How so? "Locked in what it is" a video game console? I'm lost.
I mean, I have not used the DVD player on my PS3 even once. what really hurts it for me was the lack of PS2 BC, since I wanted a PS2 for Christmas, and my parent's resoned that since my mom wanted a computer (Which she has not used) and my dad wanted a Blu-Ray player (which he has not used) and I wanted a console (PS2 or 360 would have more than sufficed) they would get the PS3. They didn't get the used one that probably had PS2 BC, because it had a smaller hard drive...
...I do not know what I'm going to need 80 GB of space on a console for. I haven't even used half of it, between about a half a dozen demos, no less than five games being installed (Installing a game on a console? Ridiculous), the PS1 games being downloaded, and a helluva lot of saves.
LOL!
For real?
You're an educated software/computer person. We all know this.
Now you want to argue that options, expandability, drive space, and upgradeable funcationality aren't necessary?
No. Friggen. Way.
You're locked into a fanboy perspective. Sorry man. What you said goes against what any reasonable gamer should want.

For me, it's not about the graphics or the definition it can play on, for me, it's the game itself; graphics are only a small facet of how good a game is, and few people seem to realize that bad graphics doesn't mean a bad game, and good graphics doesn't mean a good game.
Graphics aren't really the issue. They do in fact matter, but the real issues are input lag problems related to upconversion. Because the native resolution of the Wii is stuck at 480P, a lot of TVs will not lower themselves to that and will upscale it. This takes computing time and creates lag. It's not too bad, but it is real and it is a problem.
Before you go quoting me line for line and all, know that I really do like my Wii. It's just...no where near as good as the other systems. Basic specs tell us that. Nintendo makes good games...when they get around to it. However, while you're content to wait for another Mario, Zelda, SSMB...other systems constantly bring out new games and things to do.
I will continue to play my Wii. I will buy 2-3 games per year for it and I will absolutely love every 'No More Heroes', Mad City, and whatever else. But don't try to argue that the few gems Nintendo tosses our way every year can amount to the golden crown of comparative gaming that the PS3 and 360 offer.
