Yeah, it looked like he was on his cell phone and being blissfully ignorant that he was getting in the way of the camera. Typical cell phone use behavior.

Interstingly i can remember and name all the new characters already, I cannot do the same for the trilogy toys, admittedly there are lots but they just dont shine.
its realy about perspective and memory. the way i remember starscream from g1, after rewatching the old toon, is nothing how he realy was. my memory of him is basicly how he was in the comics, though i never read them
a lot of people that i know localy have this staunch memory of how the old cartoon used to be and stuff, and often i hear them talk about it, and in the end, all they realy remember is the old movie, and basicaly, they realy only remember the first 5 minutes of it, and how violent and grown up it was.
but that movie was such a shock to us kids, those that stuck with it and loved it have it burned into our very core. some refuse to believe thier memeroy and perspective of the old toon are anything less then perfect.
its crazy when you read some of these threads with like 500 quotes within quotes within quotes and so on, not only is it an eye sore, but fo those of us who are open minded, we see a very steady pattern
people here seem to demand change, because they are tired of the same thing over and over again
but when it gets changed, theyre pissed because its well, changed, and not in the way that suits thier individual thoughts and beleifs.
and since transformers is such a huge and widely diverse fanbase with near infinate realities and story lines, each with thier own fan following, it leads to constant disagreement and bickering.
see, i want 2 things myself.
1, I want to see the old guys come back, with todays toy tech and with a more serious, deep story, like you see in beastwars.... got the toy part in classics, and the story in the movie
but at the same time, ide like to see a simple, lighthearted show that i as a fan can enjoy with the children i take care of, and in time something that i can enjoy with my own kids, grandkids and whatnot.
weather some of the die hard fans who want to see grown up transformers that are bloody and violent want to admit it or not, transformers, while containing fun and enjoyable things for we the adults, is made for kids. for most fans, thats what made it special for them, it was a part of thier childhood, that gave them enjoyment and fun. and with every year, and every new line and show, new kids are given the same hopes and dreams. i know kids that totaly think armada is the best cartoon ever. i hated it personaly, but when you look at armada in direct comparason of g1, its plagued with the same issues.
now remember how you were, and think of those kids. 10 years from now, theyre out on thier own, and they either never let go of thier childhood, or did, and because of some movie, or toy, or show, they rediscover a part of them selves, and a whole new generation of fans joins into the community.
how many of you never posted here before news of the movie broke? how many just started posting after the movie came out?
how many grew up on beastwars, and thinks that is the only good transformers series?
if you stop and think about it, it all comes together. i just wish we as a fanbase could continue to do so.
but with every new design, or show, we will always fight and argue over our own beliefs i guess.
im hopeing the new animated series, odd design or not, will provide the fun, lighthearted goodness that kids can watch and enjoy, and that those of us who are perents, or doteing uncles can share with future generations.
personaly, i think the designs are akward, but the toys look fun, and accurate, a rareity these days in transformers.

good points for sure!! I sure am glad times are good (wel, for toys anyway) and soon one can choose:gen 1 reissues, binaltech, classics 1 and 2, animated, trilogy, even gen 1, oh and movie!!!!

This cartoon will have to do a lot for me to like it. Mainly because it has the whole Teen Titan thing dragging it down. The one thing Teen Titans did wrong (IMO) was the obvious anime influence. I'm a fan of classic cartoons so i don't mind cartoon humor. But, when the mouth of a character turns into a giant square in two seconds without any sign of a lipline...then it's gone too far. (Also, i really hate angry veins and sweatdrops...emotion in artwork should be able to be expressed without that nonsense)
I do like how the style isn't the same as every other one...but there's just something that irks me about it that i just can't quite think of.
I could also write another paragraph about the necessity of good writing, but i won't.
There's potential here...i'm just hoping they don't go overboard.

To all those who hate this because it's not a serious G1 followup: Grow Up! In you mind. We're not in japan here! There isn't a public for adult cartoons here. Just forget it. Or produce it yourself and see your money dissapear!

Revisioned G1 Series
Posted by Kryptoniteking Sat Aug 11, 2007 1:54 pm
We can all remember the original series and can probably name what type of vehicle all the bots transformed into. For instance Jazz was a Porcshe GTR, Prowl a (dare I dig up the name) Datsun 280ZX, Silverbolt a Concorde airliner, and Starscream was an F-15C jet fighter.
We identified ourselves with these characters due to their vehicle modes because, at the time, we knew someone that owned one or worked with one, or knew somebody with one, etc. This is also the reason the original series (and toyline) wained eventually here in the States. After the movie jumped our beloved characters 30 years into the future, the vehicle modes became "futuristic" and eventually the we lost a bit of interest... I know I did.
With a new series, I expected something more connected with the movie or updating the vehicles to vehicles now used. Something that kids today can identify with in the here and now and not those bubblegum looking monstrosities.
Some of you are hoping for a tie-in to the original series or "Beast Wars"... Note: The head writer for the series is the visionary of "Beast Machines"... Be afraid... Be very afraid!
Despite my disgust for what I've presently seen of the show, the animation is very tight! I just don't like the bubblegum looks of the characters.

These last few "new" animated series have been "okay". The only thing that has been good about them has been the serialization of episodes. Hopefully, this new series can draw upon that. But these shows lacked something for us to relate to which were the robots vehicle modes (with exception to Thundercracker who was a Russian Su-27 fighter).
There are so many cool REAL vehicles out there to be used. I think this new show is just a cop-out and laziness on Hasbro and the animation producers. Don't get me wrong I understand the cop-out. If you go back and look at the licensing troubles Dreamworks and Paramount went through to try to stay true to the original G1, you can understand why they accepted General Motors' offer to use nothing but their products representing the Autobots.
That being said, Hasbro has licensing for other automakers because of the Alternator line of toys. It's on the packaging! This is where the animators are just wanting to do something simple and easy. A cop-out. Here's the chance for a U.S. produced TF series again and they go the "cartoony" route.
Again I won't trash it too much I will state elements that I do like.
No more cheap CGI robots! I've seen it done with some animated shows and it was done nicely but the last two series... ICK! This new series is completely cel animation (so to speak)!
The new series animation is good for what it is. I'll give it that.
What I hope is eliminated is the robots announcements of weapons they're going to use just before they use them. That was a pain in the last few series. "Just shoot the damn things!" No more of the stupid "say your name" followed by "transform" before transforming. Not to mention the "super anime background splash" behind the transformation. Totally overused!
I'll give the show a shot but I'm still pretty unimpressed with the show and the toys so far.

I think you missed a memo somewhere...because that's exactly what it is.
Nowadays, when it comes to Cartoons, ESP stuff on CN, the animation has to feel unique and be able to grab hold of you. It seems to be a trend of having badly animated shows with seemingly no care in the animation; resulting in very poor quality of shows unless the story is any good.
The vibe this serise gives me is they're trying to do what Tenn Titans did when it was first intorduced. Offer a new style of animation with a story unique to the other half heartedly thought out plots and stories of other shows.
Though the show has me genuinly intrigued and excited, I'll reserve my official judgment until I see the first episode.
And I'm with Jetfire Masta, I don't think Kaye is right for the part. But who knows, maybe he'll grow on me.
And unlike the majority of my peers, I love Bumblebee's voice!!! >.

Very well said and I can't agree more. Still the splash anime backround is going to be used here and that alone is a turn off.
I don't mind GCI Transformers, hell I think it's one of the few areas where it works. But again, I agree, if your gonna do it, do it right
Same goes for cell animation.
Still, everything I've seen so far for this series fall into the catagory of "Let Down" to me. I will give it a chance to be fair, but I'm just not into it!

BB sounds cute to me, and Cory sounds very cool and menacing as Megatron. And come on, it's being directed by Susan Blu, perfection people. I heard they were going to try for season two or so to get Peter and Frank to come in for an episode or two. Which would be awesome.
My only reservation is the exagerated animation. But I'm giving it a chance.
