From all the forum prowling I've done about the figure, I've come to the basis that the figure was a factory repaint that never really saw the light of day. So in regards it belongs in the 'prototype' figures that never made it. And in regards with the whole fan repaint, I can't imagine what type of fan would be willing to repaint this figure... although I hear a friend of Down_Shift has 5 swerves and is planning to repaint them Power Rangers style...

I recall reading a thread where someone mentioned that the yellow Swerve was a repaint because the red plastic could be seen on a spot inside of a door panel or something where the paint wasn't applied.

If you're a pro customizer, no way in hell would anyone leave the inside doors red. Factory repaint, mainly because yellow is a very hard color to deal with.

Very good point. Leaving an unpainted spot would be very sloppy for any pro customizer. Hmm, imagine having a yellow and a red Swerve. Side by side, they'd look like a pair of bell pepper bots, hehe.

Anyway, I really do think the bot mode looks good. That head sculpt looks sharp. It's not worth the money IMO, but it isn't a bad figure. It isn't any worse than the RoTF Twins........and I don't mind those, so who the hell am I to gripe!

I have one and I really like the fig (thanks for the hookup.. you know who you are). He fits well with the classic line too.

Clearly visible red on the inside of the door panel. Additionally, the hood looks to be shiney, where Swerve's plastic just isn't.

Everything I've heard is that the yellow version was a custom.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that there is NO red paint on my Yellow Swerve.

The plastic is moulded yellow, and the painted sections are yellow paint on green-tinted clear plastic. Under close inspection it is NOT red.

No-one seems to believe anyone with a yellow Swerve, that it is in fact NOT a custom. At most it's a Lunchtime special.

Hehe, nice. If there ever is a green Aveo Swerve, we'd get the trifecta of bell pepper Swerves.

Then you should post a gallery and review of him. I'd be interested to see detailed pictures.

The "red" you're seeing is color shifting. The outer yellow paint on the translucant blue plactic is tinting weird. The red bit on the inside of the left leg in that picture is a tail light. The gloss difference could easily be due to using a slightly different plastic. CP for the first time ever I'm going to have to disagree with you. That yellow Swerve, in my customizers eyes, is most likely real.
Now it could be a test shot. The yellow plastic looks like the same yellow used in the U Sunstreaker test shot I bought early to make 9(ironically enough) Punch/Counterpunch. The softer waxy textured plastic.
I think it's as real as any prototype or lunchtime special.

Now, I didn't make any declaritive statements on the yellow one's authenticy one way or another.

I just pointed out that there appears to be red inside the door frame and that the yellow appears to be glossy, where the red plastic on Swerve really isn't.

Personally, I thought that there was supposed to be a yellow version released. Hell, I thought I even saw one at BotCon in 2008. At any rate, whenever I brought it up to people, I was told that no, they were never made and that a custom or two had shown up online. I don't know what's up with this thing, that's why I wanted to see pics of Phill_D's Swerve.

Yes, yellow ones were definitly made. I saw a bunch of them on ebay when the red's first came out. I was never into the mold, so I just passed on both. But I do remember seeing a limited run of yellow aveos. They were also mentioned as being more limited then the reds as well. Still didn't make me want one then. But now that I have some extra loot in mah hands...

GM could at least license a freaking Z06 or ZR-1 Corvette. Even if the Aveo Swerve is promotional in nature for the Chevy Aveo, the Aveo is such a turd of an alt mode. Such a throw away automobile.

Honestly, I don't think there are enough Non-Sportscar/Rallycar etc. Car alt mode TFs.

Got mine in the mail today, paid $79.95 with free shipping on ebay. Haven't even had a chance to take him out of the platic bag yet. I happy with the Aveo alt mode, my sister-in-law had a silver one with leather interior, a sun roof, basically loaded and I thought it was a pretty sweet little car.

I saw one a while back in town and my word are the wheels
on the Aveo tiny. Reminded me of the old Geo Metro's wheels.

Well, the Aveo is basicly a modern day Geo Metro. That's probably the reason. Even if people are tired of sports car alt modes, GM could AT LEAST license a Chevy Malibu or an Impala. A Cobalt (Cavalier) for that matter.

I got my Aveo Swerve from eBay for that same price with free shipping. It's been probably the best deal for that figure on eBay since the Canadian promotion ended.
