Neo G1 Displays: a visual guide

Now we have visual proof that Animated Blurr works well with these molds.
When you first see him with the rest, it's a bit offputting, but you quickly warm up to the idea and see just how well he fits.
Sure, he's more streamlined (much like his cartoon counterpart), but it actually works for him, when compared to the other figures. He's supposed to be sleek, thin, and fast looking because he's all of that.
Once I got used to the shape of his body in comparison, I still wasn't quite sure about his face/head, but I see that Blurr is one of the only Animated figures that has the ability to transcend the Animated design limitations and be part of the C/U/G and FP/IT toy worlds.
He just looks friggin' fantastic next to his brethren.
When Arcee (TRNS) finally arrives, it'll be like they stepped out of the TV and onto my display stand.
I'm chomping at the bit for FP to produce their Wreck Gar figure and get it to us. Because it looked fantastic, and while I love Animated Wreck Gar, he just doesn't work with the aesthetic of the rest of the figures in that group. Nor would the G1 original.
I also see that I do need to get a Titanium Scourge. He'll look G1 enough to fit in, and still have today's mobility, so a win/win for me.
I can't wait to get my hands on that Protector armor. C'mon FP...hurry up!
Oh and I've decided, I'm going with Masterpiece Grimlock, and Legends Wheelie to complete the picture. I sure hope Hasbro's Kup fits. I'm hoping it's not a WFC themed design, unless it shares his G1 look and makes it better.
As for Galvatron, I had forgotten about the Energon mold. I do think he fits better in terms of looks and size, when compared to the Classics version, who's just too small, falls apart too easily, and doesn't look as good as I'd hoped. The only problem I see with Energon Galvatron is the scale disparity. That's a big honkin' fella standin' next to those guys.

Yea, they were the best approximations of characters I wanted to have on display. Surprisingly, there just are no drill tank figures that can be used for anything in the past few years.
Override's mold will and could work for Pointblank, a redeco would be preferable.

That's correct.
I have Superlink Megatron as Thunderwing in the Victory display.

I think it's a great idea to mix lines in your display, it's certainly more interesting to look at, and it makes you think a bit.

I imagine so.
Excellent display, CP. I personally don't like to mix in Animated or the movie lines (aside from Bludgeon), as I think their aesthetics differ a lot more from all the other lines. However, each of my series-specific displays is full of G1 homages, so in effect it's one big generations/evolutions type display.
For a long time I even had all homages of specific figures all displayed together. It was a cool effect, but I feel my current setup is a lot more space-efficient and dynamic. Each series is set up in a kind of simple battle diorama where the sides face off, space allowing. It also shows character relationships better than when specific character homages are grouped together.
Aaaanyway. Neo G1 is where it's at.
And you're a douche again, I see.

I remember now that Perceptor was part of the Neo G1 cast for a while, and I probably should add him to the collection, which means the reissue, and I'm fine with that...
But Jazz was featured prominently in a few parts of the storyline, at least in the beginning.
So, who's a good stand in for Jazz? G1 Perceptor will work fine, especially with the replacement/accurate head on eBay, but Jazz?

Hmm. He could work. I'm still wondering why they haven't homaged Jazz like they have other characters. Such as Downshift being Wheeljack.

They did. We got Alternators Jazz, 07 G1 deco Jazz and Animated Jazz. That's a few Jazzes right there.
It's just that none of those really work well in a standard classics collection.

Well, that's exactly my point. I didn't even reference Alt, or Animated Jazz because of that.
I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't repainted a previously used mold to make a new Jazz. I'm not sure what's stopping them from using the Prowl/Silverstreak/Bluestreak/Rapido mold from Classics 2.0 to make a new Jazz. A few slight remolds (head, shoulder cannons being reduced to one, changing the spoiler) would go a long way to making it work.
Who knows? They might surprise us with Generations and give us a Jazz figure. I just hope that whenever (or if) they do decide to make one, it looks good.

OMG, I hope that doesn't happen. Just look at how many characters they pumped that mold out for Universe. 3. That's probably why they didn't use it. That an Animated had a car G1 decoed mold out at the same time.
If they just remold the head though ... forget it. I like Jazz, but I'm not buying the same toy over and over again.

For now, 07 G1 deco Jazz looked good enough that no one saw him as being instantly out of place. For sure, a true Classics version would be nice, but this one fits the bill for now.

best guess
Zoomout is Viewfinder
Photon is Spyglass
Wiretap is Spectro
is that what you came up with as well?

For me, the look's just not G1 enough. Jazz is one of my favorite G1 Autobots, so I'll hold out for a true Classics version. I looked at the 07 movie one and it just didn't work for me.
In the meantime I've got the Alternators version. With faux perspective it can work. Although he's not in my display right now, he was for a long, long while.
