We had a similar discussion back when Shadow Chronicles first came out on DVD, six months before they released the collectors edition, and the going consensus is that Harmony Gold no longer has the rights to Macross and thus can't use the likenesses of those characters. Makes sense since they've continued to produce new series using the Macross name over the last 10 years or so. It's also believed that they don't have the rights to Southern Cross either.

As always, I'm late to the party. If they didn't have the rights to southern cross, how come Louie Nichols was in Shadow Chronicles?
The dvd didn't reach my country but I was lucky enough to catch it on cable.

Beats me since I have no recollection of anything later than the New Generation. Was she/he/it in "The Sentinels?" That was a Harmony Gold original so maybe thats how.

Wow. I really need to get the protoform collection; I'm really out of the loop. Maybe they do have the rights still to Southern Cross since that has never been reproduced over the years unlike Macross which has a new series going on as we speak. Can you describe what the VF-25 looks like? Never seen one, or if I did it's lost in the vast reaches of space known as my memory.

Well, where I'm from, we won't get that on cable yet. I really like the fighter mode on that Valk.

OK. I don't have any official word I'm just going on what I know. On the directors commentary for one of the Macross DVD's put out by ADV they do mention DYRL and Flashback 2010 more directly how they could really serve as a bookend to the original Macross set. Now, ADV just finished their Lion Voltron releases; they were a bigger hit than expected so they're rushing out the original Go Lion followed quickly by the Vehicle Voltron sets. Also they're finally going to finish Gao Gai Gar. Those are three $50+ sets that will be on the shelves at roughly the same time and going after the same target audience as Macross. Keep in mind that most stores do not carry the "Classic" Anime and go for more of the newer cutting edge stuff with the exception of Voltron. After these three lines have finished their course which may be late this year or early next; depending on when their released, we may see a 2-disc set of the aforementioned Macross movies. Sorry but I don't see them doing Macross 7 any time soon. The only other Macross series I see them putting out is Macross zero and that's only a big maybe.

Yeah that I know. I was just trying to give everyone an idea of where ADV is going in terms of future Macross DVD releases. There's more money in the Robotech era of the series than in the later shows. I'm not saying Macross 7 will never see the light of day, just not right away.

I really like the new VF-25 Valks. They look to be the natural descendants of the VF-1. Nicely designed. I'd look for a toy of it.

I figured that would be the case but I didn't want to assume since I can see something being modified just to mess with me. The CM Ridearmor is that the same as what will be put out by Toynami? I think I have it pre-ordered at BBTS but I'm not sure.

If the CMS set is as half as good as their GaoGaiGar work then it will be awesome. I have the Megahouse version pre-ordered but only the Scott version. I forget who else is making them but I'll go for it as well. I honestly thought that Toynami had given up on the 1/100 figures but thank goodness they're coming.

well, so far all the new Ridearmors we know about are the CMs version(about 3 3/4"), Megahouse, Beagle and possibly Toynami.and the next wave of 1/100`s features DYRL Hikaru VF-1S Strike, Roy VF-1S Strike and VF-1A CF with FAST packs in june and the loose FAST packs in april.and good to hear CMs is a good manufacturer cause I don`t want to contemplate the trouble to get a matching Scott Alpha Fighter for the Toynami Beta Fighter...

Well I haven't seen CMS' Ridearmor yet so I'll keep an eye out. At first I thought the GGG set was a model because of all the pieces but CMS includes a ton of extras including a set of plugs to cover the screw holes so the figure looks perfect. That's dedication.
