How much did they set you back though?

Yamato puts out some very amazing Macross figures, but they are expensive due to being released in Japan. The 1/48th VF-1 valks usually go for around $150, but the 1/60th YF-19 and other Macross Plus or Zero valks go for $200+.

The smaller figures, the 1/60 scale are more expensive than the 1/48 scale? The 1/60 must be more detailed?

The Macross Zero Valks are actually bigger than the original Super Dimensional Fortress ones. Keep in mind that the scale designations, 1/48, 1/60, 1/72 are not fixed sizes but are determined based on what would be the actual size of the Valk. A 1/60 scale YF-19 is actually bigger than a 1/48 scale VF-1

Do you guys have a scale comparison for all Valks? I'm only familiar with the VF-1. :D

I meant to as sooner but have there been any improvements made to the 25th anniversary figures. Anime hands tight joints etc?

I will snap some pictures of the 25th VF-1S with the Stealths Strike Packs.

To answer Chuck's Q's the VF-1S didnt come with any anime hands but mine was really tight and the YF-19 fixed arms, but some other things were loose.

What were the problems with the original YF-19?

1/60 scale perfect transform VF-1S or Jetfire this summer!

Postby Rhapsodyred99 » Tue Jan 22, 2008 8:57 am

In case you haven't heard Yamato is a company in Japan that does amazing detailed toys on the Masterpiece level or beyond. They specialize in the Macross franchise and thier 1/48 scale VF-1S looks amazing, and has been used by many to make custom Jetfires that look incredible.

This summer they are using all the tech they learned from the 1/48s and and shrinking it down to a 1/60 scale. the first VF-1S they did in 1/60 you had to take the legs of to transform but now it is perfect transform and looks amazing. Word is that it will be sold for under $100 dollars US. They will have fast packs available (Jetfires red armor parts) and they may even be sold with them (the current 1/60 s have them) which is good news for customizers since a 1/48 with fast pack will run you over 200 bucks.

Anyway since it was the mold jetfire was based on thought I'd point it out here.

here is the long post on itbut here is also a teaser pic or two

I'm sorry if this post will deviate from the current topic of the Anniversary issues. But I just got to post my first ever Valkyrie purchase. I went with the version most familiar to me and that is Roy Focker's mech. I like it so much that now I want to buy more Valks.

Most Macros fans identify with the VF-1J's but for me it's all about the S. Just something about the paint scheme and design is good. Well I had to cancel my 25th anniversary YF-19, among other things from BBTS to get my order to ship. No big loss since I was never that big of a fan of Macros Plus.

Hmm, I saw this when browsing HLJ. Not having bought one of these before, how does the 1/60 and 1/48 fit in with the MP line as far as scale goes?

That looks really nice.

I'll probably avoid buying it though, on the grounds that collecting transformers is bad enough, and they have a lot more viriraty and cost a lot less, the minute I start collecting Macross as well my bank balance will be screwed.

Looks like Yamato finally did something about the ridiculously tiny hands on the 1/48s and the obscenely large cone-groin.

As for scale comparison with the MP line, it's been years since I had my 1/60, but I remember it was quite small. The 1/48, however, is quite large. It a fair bit taller than MP/20th Anni Prime, so it might be a good match for the MP line. However, my 1/48 is currently in Gerwalk mode and has been in that mode for quite some time, so I'm not a hundred percent sure on the height. I seem to recall it topped out around 12 inches, but I could be way off. I'll try tranforming it into Battroid mode later tonight when I get home from work and compare it with Prime.

Does that mean that the Toynami version can't compare to the Yamato? I was thinking of getting one.
