People seem to always question who's lightsaber Megatron used to stab Optimus Prime in the Transformers animated movie. I have one theory. In the g1 episode "City of Steel" Hook is seen with a purple light saber just like the one Megatron used. Because of their rather large involvement the Constucticons had in the battle on Autobot City, it could be likely that Hook lost his saber.

Or it could be Megatron's. He could be a dark lord of the Sith. We don't know.

I like to imagine it was his, as his original Japanese toy had a sword as would later incarnations of the character like Animated. Since it was such a big part of the fight and considering how iconic the fight itself is I'm kinda surprised it didn't become a standard staple of the character.

I just always assumed it was his. He pulled it out of literally nowhere because he could. This is how the G1 cartoon works.

Where does Optimus' trailer go? That place.

Why is Shockwave flying over Autobot City but then not seen again during the battle? He left to go someplace for some reasons.

That said, these explanations aren't very fun, so Hook's lightsaber works for me too

I believe the original script says Megatron pulls the blade out of a little pocket in his boot. That's why he reaches down and pulls it out without looking and doesn't fumble, as he knows exactly where it is.

It's like that time in Starscream's Brigade when Jazz pulls his gun out of his back randomly. Megs pulls his sword out of his boot sheath. So it's his. I like to think Megs wanted this to be the final battle, so he made sure all the cons had supercharged their weapons (easy to do now they weren't fighting the bots constantly on Cybertron. And there was that season 2 episode with the giant stockpile of energon Shockwave randomly had, possibly Dessertion of the Dinobots, so Cybertron was getting Energy from somewhere). That's why they were able to outright kill the bots this time. And Megs made sure he was carrying ALL his weapons.

Although thinking about it, would have been cool if Prime had deployed his axe to fight against that sword.
