I don?tt mind the smoke stacks, and, because of the design of the base model, and its transformation, a single windshield is out of the question. There is no geting around the need for the double windshield. personally, I don?t mind it at all.

If you are careful you can dremel the center(s) out of the window and replace the actual window with two new pieces of plastic that fit very close together to simulate a single window without losing the feature of them opening and then some careful painting to cover the metal parts that were cut! Just a thought :P

If a single windsheild is out of the question ,possibility wise, In your opinion, then in my opinion you don't deserve to call yourself a kitbasher.

One, it isn't out of the question UNLESS your the person making said custom. It's their call to try or not try.

Second, if you stated that because you don't think it's possible then your dead wrong. Took some cutting on my Motormaster to work it the way it is and cutting two thin peices of metal is a peice of cake.

I like ya Tramp but sometimes your a bit over opinionated when the situation doesn't call for it.

easier way to make the chest windshield solid would be to move the window hinges to the top vs the sides and then solidify the center window. Just a suggestion.

That's kickass work there d00d. I see you used G1 Grooves engine/arms for the wingy things. Very creative.

I thought of making the windscreen one piece but he started out as a repaint. I'll finish the ladder section and alt mode before I decide whether to bash him further.

But again... cheers for the input.

Well if you need that ladder jsut drop me a line stencilator. I'll be kinda out of touch starting the end of Aug till the Beginiing of Oct as I'm moving. But I'll have the ladder set aside should you need it.

Also I do agree he'd look better without the smokestacks. The windsheild thing is really something that I don't think needs to be done but it would look more like the original with a single. Adding a box on the back to fill in the empty space sounds good, look forward to seeing more of this.

It looks fabulous, but if you're still up for suggestions, you might want to erh, cover the stomach-grille so it looks a bit more like the original model
Also, strange as it may sound, if you can't get a RID Prime cheaply, consider getting a 2nd hand playmobil firetruck, if not for the ladder then at least for the coiled fire-hose as that was one of the features I liked quite a bit about ol'inferno.

Wonderfully done work all in all.

This is an awsome idea. I didn't get a chance to reply when you first posted. I was thinking about it later then asked my son to see his mp prime, I extended the legs then held RID prime's ladder to him. The ladder is almost a perfect scale. Plus the missles could be a considerable upgrade. For a G1 appearance, I think the layout of the ladder would have to be reworked for placement over his head, offering something to keep the ladder level (Ladder is not centered on Rid prime). My son begs, almost demands me to make his MP Prime into Inferno. He loved yours and was excited when I showed him how it could be done. Now I have to come up with another ladder because I intend to use the existing RID prime for my own Protectobots.

It looks great! When I can get started on one I hope it turns out as good.

If you?re planning on doing this for your son, I would suggest getting a second copy of the MP Prime for that project rather than using the only one he has. This way he has both Inferno and Prime.

It's been said plenty of times that your custom is unbelievably awesome, so feel free to add 1 more to that count from me.

The thing I really like is the gun rack in the background. I got a good chuckle out of that seeing Megs pegged up on it.

Thanks again guys. Sorry I haven't posted any updates, but I have been working on Inferno a bit. I've made a platform with tool boxes on the side to cap the upper leg area in alt mode.... but then I got distracted by a few other peoples customs.

Donnie Fandango's lugnutz repaint and Superquad7's Cybertronian Police Motorcycle Patrol have inspired me and I've been attempting to combine my MP Inferno (Hot Spot) with Prowl (Streetwise), a skids repaint (First Aid), a Lugnutz repaint (Groove), and a Cybertron Evac repaint (Blades) to make... DEFENSOR.

I'm sure it can be done, I just don't know if I have the skills. I'll keep you posted.

The problem with doing something like that is the major size differences between the four models that would make up the arms and legs. Lugnutz is much smaller than all of the others, and Evac is the wrong scale as well as being smaller than the Alternators.
Tramp

Postby tentagil » Sat Aug 26, 2006 12:08 am

Evac is out of scale to Alts, but he's similiar in scale to what Blades is to Hotspot and First Aid in the original toy.

Lugnutz however is definatly to small. I can't really think of any Motorcycle figures that are in the same size class as Evac. Maybe Armada Sideways, but otherwie they have all been basic size figures.

I think you guys are forgetting that all the original combiners were not in scale with each other in any way shape or form! I mean Groove is taller than Blades and for the combaticons we have a jeep (Swindle) that is larger overall than a space shutttle (Blast Off)!

Yeah, the issue is not whether they're in scale with other in vehicle mode, but whether they match up in limb modes. I'm thinking you could probably do with making one of the other bots from something smaller (probably Streetwise), to match up with Groove, then maybe you could have Groove and Streetwise forming the arms and First Aid and Blades as the legs.
That's not thought through at all, so I've no idea how it'd work, but it's an idea... :?

Ramrider is correct, Scale isn?t the issue, size is. As I said, Lugnutz is significantly smaller than all of the other limb-bots. Thus, Defensor would end up with one disproportionately small arm or leg (leg being the standard placement for Groove).

Standard, but of course, by no means essential. My train of thought is that it'd be better off using the bigger bots as the legs and the smaller ones (whichever they are) as the arms. But of course that depends entirely on how you decide to connect them.

You still have the same problem. Also, all of the limb bots are supposed top be the same size. That is the primary reason why Lugnutz is just too small. Also, Basic size robots would still be too small compared to the main body, not just compared to each other. No, you really need large Delux size, or preferrably Voyager sized figures. Anything smaller is just too small.

not if you use for heli and lugnutz for the arms and two deluxes for the legs

They would still be too small compared to the main body Deluxes are the smallest you could go, and even then they would have to be two of the larger size Deluxes, you really need Voyager sized bots, to match up with the Alternatirs. Anything smaller would be dwarfed not only by the Alts, but by the MP as well. In combined mode, the arms would be puny.

Besides, it depends how you engineer them to transform. Bear in mind that G1 combiner limbs formed the whole arm, but only the lower leg, and these were with more-or-less identically sized bots.
If, for instance, you made bots to form, say, the whole arm and the whole leg, or just the lower leg and the armbots were basically extensions, then it might be feasible to use differently-sized bots.

What Ramrider said.

In the G1 cartoon with Menasor, I always got the idea he had motormasters arms with just cars added to that.

Maybe you could something like that: use Prime's arms for the combiner mode and just find a way to stick the limb component on the lower arm.

But even then Groove would stick out for being too small. Don't know how it is where you live, but in the Netherlands I can find die-cast motor cycle KO Transformers that transform into a robot of approx alt size. Maybe that would make an acceptable groove. But else you'd have to find a motorcycle Transformer (Wreckgar? Iguanus?) to take the place. Lugnutz really is too small.
