Thanks to an alert from Seibertronian Kurthy and via the Transformers: Rarity of Convoy Facebook page, we have new images of a new Lucky Draw figure, now based on the MP-36 Megatron mold! The figure is done up in the standard shiny gold finish, strongly resembling his appearance in the G1 Episode "The Golden Lagoon." What this means for the noted paint chipping issues has yet to be seen. The figure is part of a still unannounced Takara Tomy Campaign, though we should be getting word on what that campaign will be soon. Check out this awesome looking (if slightly mistransformed) figure below, and let us know what you think of it in the comments section below!

Guys, that's gold-colored chrome covering the plastic. Not the dreaded Gold Plastic at all. Not without it's problems though, because of the extra layer and material, chipping and overly tight joints will be this guy's biggest worry. But it's not like you will transform him and pose as a James Bond villain, right?

I knew it! I said it a few weeks ago and a few pages back. I said they would have a gold one, but I didn't expect golden chrome!? Whoa! Bet a black one is coming. Boy if they do that and a black mirror finish, with a silver Decepticon logo, I'll freaking but one at any cost!! Lol

If it is Lucky Draw, well...

- 5 to 10, period.

Then again, it could be a KO (KO's with gold chrome do exist!) or even weirder, it could be someone's custom. Anybody remember the guy who actually requested his Encore Fortress Maximus to be gold-plated?

Thanks to Facebook user Sam Robertz we have in hand images of Takara Tomy MP-36 Megatron. You can see him in all his shiny glory in the images below. If you are curious why this Megatron figure is gold, you may want to look up the G1 Episode entitled "The Golden Lagoon".

I'm a bit disappointed with the gray pieces.

When are they going to transform him into the golden gun? For me, that's one figure I would have sent off for grading and never opened.

I'd be worried about this Megatron being brittle based on the gold plastic.

No, he won't be brittle, as it's gold paint, not gold plastic. The paint might be brittle, though.

Also, is it really an homage to "The Golden Lagoon", or is it just part of the Japanese obsession with chromed and clear figures?
