Ask the ones who hated Return of the The Jedi and X3.

x3 spiderman 3, and anything after batman 2 sucked... but the redux batman begins is the right concept an very faithful to the source material...I like lots of sequels but i think they should cut them off at 6..like the star wars trilogies...George Lucas should have kept going with the story an prequels his long break shows his vision had deteriorated over time...

I would love to see Astrotrain, Hot Rod, and what ULTRA MAGNUS would be like...

True or not, we just need to slow down here Mr. Bay!

I hope the film(s) is this successful, but we haven't even seen the results of the first film yet!

A few thoughts...

I can conceivably see 5 or even more TF films. It's actually pretty simple: there are so many characters, so many story lines that they simply cannot be worked into only 1, 2, or 3 movies. I think that Hollywood in general is starting to realize that the "cliffhanger" is the biggest sell IF IT'S DONE RIGHT. Spider-man 1 and 2 did it right. X-Men 2 did it right. The Matrix 1 and 2 did it right. I Know What You Did Last Summer did it wrong. Star Wars IV and V did it right. Not so much the true "sequel" per se, but a legitimate continuation of the storyline...something for the audience to LOOK AHEAD to. Shrek did not set up or warrant a sequel- it simply tried to take advantage of a successful brand; there were no storylines to follow from the first to second movies- which is why the franchise appears to have faltered now. Comic books lend themselves to these type of "cliffhanger" movies, which I think is why we're seeing such an influx of those movies. The problem is that most sequels being made are of the variety that has no ongoing storylines to hold our attention: Hostel II, Saw 3, Friday the 13th Part 488- Jason's Laxative Murders, Alien vs. Predator...oh, and coming soon: Police Academy 8, Shrek 4, Harry Potter and the Battle with Puberty or whatever. Consider a series of TF movies simply big TV shows with an ongoing plot: the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons taking place, not only on Earth, but on Cybertron as well and throughout the universe- the potential is unlimited. And i for one will welcome it :-) BRING IT!
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

I'm one of those people that wouldn't want it any other way.

Good action movies are hard to come by anymore and Bay makes some of the best action movies.

Transformers isn't meant to be an "epic" like everyone wants it to be.

Giant effin Robots that transform.

I have a feeling that if this movie does warrant sequels, which I think is 99 percent likely as the box office is going to be huge, the producers will find themselves having to listen more and more to the die hard fans, to keep people interested, especially if they want to make FIVE movies. Right now they have the benefit of the doubt because no one has ever seen a "live action" Transformer. A huge backlash is brewing of course if they don't deliver, which can just decimate a sequel. In the end they have got to give the core followers what they want to see, hear, and, experience story arch wise, which has never really been done succesfully in 5 movies. I think the transformers mythology that we all love can warrant five movies, but the people making them have alot to learn between now and the next film if they want to keep us interested. If it keeps making money though, maybe it will be re invented several times as Batman has and one day we will get the perfect Transformers movie.

My 2 cents.

that's all fine and dandy, but I prefer Quality over quantity..especially when it comes to Transformers, it shows in my collection, and my taste in women..

The movies should have sequels, as long as they are done correctly..

so are we looking at a story ark with the death of Optimus Prime?? The birth of Galvatron, and Rodimus Prime? The advent and destruction of Unicron?

or are they going to incorporate more series into this one? like have an Optimus Primal or something like that and mix it up??

What about Dr. Archevil?? I think Christopher Lloyd would make a perfect Dr. Archevil.. like he was the "Doc" in back to the future!!! only evil and sadistic..or maybe Jeremy Irons.. hmmm...

I personally think they should keep this movie on the G-1 track, ignore A/E/C and Beast Wars... but I will say this, if Prime gets Miffed up, I wouldn't mind him being a Fire truck by movie 4...or seeing a Totally kickass Rodimus Prime!!!

Excellent. Five is a good number for Transformers...particularly if it leads up to the Quintessons in some way.

I would honestly think that any other human characters carried over from G1 woud probably either be either visual or name references, & that'd be about it. For example.....maybe have some genius guy working for the government that's in a wheelchair, so fans can say, "Hey, that's Chip!".....maybe make mention of a politician by the name of Sean Burger.......some scientist in Area 51 or other relative alien research facility named Archevil....That would probably be the best way to do that.....

.....Unless you'ld like to see a movie about how a sterotypical evil scientist convinces the leader of a group of power-hungry advanced aliens to use his backwards Earth-based tech to further his goal of universal domination.....

I highly doubt they would make more than 3 films. Trilogys seem very popular these days, but they usually end that way. Like pirates, LOTR, Matrix etc etc.

I dont think the general movie going public would have enough interest to keep seeing giant robots fighting each other after a third film.

I can easily see a three set, or a four, but it gets iffy at five and past. If they really do their homework on the sequals I can see them being a success, especially if they only add a few characters per movie but develop these.

These are pure speculation, I haven't really read any scripts so these aren't probable spoilers:

In the trilogy that may be to come the Transformers may:

End up meeting Unicron.

Aquire a slew of lady Transformers to their group.

Possibly if there is any lady Transformers, you can bet there will be robo-babies. Its not automatic, but babies seem to get added when there are females around.

Encounter Decepticon Gestalts.

Find out how the Allspark was created.

*sighs* I wish people would get one key fact:

THIS IS NOT G1.

It will not be G1, this is a complete reboot to the series and a brand new take on it.

We might see something like Dinobots (I hope not), or the Constructicons (only if they're done correctly, though that's a tall order considering...) but I have high doubts we'll see Galvatron. (Yay!)

Unicron does not need to be put in the movie.

No Dr. Archevil (though Lloyd as the actor is a fantastic idea.) unless it's serious and far from campy. Though you can't do a serious Archevil considering his look, and even if you could...it'd be an instant R rating. So that wouldn't work either.

No Rodimus Prime (I have no problem with Hot Rod though, to an extent...)

No Quintessons.

....this is getting ridiculous. This ain't yo' daddy's TransFormers, this is new and fresh and I for one welcome it.

I'm sick and tired of the old stories and building on how Prime died, what made Rodimus such a crappy leader, etc.

I'm siiiick of it. BARF.

I would love to see 5 movies. The only problem is longevity. It would be like 10 yrs at least to put out that many movies. Optimus would really start showing his age by then. I guess if Indiana Jones can pull it off, so can Optimus.

Optimus Prime (and all others) are already OVER 4 millions years old, so why can't they live another 4 million years? :P

You're like the 578,452.2nd person to point this out. Most people got it the first time, yet people keep saying it over & over because for some reason everybody seems to get some kind of odd sight problem where on their screen "g1" gets replaced with "candy" so all they see is, "this is not candy".......

Anywho, like all franchises, people want to see key parts of the mythology recreated. For Transformers, if you asked anybody what key plot point they remember from G1....it'd be stuff from the movie, such as Prime's death, & after that would probably be Unicron & Meg's upgrade to Galvy, followed shortly by the Quintessons. & I'd just about guarantee that every single thing I've mentioned will be seen in some shape or form before the movie franchise is over. Hell, one of the producers (Desanto?) already said they had an idea on how they could put the Dinobots & Devastator in the next one, & that character introduction followed very closely behind the introduction of G1 as a whole, so I really doubt they are plannig on straying too terribly far from the source of the 20+ year franchise.....to an extent it'd be like doing Spider-man's origin story in the first movie & from there leaving out every key villan in the Spider-man franchise to come up with their own. No thank you.

edit, BTW, I find it kinds funny that you used a variation the G2 slogan of "This isn't your father's Transformers" to make your point....especially since, aside from a few new ones, G2 was almost entirely made up of "your father's Transformers" with craptastic paint jobs, & the cartoon was "your father's Transformers cartoon" with some fancy(& annoying) CG screen transitions.

Actually, G2 had nothing to do with my using that term. Until you mentioned it, I had completely forgotten about it. (That's what happens when you sell off all 12 issues of that craptacular series. That and trying to forget it.)

Again, my post was not based on G2 at the time, so therefore you have no point on that issue.
