I do like the idea of transparent Masterpiece figures, which is something we've oddly not had prior to YOTG Soundwave. I would be all about a Sons of Cybertron styled MP-10 Convoy or "Lucky Draw" ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime.

There was Ghost Starscream. I would also like some clear MPs but it might be an engineering issue considering the comparative fragility of transparent plastics. Id' be interested to see how well this one holds together after a few years of ownership.

Hasbro didn't use a clear image of the symbol that represents Year of the Goat. From my Google searches, it looks like it's supposed to be the Earthly Branch symbol. If I used the incorrect symbol, please correct me so that I can update the spotlight image accordingly.
The characters for goat are 山羊, at least in Japanese. Chinese has different ones: 色鬼. The latter has the main meaning in both cases.
Except those aren't the symbols that Hasbro used on the Year of the Horse package. The symbol they used last year came from the Chinese Zodiac symbols which are different than the actual words.

You are kidding right? The Chinese for goat is 色鬼? I wonder where your En-Ch dictionary comes from, as you sure need to get a refund for that.

The Goat ( Chinese: 羊; pinyin: yáng) is the eighth sign of the 12-year cycle of animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Goat is associated with the 8th Earthly Branch symbol, 未 (wèi).
Pinyin, or Hanyu Pinyin, is the official phonetic system for transcribing the Mandarin pronunciations of Chinese characters into the Latin alphabet in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan (Republic of China),[1] and Singapore. It is often used to teach Standard Chinese and a pinyin without diacritic markers is often used in foreign publications to spell Chinese names familiar to non-Chinese and may be used as an input method to enter Chinese characters into computers.

Nope, not kidding. You can see the same character I used in the Decepticon logo on the Year of the Goat Soundwave package. Now that I know what the symbol is, I can make it out in the Decepticon symbol but I wasn't sure what I was looking at before.
It's also the same symbol used on Wikipedia.

Apparently, Hasbro is using Pinyin for the characters.

Those kanji literally translate to "colour" and "demon/spirit/oni" (depending on Japanses vs. Chinese and context). Together they can either be iro-oni, a children's tag game, or shikiki which would be "pervert" or "lecher" (for my minimal knowledge it could be either in Japanese, but only the latter in Chinese). Someone somewhere is having a bit of a laugh.
Seibertron, if you want to see cleaner version of the Zodiac kanji you can always check out the sticker sheet for Autrooper (or your gallery thereof).

Crystiallic wrote:By joking I wasn't talking about your choice of character. That is the right character for "year of the goat".
I believe Hasbro hired some people to twist the character to fit into the Decpticon symbol, as they did last year with YotH. Although last year they used 篆书 as font style, which is the style Chinese used in Bronze age. This year they used 行书, which though dated thousands of years but is still commonly used. The font style you used is more like 行楷 which is the font style between 行书 and 楷书, which is featured in GoldRabbit's picture.
By the way, 色鬼 means "creepy horny man", or "pervert" as per Diem.

Sabrblade wrote:The toy's official name is "Year of the Goat", but the Chinese Zodiac animal itself has been translated by multiple sources into being a goat, a sheep, or even a ram.
Other animals have been translated as an ox or a bull, a pig or a boar, a monkey or an ape, a cock or a rooster, a rat or a mouse, while the rest have been mostly consistent as just dragon, rabbit, tiger, snake, horse, and dog.
Those aren't in the right order.Madeus Prime wrote:

The years go Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig, repeat.
2021 would be the Ox, which would be an odd Prowl repaint.

Considering that next year is also the 20th anniversary of the Beast Wars (yikes!), maybe your wish will come true. Or at least something special with Beast Wars would be awesome!!!
