At the Tokyo Toy Show, in the display of new Transformers: Prime toys coming from TakaraTomy, we saw an unpainted prototype of the Knock Out toy mold labeled as Smokescreen.Bubbah wrote:noodles2go wrote:based on the "38" and the fact that there is a smokescreen repaint of Knockout rumored, as well as the noticeable similarity to knockout in his robot mode (check out the upper chest/torso), Smokescreen seems almost inevitable.
I'm not wondering if the "repaint" part of the Smokescreen toy is false. Vehicle mode looks nothing like Knockout, in fact it looks similar to Wheeljack. And given the few amout of characters in the show, if they cheapen a (supposedly) long term new character to just a repaint, I'll be a bit disppointed (especially since the KO mold isn't that great to begin with)

They could remold the figure's car parts to make it more unique. Like what Hasbro's doing to Generations Jazz for Sideswipe.Bubbah wrote:Hmmm, any chance that was just a place holder figure? I'm just surprised they'd use Knockout. He's got a fairly large, rounded front end, and the clip shows the new guy having a much more sharp and thin front end. Plus KO doesn't have the air vents in front of the rear wheels like the new guy has. Unless maybe TT is going to use a different name for either the KO repaint or the character in the show, I just see a real stretch tieing Smokescreen as a Knockout repaint, ya know?

it would not be to hard to remold knockout either. change the chest a bit, rework the legs, new weapon, and a new head.
