A new interview about the upcoming Transformers game featuring voice god, Frank Welker has popped up on the So Hood Magazine website. In the interview, Welker talks about why he enjoys playing the part of Megatron.
"I really do love Megatron. I love doing Megatron. I wanted to create a character that was unique. I've done alot of different characters. Some evil, but mostly good. So having the opportunity to play a villian, and then trying to make him different from others that I have heard. I wanted to hook onto a sound".

That voice gave me goosebumps. I absoutely love the raspiness to G1 Megatron. Those lines sound more like what BM Megs would say though. Still, I can't get over hearing the original Prime & Megatron in the same game after 23 years. It's so cool.

he's just done SO many voices over the years.
It's definitely Megatron.
The thing is, they just don't have the same post FX on the voices as they had back in the 80's. The technology just isn't the same. Whatever weird electronic crazy moog devices they used back then are vintage and hard to find now. Besides, who even remembers what they used?
It's still cool that they've got it as close as it is.

I could watch a movie solely comprised of Mr. Welker just doing megatron's voice and Mr. Cullen doing optimus's. I hope this sort of footage makes it into the extras on the dvd release.

i love the game footage and cut scenes, it actually made megatron look cool and bad ass despite my displeasure with his design....maybe it'll work in the movie too
and yeah hearing the old voice again was cool....and sure i'm biased because i'm a G1 fan but that voice woulda so worked in the movie

That video clip was great. Megatron looks sick in that video clip and admit I do like the new look, despite the fact that I also like his G1 design. Frank Welker is perfect choice to be the voice of Megs in the game (I'm sure Hugo Weaving will also do a fine job as the voice of Megs in the movie). All in all I'm sure the movie is going to rock and hopefully the game will too.

That was awsome. This guy practically raised me, & untill recently, I had never heard his actual talking voice, or even heard much about him for that matter. As weird as it is to say, it's kinda like being adopted, & then after you're grown, meeting your biological father for the first time.....just....happy..... without the whole "why did you abandon me?" stuff that comes with adoption.
Welker, you're almost like a second father.....

Megaton's voice is brilliant. Like Prime, he is immediately identifiable.
Why Welker wasnt used for the film is a mystery. Perhaps if Megs gets a good beating in the first film he will be rebuilt in the second and have a new voice (provided by Welker).

That was awesome when it showed him going nuts behind the mike!! Frank Welker is the King!!! In his regular speaking voice, i could almost hear his Freddy from Scooby Doo, but its so amazing that he has the ability to change his voice from Fred to Megatron. Thats just mind boggling!!! What a talented man.

I read through the whole thread so far.. and this one I agree with the most..
I think that Welker was excellent in his voice design and choosing the raspiness/metallic quality of G-1 megatron. To reprise his role for this game was pure genius, what a fantastic idea.. Its like 1984 all over again, but with a new look..
I do think that this time around, the lines are gonna be more sinister and very well written, which is why It sounds alot like BW Megatron to me.. i got that Beast Wars/G-1 feeling at the same time when I heard him speak his very few lines..
This Game is so gonna rock!!
