I thought Michael Bay said he didn't want cartoonish features on any of the characters and wanted them to possess more realistic robotic features. They don't get any more absurd than these two. If he's looking for the Jar Jar Binks reception for a character he's accomplished that. These two are riducolous looking...

I agree. Mudflap is the worst of the 2 though! I still cant get over the gold tooth on skids though!

By the looks of the trailer it is Mudflap getting sucked into devastator- YAY

Then Ratchet can improve skids face, do a bit of dentistry, even out each eye, and we are all happy

This.

WHO. THOUGHT. That this would be a good idea? I mean, usually, when I see something artistic that I don't care for, I at least can convince myself that, sure, someone out there would like it. But this? I can't imagine anyone looking at these ugly faces and going, "yeah, totally awesome!"

Can I ask what the eff the production team is thinking on this? I mean, to Engineer these astronomically intricate mechanical beings that literally transform by shifting thousands of panels around without collision, and then take a steaming hot dump in a paper bag, throw it at the drawing board and say, "Here's a good look for the head design!" seems like a complete waste to me. I'm not sure who's decision these things were, and I don't even care what the on-screen explanation is to why they look like that(or if one is even needed or given). That is effing ruining my buzz to go see this movie. We already have Bumblebee's voice shot again so he can dance around and play funny songs for Sam to appeal to the kids and fair-weather fans, so why do we need more comic relief? Why not just make all of the Autobots bumbling half-witted buffoons? I'm sorry but this crap gets to me! :-x

"I think what the fans have to understand is that we need the Transformers to look REAL"
to paraphrase Michael Bay.

Example 3456 of why Bay is full of it: Two robots that look like hicks, one with a gold tooth.

True, but, as retarded as the twins look, they are a whole lot more realistic that robots with such simple transformations that people can make spot on transfrorming costumes of them out of cardboard boxes. Also, sorry to nitpick, but when you paraphrase something, you don't use quotation marks.

In the trailer it looks like Mudflap gets eaten. I hope it happens quick because these two Deliverance-Bots are insulting to the Franchise. Unfortunatly, I am cursed with being a Completist. When I start buying movie figures I will end up having to have these two at some point. I might never transform them out of car mode though.

A little off topic but why does almost any individual Decepticon look like they can take out the entire Autobot team. They are giant, bad-ass war machines, as compared to the Autobots.
The Autobots have Prime who is a bad-ass, along with Ironhide and Sideswipe, who seem to also be, but now we have 2 or 3 fembots, 2 Hick-bots, Bumblebee who really is more of a spy, Ratchet who is a medic, and an old bot with a cane as reinforcements?
I get the whole underdog/peacebot theme with the good-guys, but enough of the cutesy crap already.

That is just horrible, I just don't understand why they would do something like that. Somewhere someone is patting them self on the back thinking what a great job they did.

Decepticons were designed as military hardware, the Autobots were designed as consumer goods. This is why Decepticons usually turn into combat vehicles and Autobots usually turn into civilian, aside from a few exceptions.

Yes, it's a cane. What of it? What if Jetfire is just emulating his favorite rock star, Billy Idol, during his "Rock the Cradle of Love" era?

i agree with you bout that. TF seemed much more cooler when they were on the reclusive fringe (mainly g1) way before the mid00's. about 92-02. its always more sheik? chic? when its out of style

Just a shot in the dark here but I think the reasoning behind the assymetrical eyes and arms is that these two combine.

Separately they look imbalanced and awkward but once they combine everything will even out into a green and orange bad ass uber-bot.
