I've seen the previews. I don't like it one bit. If you enjoyed the disaster that was Armageddon then I'm sure you will enjoy Transformers.
Once I found out it was Michael Bay I knew this movie was going to suck. The only movies he made that I like are Bad Boys & The Rock. Pearl Harbor had nothing to do with WW2. He made it into a crappy love triangle story.

So you are certain that there were no love stories whatso ever when it came to the bombing of pearl harbor?

So that no one touches the property for a decade or two, at which point the franchise may not have the appeal it has had the past few years, which will then make it even less likely a new film will be made?

Uh yes. Yet there was Beast Wars... :P
Well it was about ten years after the original show was on when beast wars hit the air, so um yeah Paragon post is pretty accurate.

On the other hand I am a big Iron Man fan too, and look at the armor they designed (built by Stan Winston) and you can make a good design based on the source material. Look At Spider-man's costume, its pretty much like the comic, with some tweeks. They could "update" the Cartoon style by making it more realist and cool, while at the same time keeping to the heart of the original design.

Exactly. I have to say that I was pretty jealous when I saw that Iron Man armour and compared it to the massacred Transformers designs.

I really don't want Bay to helm any sequels. Please try and get Zack Snyder, Peter Jackson, Zemeckis...there are so many better than Bay.. :?

But hey, if ya want it simple, they could always make SPYCHANGERS THE MOVIE. Would certainly save them a bundle on transformation effects. :P

dude you don't understand what I said. I am not saying you use the over simplified cartoon. You make it ultra realistic and you can have a million moving parts. use the originals as a starting point and then go from there, they basically ditched a box style for a triangular design. thats basicaly what they did, they used the triangle as the basis for all the legs and faces n' stuff.

It's like the differance between a cartoon human and a live action person. They simplify things for 2d animation. A real person has all the detail that makes it look like a real person even in CGI. instead they made all the Decipticons look like bug robot regects from the Matrix sequals, and the atobots look like erector sets.

Weapon: Twin Swords
Roland Emmerich Godzilla
George Lucas Maybe if he isnt to busy with Star Wars-The TV Series and Indiana Jones IV

The abovew 2 directors will be good replacements for Micheal Bay if he isnt available to do the sequel Roland is a good director he did an excellent job on The Day After Tomorrow which is one of my favorite movies also loved Godzilla. George Lucas will be to busy probably for years to do anything new so sctratch him.

And for those talking about "continuity" the Harry Potter series hasn't suffered through taking on different directors. In fact, once they got new directors in for 3 and 4, the series improved a hell of a lot over the first two films.

Bay deserves to do no.2 if no.1 is a hit and I'm sure he will get the gig.

Which is great cos he is made for this type of film.

You should be shot, that bastard destroyed Resident Evil and Alien vs Predator (tho I did quite like Mortal Kombat).
As for my judgement, I'll wait till I see the film on the 28th of June (BOO YAH!!!! New Zealand get it first woot!!!!!!!). I like the designs already so it's gonna be down to pacing for me I think.

But therein lies the problem when you go to examples. It's hard to prove and may mean absolutely nothing, since it's just as easy to say "JOEL SCHUMACHER" and have a case for not bringing on a new director.

It's a stylistic matter. The Harry Potter books are fairly straight and faithful book adaptations, so as long as each of the directors remains faithful to that there aren't any big changes. With Batman, Burton wanted to do things his way; before we was pushed off the third movie, Batman Forever, was going to have a black Two-Face and likely one of the Waynes brothers as Robin. Then Schumacher came on board and wanted to do things his way, making it less 'Burtonesque' and more campy like the television series. Transformers would likely have the same problems, as would Spider-Man 4 with someone other than Raimi at the helm (not just because the cast would leave with him), because the directors have altered enough of the material to make it 'theirs'.

Wow that was awesome If burton did BatMAn Forever hell Billie Dee diD play harvey dent in the first one. Actually seeing how panned Spiderman 3 was I look forward to Spiderman 4 with a new cast and direction I liked Spiderman 3 but I think its time for a fresh look.

True. I was merely trying to show that "continuity" wasn't an inherently good thing necessarily.

If movie #1 sucks, it won't matter because Michael Bay will be out of a job and lynched by all the Transfans for blasphemy in the highest degree. The only way, then, that Bay will make a part 2 is by buying up all of the movie toys and doing stop-motion animation work using his webcam... almost like the Japanese did with Scramble City 2.

If it sux, but it won't:

Word from people on other forums in the biz who have seen it is that it rocks... take this for example:

just spoke to a guy that saw it and he was blown away
the CGI is a never seen before magic and fights are out
of this world

the movie is huge, currently around 2:12, which they might cut but I hope they don't, cause that would mean less action scenes

also important to mention was the comical part. Film is a lot
funnier than expected, so it's really a 4 quadrant movie

I can't say it will be no1 this year, I just hope it will be
because if this movie is at least near what I expect it to be, it deserves sequels

I can't say I didn't expect that. This is after all Steven's baby as well and there's no way this movie could suck

I'll probably see it in second half of june, so I'll report then

yeah but isn't that the same thinking behind why we revoted for Bush 4 years ago??

Bad for the first 4 years, scared by terrorism, and government over hype of terror, using the media, so why give someone else a chance..for fear of being terrorised, then we reelceted him, and..... then bad for another 4 years, which has just gotten worse..

moral: Sometimes staying the course kills any chance or hope of finding someone that does it better.. If that philosophy were correct, i'd still be with my daughters mother and miserable, instead i found an incredible woman, and I'm looking forward to a new year..without bush.. ahhh..

If this movie sucks the first time with michael bay as the director, it will only get worse as the next run comes up...like the Bush regime.. LOL

Ok, I know i'm gonna be one unpopular sob for saying this on here but I want this movie to bomb! Screw Bay,Screw Murphy and Spielberg and Orci and Kurtzman and whoever else that was involved in bringing this frankenstein montrousity to life. I don't want to be seeing Bride of frankenstein or Son of frankenstein being released over the next few years. Bring out the torches now and lets burn this damn thing!

I honestly gave Bay the benifit of the doubt when he was first named as being the director of this movie. I knew he'd get the action scenes and explosions and all that stuff down with no problems. But I never thought him and the others would basically just crap all over everything else that made these characters so popular in the first place. If you want to update things then go for it. But just do it the right way by staying true to the source material and not by bastardizing it to the point of it almost being unrecognizable. There is a reason these characters have been around for 20 plus years now ya know? Apparently Bay and a lot of you other guys out there don't understand that. Why do you think this movie was even made in the first place? Why do you think it still retains G1 references and not based on the more recent lines like Armada or Energon? Why do you think there has been so much hate geared towards almost every leaked piece of info from this movie and almost every decision that Bay & company have made? If you can't understand any of that then you just don't get it just as Bay and his crew don't get it. You must be one of the knotheads that Bay has made this movie for then. Ewwww big splosions!!! Ewwww big robots!!!Me happy movie goer !!!! I'm sorry but eye candy does not a movie make. And to anyone thinking you'll be seeing Devastator or the Dinobots in any of the sequels...quit fooling yourself ok? Not gonna happen.

I'm sorry but everything that has been going on with this movie and the fans has just about completely ruined my love for the Transformers altogether. I've been a fan since the begining but I don't know if I can call myself that anymore. I'm ready to turn my back on the whole thing and not look back. Wanna see how big of a fan I was? Check out the link for my cel collection. Biggest in the states. No exagerations. http://cybertroncelarchive.rubberslug.c ... y/home.asp
At least you can tell those images ARE transformers and not piles of scrap metal.

Do I want this movie to bomb? Yes I do. Do I think that it will? Unfortunately no. There are too many of you cgi,big explosion loving,no story needed, knothead kiddies out there. Personally I think it will make money but not as much as they want it to.
And if you want to reply to me and disagree with what I say thats cool. Just none of this "At least we're getting a transformers movie!" stuff ok? Back up your argument.

Its all good Mace, its the fact that one day when its all said an done, someone will look back and say, Transformers?? Wasn't that a movie.. and we as old people will say, "No that was a bayformer." ahhh Michael Bay and the ILM studiosna d every where elkse in the world will remmeber that phrase, because I guarantee you there are alot of people out there who in reviews and such will not be happy, and will coin thatsphrase forever.. I just Hope that Mr. Bay hears it and knows its a derrogatory term, and not meant as a compliment...as well as the Over Star Wars over paid, scrap robot builders at ILM..

Yeah, I've heard people say "oh you haven't even seen it!" Well, I for one have seen enough already to know he has destroyed the visual appeal of the characters. Even Optimus Prime wasn't spared Bay's dubious perceptions of cool, and with the script and photos showing a tedious love story soap opera and comparitively little Transformers, he is messing other things up too.

I wouldn't mind a 4 hour movie about Transformers, especially if it was done well.
