I just found out Shatner will make an appearance in the new movie

I didn't realize he was 76

This is a bitt of old news and mis-information.JJ is looking for a roll for him in the script but as of yet its not confirmed.There are two posibilitys......one is the he will play James Kirks father.....the other is that at the films ending we will see a fast foward to a new future and we will see old Kirk and Old Spock sharing a drink.

Wow, that would be, uh wierd, maybe spock will get caught in the nexus where a part of kirk will exist like guinan did

Kirk may never have been stuck in the Nexus at all after this movie.If the leaked script is the one they use young Spock would have all of old Spock's memerorys.And since time would have already been changed there will be no ethical reasons for Spock not telling his friend not to board the Enterprise B....much less all history may be changed since they will have a closer bond at a earlyer time frame.

wtf, so Generations would never happen, and that was one of my favorite films

Maybe a causality loop will prevent this travesty from happening, I hope at least

Maybe but JJ has said in a few statements that their trying to Re-invent the franchise.Thats why I think they'll use this script or a script like the one leaked.....because any changes in history would be exspected and understandable.

I wouldnt call it a retcon........when retroactive continuity is used its because their trying to fix mistakes done in past stories.In this case an changes to the past would be because someone went back in time to make them.....and succeeded.Do you remember TNG episode "Yeaterday's Enterprise". The Enterprise C entered the TNG time frame before they could save a Kligon outpost....and in doing so changing TNG present history.The only reason why things went back to norm was because they sent the C back to where they came from....if it had stayed it wouldnt have been a retcon.The same applys here.

The writers are walking on thin ice here--we're excited for a new Trek movie after waiting, by the time it comes out, six years ( ), but they are cruising for a bruising if they end up screwing with Trek history.

At least they are going with a different cast. I'm glad Trek is so loyal to their actors, but TNG was starting to resemble TOS cast members back when they were doing movies. Well, maybe it's not so much loyalty as it is recognizing a cash cow when they see one.

Too bad some of the original cast won't get to see this.
