But they aren't sold out. Probably won't for a bit as well. It seems like they always try to make enough for everyone. It's the later repaints that they seem to make limited runs of. Like TFCon Powered Convoy and the TFSource Snowman kit. Hell, they even re-released City Commander for a second run and they didn't have to. I love these guys for doing that. I got the first run, but I believe that CC should be available for those that want it, and Fans Proj delivered...and then some. With the re-release, you got shoulder missles and an additional gun for CC. Even better, they thought about those that bought the first set so they even just did the add-ons kit (missles, guns, and 3(!!) faces. These guys are all about Transformers and Fans. I would/will probably order almost any TF toy from them without pics at this point. They have yet to disappoint me. I have complete faith in what they do and how they do it.

That's exactly what I'm waiting for, too.

What if your Defender figures are defective and/or missing parts? What if BBTS runs out between now and then and there's no replacement option.

Even if BBTS runs out, I'm sure FP could come through somehow. I'm waiting to ship my Defender too. Don't make me freak out!

Since I just bought the expensive Japanese Universe Onslaught recently, I've decided I'm still going to display him next to the full Bruticus. The 'Onslaught' included with the set isn't even the right colors anyway, so in my story line it will just be a drone under the expert control of the real Onslaught, who can stand by on the sidelines while his teammates take one for the te...er, him.

I have been thinking about it since I saw the "Defender missing weapons packet" thread and even posted that very thought.

Chills me to the bone thinking they won't be able to fix it.

Do you think BBTS would open mine to check it for me?
(then I can ask for a partial refund to the "opened" price)

the price would probably drop a bit, but no way Hasbro would be able to put something like this out for the price point that the size of them would require. How many mass-market retailers are going to stock a case of figures that sell for $30 next to a bunch of superficially similar ones that are only $8 (or whatever)? Sure it'd be good if they all sold, but it'd be a big gamble, and any uneducated parent would baulk at the price when comparing them to another Scout class toy. There's also the question of if these would be allowed to be sold in a Toys R Us or what have you. I don't know if these items have to go through the same testing as an official Hasbro product. I somehow doubt it.

I'm sure there are folks who work for Hasbro and Takara who could make toys just as good (or better) than these but simply can't do so as part of their job, and possibly have contracts prohibiting them working for themselves or 3rd parties.

Yeah, this is me all over. I don't mind the Energon Bruticus mold (don't have the recent repaint, though), but these guys are rockin' stand-alone pieces. I'll maybe look around for a deal on some of the other Bruticus Maximus parts (ha!), but I'm fine with a classics Blast-Off and Swindle.

Well, I already have that guy of course. He'll just stay on the Energon shelf with the rest of them. This is just my way of telling myself I can display two of the same character in the same universe. I also don't want to have multiples of the same figure. I'm on a budget man, a budget!

The one downside to this set is that I'll probably want to get the G1 colored (or G1ish...) limbs for the tank and helicopter.

I'd gladly trade off the Energon limbs I don't need to get the ones I do, but I doubt I'll find a willing participant.

nice!! can't wait till I get mine. now if they could make replacement limbs for the other 2.

I thought about it. The more I look at them, I realize they're not so terrible. I think it depends on the color scheme, really.

I do think the FansProject robots are a step or two above the Hasbro offerings.

I have the all original Energon versions of the combiners. As for the green tank and purple/gray chopper, you're right. They'll definitely work better than the orange and yellow bots. lol

I preordered this months ago, as well as Springer. I really was on the fence when the CJ kit came out, and I had to drop my pre-order of the CC set when it came out because I had just moved. I got him when BBTS had a few sets left over before the re-release. A little bummed I payed $50 more for my set, but the quality they produce is what a toy collector wants. I have ROTF Bruticus, and the colors are just right. Dark military colors which goes up against my Snowman Superlink Superion. Never liked the colors of the ROTF Superion, so Snowman is on the Superlink version.
If you have doubts, then cast them aside, because FP have proven they can make quality toys. Come 'on Protector.

I was actually thinking about how with the 10 (or 12) bots that make up the two teams, and the only characters that got real personalities on the cartoon were Swindle and First Aid. One's a bastard that sold his squads parts for scrap and the others a pacifist that hangs out in a junk yard with a old bot that wears a ball cap.

Not exactly Shakespearian here!
