel obligated to express that I think I will really like all the animated series toys. There's a place for stylistic interpretations just like there is a place for realistic interpretations...(BUT THERE IS NO PLACE FOR SHELLFORMERS! :P). I will most likely keep these in robot form most of the time because I like their style, just like I used to like to watch and draw the stylistic interpretations that some cartoons like Batman TAS had (The Batman is an even better example though I don't watch it much). I like lockdown and bumblebee in both modes but for instance I feel like Prime and Bulkhead are really better looking only in robot mode (and even then, it's much more pronounced with prime)

2. Does anyone else think it's suspicious that that rocket on prime's Ax just HAPPENS to look like it can be used as a trailer hitch? :) I'm hoping for some combining action via a different character later ala armada overhaul...since it looks like a trailer proper is out of the question based on what we've seen so far (not that it's completely out of the realm of possibility, but I'm not holding my breath)[/i]

See I think that the movie toys stand out even more than the new animated toys do. I've noticed that, at least in my collection, the movie toys stick out like a sore thumb. I think the brighter colors and smoother lines will actually blend in better than the movie stuff. My 2cents.

Something doesn't sit right with Lockdown for me, Bulkhead's not my style, Prime's pre-earth looks interesting, but I'd prefer a faceplate... Prowl, however, looks fuggin' badass and I can't wait to get one.

Do we need to start an argument about whether the Movie toys stand out more than Animated? Can't we just accept that both lines use designs that are different from the normal TF "look"?

Lockdown's legs alone are made of Cybertron Crumplezone and Sidewyas parts. Hopefully it is more refined when it's actually released.

alright I'll mirror them, but it's not my fault if I get banned for excessive pics cause someone complained to the Mods, I've been warned against that plenty of times.. I just hope this is the one time they think it's okay so that I don't get banned from here for awhile.. you asked for it!!!

I have been straining to not post them.. but one time for you guys only... I can't keep doing it because I get complained on.. If I go down for this, some of you guys need to PM the mods if I get in trouble and back me up, so I don't get screwed... I'm only doing this for you guys...

Bulkhead could easily be a favorite of the line. Lockdown's alt mode looks pretty cool. His transformation looks pretty impressive as well

I'm really amazed by the transformations... They're like magic ! The only one whose altmode betrays his bot form is Prime, and we've yet to see his earthmode.

I can't get over Prowl seemingly getting bulk out of nowhere.

Sometimes I think Bumblebee ate Ravage and stole his little rocket boosters. :P

I'll be picking them up, unless they don't look as good in person all of a sudden.

The only one I really liked was Bulkhead, and that was only because I thought he would make a good Omega Supreme. I did like a few features of them, though. I kind of liked Bumblebee's rockets. I also noticed that Bumblebee comes with The Matrix for some reason.
