So, yes, topic is topic. A few friends and I will be going to Savcon near the end of the month, and I'm quite excited for it! It's going to be my first Transformers-specefic convention. I've wanted to go to BotCon for yeeeeeears, but it's always just out of reach. They never seem to come anywhere near the south east (barring that one time in Disney when I didn't have the money to go!), which is a real shame. I think Atlanta could host Botcon easy. Heck...even Birmingham could, but I digress.

So, how many of you guys will be attending? Think we should all wear seibertron badges with out board names on them? xD

I'll be there. I'm excited to finally have a TF con so close to home. It will also be my first TF con, so I'm really looking forward to it. For a first-year con, their guest lineup is pretty respectable. Neil Kaplan and Gregg Berger, plus our own Jon 3.0 is going. Can't wait to meet him.

I am tempted to go. I live in Birmingham so I don't get that many opportunities to go to conventions.

Just noticed you(FracturedKoi) are from AL as well. Nice to see a TF fan close by. I sent you a PM.

I want to go, but I work on the weekends, so I doubt I could, unless I'm granted the time off...it's only about 3 hours away, and is much smaller than BotCon. Plus, Gregg Berger is an awesome dude. Met him at BotCon last year.

Yeah, he's very friendly and talks to you and lets you take as many pictures as you want, even at a busy event like BotCon. And I actually got to have a more than 2 minute conversation with him at the HoF last year. Very fan-friendly guy.

I don't think I will take my MP Grimlock, but probably my Hard Hero. I value my MP too much to chance it getting broken or stolen or something. Maybe the instructions...

Sooo, this is my first convection... Not sure what to expect. Any advice anyone? SHould i bring the kids, can i expect discounts, should i bring stuff to trade or is that "taboo", whats the attire, etc.? just trying to be a little prepared and we really want to have a good time, there's just not alot of info on it (probably cuz it's the first one) so i figured i'd ask the pros. Thanks in advance!

First, relax. Think of it as a theme park, if you will. I'm sure the kids will be fine (I'm assuming their older than "screaming infant").

Discounts, I'm not so sure about, but you will find dealers aplenty of toys both old and new!

Trade? Yes! One of the dealers is having a "parts-night" in their hotel room the Friday before the convention proper. Check their website for details.

Attire? Be comfy. I'll be wearing a Darth Vader getup for some of it, so comfy is thrown right out the window for me!

Again, I'd highly recommend you check out their website. It'll tell you about all the events going on, the special guests, and what kinda dealers you can expect to find!

I'd like to add that it's a first-year convention, so it can't be said for certain what it will be like. They've got a good amount of dealers coming, so the dealer room is probably gonna be the place to be. Their schedule seems pretty bland, if I'm going to be quite honest, but hopefully the attendees will make it a fun event. Not sure what you want for discounts. You may be able to haggle with dealers over older merchandise, but newer stuff will probably be non-negotiable. The best attire is street clothes. Conventions are NOT formal events, they're just gatherings of people to celebrate their shared interests.

ok i feel pretty stupid for coming early! pre-registered and was never offered the SavCon exclusive "SVC1 ARDEETO" Tried finding the parts party but no one posted a time or answered the door (room 204). For a first time Convention i have to say this is not what i expected. Maybe i just expected too much, but at least a gathering of some kind where people who have the same interest could share them and even that was hard to find out side of the elevator... I really hope my timing was just horrible and tomorrow will be better.

Yeah your timing was horrid xD. Exclusive figure was exceptionally limited, only about 20 or so pieces. Parts party started at 9:30 and the room was left unlocked, it was a full room when I was in there. I bought their lil exclusive figure around 5:30 pm local time, loaded up on artwork from Dan and had a grand time.

Remember though, the convention proper doesn't start until today. Yesterday was more an "enjoy savannah" day for me xD

If you wanna find us today, look for Bane walking around with Darth Vader (shameful that I left my Vader gloves at home though xD)

LOL Believe it or not that makes me feel alot better. Soooo wait a minute, so for a parts party you just walk in the room?!? I felt like such a stalker just knocking on the door! We've been here since 3pm yesterday sooo , yeah. On a brighter side i got to meet Alex (cool guy), and took the fam to paula deans place which was awesome. Looking forward to today and we'll be looking for the glove-less Vader. Thanks again

Not a problem! Didn't get to get in costume til late in the day, but I plan on doing in first thing in the morning Sunday, tomorrow. Had a blast today though! Hope you're having a good time as well!

I went Saturday and was there for a short time. I got everything I wanted and had fun. Hopefully it will be back next year.
