The very first release of him had some paint chipping issues, as was also pretty common with Binaltech figures.

You're right about the heaviness and ratchets hindering posing but the pic of him holding Megatron IS possible. Yes, they've painted the thighs in pretty shiny silver. Whether or not that paint app makes it to the released figure, who knows?
