John Wick Chapter 2 was very good. The Lego Batman Movie was a f**king borefest. I actually fell asleep.

Just got done binge watching Westworld on HBO GO. Pretty good show, but I'm very glad I didn't read any spoilers for it first.

Ok, so going off the past few posts:

Lego Batman is on my list. So is Logan. Heard both are pretty cool. Thoughts on Logan?

Fate of the Furious looks to be a good way to end the series. Looking forward to it.

After the 4th movie, this new Pirates seems to be a good re-step. I'm legit excited for this, and I can't say I've ever been excited for a Pirates movie.

anyone go see "Before I fall?" I was thinking of going to see it, looked interesting.

Anyone on Cars 3? That is one of my more anticipated movies of the summer

Logan is an absolute must see.

Can't comment on Lego Batman, I'm Australian. We're forced to wait for it, just like we had to wait for The Lego Movie and they know they lost a good $5 million because of the wait then. (They tie them in with school holidays)

Not sure about Cars 3, at this point it, along with most animated Disney sequels, is just a cash grab. But someone will have to take my nephew I suppose ...

If you liked The Lego Movie you'll probably like Lego Batman. I thought it was boring. I actually fell asleep. I'm with Burn on Logan, it's a must see. And I don't think Fate will be the last of the Furious films, unless it bombs. Vin Diesel has said there will be 10 films.

Finished up Steins;Gate awhile back and holy carp, that's a good show. I was way behind on that one, I know. It's on Hulu now and the follow-up movie comes out later this month.

Dunno how available it is to you, but I can recommend Timeless. Great TV series, really enjoyed the historical journey, and there was a lot to love

You can't go wrong with Star Trek. All six TV series (Including the Animated Series) are up on Netflix.

That's not something I had heard of, will look into it!

Naah, that's too backgroundy, might as well just put my regular music playlists on. But thanks!

I've heard it takes a couple to get into the meaty parts.

I watched the first episode and I have to say, I'm not overly keen on it. I want to like it, I do.
But the first watch did not get me. Might try again.

I've loved this one since it came out. It's my favorite Thriller movie and I watched it this weekend and thought a couple of you may like it as well: Unstoppable (2010)

Alien:Covenant - Simply put. No where near as good as Alien and Aliens, but still an enjoyable movie.

It felt to me like Ridley Scott was trying to recapture the scare from Alien, but that was nearly 40 years ago, and the audience has changed. I did enjoy it though, but it was definitely a far cry from Alien and Aliens.

Spoiler stuff ...

This movie picks up a few years after the end of Prometheus. Colony ship picks up a distress beacon from a perfectly habitable world only 7 weeks away. Much better than a 7 year sleep and years of terraforming so they divert.

The planet actually turns out to be the home planet of the Engineers. Once they arrive, a landing crew (including Walter, a later model David) is sent to the ground and two members become infected from spores which quickly gestate inside them. The resulting mess sees the birth of two white Xenomorphs, still different from the more "traditional" aliens, which of course leads to the drop ship being destroyed.

They are then rescued by a repaired David who takes them back to his home and fills in the gap between this movie and Prometheus.

David, as it turns out, is quite insane, and has spent the years experimenting (after wiping out the Engineer population) and perfecting the xenomorph life form. David is the creator of the face hugger.

You know what happens here, crew member infected, xenomorph is birthed, race is on to escape. And that's exactly what happens. After killing the xenomorph and escaping the planet and David, the remaining two members re-enter hibernation. With one crew member tucked away, the final crew member is placed into her hibernation pod, at which point, the most obvious of plot twists is revealed. Walter is in fact, David.

Left alone on a colony ship with 2 crew members and some 2000 colonists, David assumes control of the ship and also regurgitates two face hugger embryos that he places into cold storage.

While the movie is a direct sequel to Prometheus, we still don't get a direct connection to Alien.

If you're a big fan of the Alien movies, hit it up. If you're more of a casual fan, wait for a home release.

The trailer made it seem like a pretty good film, so I thought about seeing it, even though I didn't care for the original Alien movies, and never even finished Prometheus. I guess I should do that before I see this one. But if it's not even on the level of the originals, it might be a waste of time.

I just saw The Mummy with Tom Cruise. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was, considering the involvement of those no-talent hacks Orci and Kurtzman. I recommend it.

I liked the Mummy too, but too many fan critics hate it coz they'd rather have Brendan Fraser in it instead of Cruise! even though this isn't a sequel to those Brendan Fraser Mummy films, but rather a reboot or new take.

All the ones I've read have said the only good thing about the movie WAS Tom Cruise. Brendan Fraser was never mentioned. In fact they all went out of their way to explain how this is the first movie in the "Dark Universe" thing.

They all said the same thing, it was just a poorly written movie and sucked in every way conceivable.

Stephen Sommers' version from 1999 was a sort-of campy take on the character. This new version is a straight sort of reboot of the old films from the 40s and 50s. It's supposed to be at least a suspense movie, if not a horror film.

It had some seriously creepy moments involving the cursed mummy. Of course, being a Tom Cruise film, there was quite a bit of action, and even some humor. People say the humor is out of place, but I didn't think it was. There was also references to other monster movies that are still to come in this new "dark universe." We got a good look inside Henry Jekyll's lab, where there were Wolfman skulls, vampire skulls, and arm from what I assume was Swamp-Thing or The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Forgive me, I'm not very familiar with these characters. Also, we got a great look at Edward Hyde, when Dr. Jekyll turned into him and attacked Tom Cruise's character. Honestly, that was actually my favorite part. I was hoping we'd get an extended look at Jekyll/Hyde, and we did. Russell Crowe did very well, hopefully he gets his own film in this new "dark universe." Speaking of which, the logo for the Dark Universe was featured, which was just a darkened version of the Universal logo. I expected a fun summer flick, and I got one. Action, humor, drama, even some creepy horror. I recommend this film, if for nothing else than an afternoon of good time at the movies. Will it get Oscar nominations? Probably not. (Maybe in some technical categories.) Was it entertaining? Yes it was.
