I might really need some optical laser surgery as I can't see any semblance of the G1 cartoon in that head. Sure the crest and general/generic Skyfire design but the face? It's off by 360 degrees! Daca toys, for all it's faults, at least got the face right.
And, how'd Prime and RID got involved here?

Looks on par to me. Funpub has butchered heads a lot worse.
I could understand the hate for the IT Tetra Jet heads, but I think the negativity for this one is exaggerated. Ditto for the hips. I tend to look at figures for what they are, not what they aren't. In this case, I see a screen accurate Skyfire. For me, its worth the price. I hated the Macross jet being in Transformers to begin with. The G1 cartoon gave the character a real identity instead of being a Robotech repaint.

Another fallacy? (Non-sequitur, I believe...)
As far as the face, I think I actually see a bit of resemblance, but it is very hard to tell with the glare from the flash. Some flat paint might have been really helpful here...

If you really love the G1 Cartoon that much why not just get into the Masterpiece line? It's not about money since you say you have it. And if you say you can't get the whole G1 cast. Well that's all third parties are doing these days so you'll get the whole cast sooner or later. And if it's about size and you have no room for these barbie dolls than just get a bigger house! Miami properties are cheap anyways. You're paying for a POS Kronos only smaller and more expensive...Get the Real POS! at least Kronos looks bettter.. ::Shrugs::

I don't like the MP line because I feel the figures are "big" for nothing. I am truly a fan of the CHUG scale in general. (scout, deluxe, voyager, and a few leader class characters) Individual aesthetics and the amount of "neo" used varies from company to company, but as long as I can get all the G1 characters in CHUG scale I'm happy. I display figures from Impossible Toys, Hasbro, and Fansproject all on the same shelf. For me scale trumps aesthetic. Another issue I have with the MP line (Both official and 3rd party) is it seems to be more of a "fan favorite" characters line. Im more into the obscure. I don't think there will ever be an MP transforming Alpha Trion or an MP Alicon or an MP Tetra Jet seeker. So CHUG really does it for me. That's why I like this figure so much. It's not perfect but in looks, I give it an 8 out of 10. That rating subject to change if the quality sucks.

Wha?Kindly elucidate further my good man.......as I mentioned, base head structure to the crest almost replicates the show version but the face, looks constipated.
Further more, one of our fellow posters has oh so finely mentioned thrice, why do all the pics cover his hips...promo pics that is?
I just wished maybe FP can get a cartoon Skyfire right where others have failed.

mooncake623 wrote:But G1 Cartoon!! it's all you ever talk about.. the more obscure characters barely had any screen time in the G1 cartoon why do you care about them so much?
Also I'm Glad you're gettting this cause you've wanted it from the start happy that it's finally happening for you. Also maybe you can ask one of Venksta to give him a new head

It's deviating a bit, but I'm with X in terms of preferring Classics to MP despite collecting almost completely due to the G1 cartoon.
Despite the huge jump in content from official and 3P lines, I don't think MPs will ever be complete in the way that Classics are. Or be even close to as affordable. I kinda dig those obscure characters too. Maybe it's silly, but if I can't be silly collecting toys then when can I be?
With Combiners Wars here and 3Ps doing Dinobots (and we have the Platinum releases of those too if you're good with that), I think Classics Seasons 1-the movie are finally done. There could be better takes on some characters (personally I want a deluxe Windcharger and Seaspray), but I think it's done for the most part.
And scale for MPs can get ridiculous. How big would you want Unicron to be? Or Metroplex? For me the question becomes "how many Superions do I really need"?
Anyhow, here's a clear pic of Sky Guardian's face and hips:

I've had Sky Guardian for months now and he truly is awesome. Complex but awesome. You would love the transformation since it gives Rubix cube a run for its money. Never understood your crusade against his hips, considering so many Hasbro figures have the same aesthetic.

Really? Because everyone else I heard from who had it said it's an absolute piece of garbage. Are you sure you aren't a paid shill or just feeling buyer's remorse?

I like it because it is a cartoon accurate Skyfire that is free of robotech aesthetic and scales great with CHUG figures. Nobodys paying me anything to speak my mind. I dont need their pennies. If I give it a thumbs up, its coming from the heart. The only thing I dislike is that it takes half an hour to transform.

Interesting that you only bothered to mention that you even had the toy after I brought it up. I haven't even seen anybody as much as hint at its existence since the thread originally got abandoned (which is the main reason I wondered if it had been cancelled).
And seriously. Look at this piece of junk.
It's hollow, the waist is too thin, the hips are completely wrong (the red L-shaped pieces should be part of the torso rather than the legs), there's too much space between the legs and the pelvis, and OH GOD THAT FACE. It's just an objectively bad looking toy.
But hey, I guess there's no accounting for SNOOFENGLOOP taste.

That is true. But there is a very well done tutorial video that takes you through the transformation. I used an online converter to rip the video to AVI file and burn it to a disk. Ill post the video link when I have a chance. Im using my cell phone right now.

Just put a bag over it's face. Or maybe you can substitute the head for the Power Mashers Jetfire head?
